Thanks everyone for playing.  I hope you all had fun, it was a real treasure to get to mod for you again!

I have a few fake-aways for other mods.

 

1) Give your game enough kill actions that it runs for about 4 days.  The crowd here is too busy to engage longer than that, and activity really falls off.  This one overstayed its welcome a bit between the no NK N1 and the condemner not popping off,

 

2) I really wanted to put a ton of effort into the flavor so it rewarded the people returning.  A 36 page story (which actually did align with game events FWIW, down to Ithi (John) being the character John McClane and being the one to hammer Heavy (Hummingbird)), role PMs with photos and themes, multi-page GSD, setup options, blah blah blah.  You don’t gotta do all that.  Putting 2-3 hours a night into a game is not fun like it was a decade ago.

 

3) Assume good intent, no one who came back is trying to do anything other than have fun.  Things got heated once or twice midgame and in hindsight I’m happy I let them roll.  You’re all very capable of self policing and expressing boundaries.  Maybe not in the healthiest way, but there was nothing here that couldn’t be mended in a few sentences post game.

 

4) The meta is in a weird spot.  People want to believe their expectations of mafia are true.  Could just be rust, but a lot of those foundational concepts about the game were held more rigidly than they had been in the past.  Anticipate a lot of wins for the mafia team if that trend continues.  
 

5) Remember, your game is only balanced until it starts.  After that it’s on the players.  There were a number of times I wanted to say something in this game, such as that whole annoying conversation about “what did the mod mean about this part of x role interaction and the condemner”, but anything I said would’ve been alignment indicative for people in the hot seat.  Couldn’t do it.  If town wants to lose a lynch on that, so be it.

@Darthe also knows how to create discord chats for the mafia team. Despite my initial trepidation - because new - it was absolutely brilliant and allowed us instant communication, which was super duper important. 

 

And also we could just chat about all kinds of Random stuff too.

honestly? I hated this game. I spent two weeks being disbelieved in a way that I’ve never seen cop claims be treated like AND because I got run up d1 I couldn’t even get an action in. Which was super frustrating.

 

even more so when I read the dead thread and see how many none towns I would have got a result on.

You hit nontown every day except day 1 mate.  It was a good effort, but the D1 claim and the fact that all town PRs claimed by D2 were disastrous for town.

Guys, I followed that whole game from Day 2, skimmed day 1.   Was really fun to watch.  Ithi was an absolute beast.  Mentally hunting for 3rd party was a great way to keep her posts looking like town.  

Nyn...was very subtle.  Small posts, poking but always asking the right questions.  I had a scum read on her early because she wasn't making any declarative statements....just making remarks and asking questions.

Then later she would put a bow tie on that and give a real good read.   Funny how missing that night kill on her pretty much sealed up the game for scum though.  Hard to believe keeping a great player alive helps you win.

Probably important that just because someone is OBV town and talented, that their opinion is still an opinion.  

DPR and Verbal, more so DPR, are hard to just follow.  It's almost like they are talking in code half the time.  Hard to read if statements are sarcasm or real or towing that line so as to later be able to say which it was.  I had no clue on there alignment until very late.

I was playing over-the-top as far as the theatrics went, but I have to fall on my sword when it comes to me saying they should have strong-manned you on N1

 

I genuinely didn’t see that play coming. Lolme. There were so many ways it could have gone wrong for them, but Ithi was Han Solo flying through the asteroid field and I swallowed it him-line-and-sinker.

I disagree personally.

 

Let it be said that my opinion was exactly that, my opinion. I didn't refute the option that I could be wrong. I never forced my opinion on anyone or tried to shove it down anyone's throat. Also unlike verb (lol) I really dont think I'm right all the time. I'm personally pretty pleased with my reads this game overall. It'll never be perfect otherwise it'll get boring.

 

Perfect example is that I really couldn't put heads or tails on reading heavy, ended up relying on players that had prior experience with him and we still ended up mislynching him. It's the risk you take when you rely on somone else's opinion *shrugs* but I'm not going to blame anyone for that.

 

I think there are a lot of factors that contributed to the scum win, not necessarily me being saved n1 that tipped the scales. My opinion of course.

I honestly don't know what I would have done if marsh had been shot instead of me and I ended up at lylo.

 

To be completely honest, I created a discussion with marsh over the night phase cause it was the last unbiased discussion we were gonna have. Also I will admit that I was vocal on offing dice cause I kinda hoped it would lead to me getting nked xD  cause this lylo would have been sophie's choice. If I was kept alive I might have changed my mind.... but we'll never know lol  but like I said in the game, it's a loss I was willing to live with.

Even after Heavy was flipped, I still had my suspicions at one point about Dice, DPR, and Verb. Then ya'll got cocky and shot DPR and Verb! and then Darthe couldn't contain it anymore. Lmao.
