Late one night you and your friends visit the old fairgrounds. They're putting up rides and booths for the annual carnival. But this year things look really different. Really odd. Really scary. The place is lit up by a hundred fiery torches. And spooky music is coming from the main tent.
 
And then you meet corycurren and Tommyrod, the creepy carnival managers. They've invited you in to test some of the rides.
 
Will you brave the terrifying Supersonic Space Coaster? Risk the horrors of the Reptile Petting Zoo? Slice through the oily waters of Booger Bog? Or confront the evil Snake Lady? The choice is yours in this scary Goosebumps themed Mafia game that's packed with 13 endings; most of them quite unhappy.

While this is, in spirit, a Mafia game, be aware that you will be making choices if you wish to survive.

 

Your fate is in your own hands.

All players in the set-up will simply get a PM saying "You are trying to escape."

 

Except one of you. One of you is the key to perhaps making it out of the carnival alive; the choice that must be made in order to achieve a happy ending. You will have support: at the beginning of the game, you will choose two teammates from the player list to assist you. Your Patty and Brad, if you will. When all the escapists will be making their choices during the day, your goal is simply not to be chosen.

 

Select townies may also be given choices to make at a night. You control your fate.

TL;DR - Instead of "lynching" players, you are "choosing them" to see what ending they will lead you to. You are trying to get a happy ending. This is purely flavor. You are still basically voting them.

 

TL;DRA - One player will be chosen as Mafia and will chose two other players to be Mafia with them before rand. Townies will not be told if they have a power, but may be given "choices" at night. All choices will coincide with typical Basic Mafia game roles. Spoiler is an example of a typical PM with two roles (bulletproof and bus driver) that will NOT be in the game:

 

 

 

 

Looking ahead, you see an equipment room! Inside you see the a bulletproof vest discarded on the floor worn by one of the park's security cops; on the opposite side of the room, you see a set of keys that belong to one of the moving buses.

 

To grab the bulletproof vest and wear it, PM me Page 22. You will be 1x bulletproof for the rest of the game.

To grab the keys and use your driving skills, PM me Page 67 and the two players you wish to bus drive.

RULES

 

1. As long as the game is ongoing, you may talk about the game only inside the game thread.
2. If you have a role which allows you to communicate outside the game thread, then you may do so only when allowed by your role, and only with individuals specified by your role.
3. You may not edit or delete posts in the game thread for any reason at any time.
4. You may not post screenshots of, or directly quote your role PM, mod communication, or any other game-related communication that originated outside of the game thread.
5. You are expected to be familiar with the rules, and you are expected to abide by them even if you think they are incorrect.
6. You are expected to behave civilly.
7. You may roleclaim or character claim whatever you please. Villagers will not be given flavored role PMs, so you'll probably just look silly if you do.
8. Each phase will end when specified by the moderator. The player with the most votes at this time will be lynched. If there is a majority, the phase will end as soon as majority is reached.
9. If you don't have the time to play, expect to be replaced. There is no post requirement, but expect me to be kind of a butthole about inactivity.
10. Nothing out of the spirit of the game - no making sig bets or anything like that. Be cool.

11. Your moderators are me and Tommyrod. We'll do our best to give frequent votecounts and make sensible deadlines.

FYI the reason this is experimental is because of the choices: choosing a scum team and potentially choosing roles. The mechanics themselves, once the game is underway, are gonna be along the lines of what you'd expect in a basic game. Cory can correct me if wrong.

Though town roles won't be known until night 1 starts so that's a little different than usual
