DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

What artist, band, or song(s) remind you of the WoT?

There is a song on George Harrison's last album called "Any Road"

But oh Lord we pay the price

With the spin of the wheel with the roll of the dice

Ah yeah, you pay your fare

And if you don't know where you're going

Any road will take you there

I keep traveling around the bend

There was no beginning, there is no end

It wasn't born and never dies

There are no edges, there is no sides

Just an excerpt.

And Mat could be Bad, Bad Leroy Brown! :D

He's a gambler, and he likes his fancy clothes, and he likes to wear his raven signet ring on everybody's nose!

I'm sure I heard a song when I got into the car on the way to soccer on Saturday that had lyrics like "I'm Rand Al'Thor don't #### with me" on the radio. It was almost the end and they (radio station) didn't say which band or title by the time I got to soccer but it was a new track from what I could tell.

Every time I hear The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by Smashing Pumpkins the lyrics make me think of Moridin. To me it'll always be his theme song.

Send a heartbeat to

The void that cries through you

Relive the pictures that have come to pass

For now we stand alone

The world is lost and blown

And we are flesh and blood disintegrate

With no more to hate

Is it bright where you are

Have the people changed

Does it make you happy you're so strange

And in your darkest hour

I hold secrets flame

We can watch the world devoured in it's pain

Delivered from the blast

The last of a line of lasts

The pale princess of a palace cracked

And now the kingdom comes

Crashing down undone

And I am a master of a nothing place

Of recoil and grace

Is it bright where you are

Have the people changed

Does it make you happy you're so strange

And in your darkest hour

I hold secrets flame

We can watch the world devoured in it's pain

Time has stopped before us

The sky cannot ignore us

No one can separate us

For we are all that is left

The echo bounces off me

The shadow lost beside me

There's no more need to pretend

Cause now I can begin again

Is it bright where you are

Have the people changed

Does it make you happy you're so strange

And in your darkest hour

I hold secrets flame

We can watch the world devoured in it's pain

Strange

Strange

Strange

For the feeling I get just watching the images roll by and the beautiful melody.

Images that fit so well with the Wheel that it's uncanny it wasn't made with the Wheel of Time in mind.

Sounds and lyrics that -much like WoT- were build from fantasy out of nothing.

It gives me goosebumps and it is one of the few songs that actually makes me wonder if humans have a soul...because it touches something deep in the core of me.

Our words go beyond the moon.

Our words go into the shadows.

The river sings the endlessness.

We write of our journey through night.

We write in our aloneness.

We want to know the shape of eternity.

Who knows the way it is?

Who knows what time will not tell us?

Mountains, solitude and the moon

until the journey's end?

The river holds the lost road of the sky;

the shape of eternity?

Who knows the way it is?

Who knows what time will not tell us?

Where is the beginning?

Where is the end?

Why did we fall into days?

Why are we calling out into the endlessness?

Who knows the way it is?

Who knows what time will not tell us?

And then there's this one. The first time I saw it not too long ago...it almost felt like Jordan giving advice to the Dragon about what to do in TAR @ the Last Battle.

I like it for how creative it is...to make this out of those snipits is sheer brilliance in and by itself, I think.

And I just have fond memories of Bob Ross....he gave me piece of mind after a good night out; I could sit on the couch -half dazed- just watchiing re-runs of his show for the better part of the night. It's great how his soothing voice and his sheer pleasure in creating and sharing dripped of the television.

I tend to listen to The Dear Hunter (acts I-III) when I read WoT, and sometimes the Age Of Empires 2 soundtrack :D. I normally read with music, that i think has something in common with the series and get a strong association between the two. somehow I associate both of them with the middlish ages and so with WoTs general state of technology. plus they're wandering alot and i think both fit for traveling... dunno

I listened to God is an Astronaut, Explosions in the sky and Mogwai while doing a final reread before A Memory of Light. Now, as soon as I listen to any given song from one of these artists I always start to think about Wheel of Time.... which leads me to Dragonmount.... which leads me to read thread after thread after thread and roooouuund it goes gaaaaaah. I could live a more productive life, but I choose not to :wheel:

I have random tavern music I listen to that remind me of WoT.For tGH and DR's ending I played Douce Dame Jolie - Annwn on loop.

Aside from that, whenever I read DR where we first find out likes of Sammael and Rahvin etc. are free, guess who's back, back again. shady's back, tell a friend...plays on a loop in my head. lol

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I just have to say... I listen to music while I read, so Ghost of Perdition will forever associated with the end of The Fires of Heaven for me. Similarly, I was listening to a lot of Stone Roses while reading The Eye of the World, and for some reason, their song Going Down reminds me of that one.

And, again because I happened to be listening to it at the time, Lazarus by Porcupine Tree reminds me of Mat's plot in A Crown of Swords. Oh yeah, and of course there's that song literally entitled "The Wheel of Time" by Blind Guardian...

I was just re-reading the Battle at Falme, and when Min found Rand, I thought of I'll Stand By You, by the Pretenders

When the night falls on you

You don't know what to do

Nothin' you confess, could make me love you less

I'll stand by you, I'll stand by you

Won't let nobody hurt you I'll stand by you

So, if you're mad, get mad. Don't hold it all inside Come on and talk to me now

The Rolling Stones: Angie.

I imagine it as "Ghenjei".

Ghenjei, Ghenjei, when will those clouds all disappear?

Ghenjei, Ghenjei, where will it lead us from here?

With no loving in our souls, and no copper in our coats

You can't say we're satisfied

Another one, "The Luck of the Irish" by John Lennon. I change it to "The Luck of the Aelfinn".

If you have the luck of the Aelfinn

You'd be sorry and wish you were dead

Because if you have the luck of the Aelfinn

You'll wish you was Eelfinn instead

Also, if you couldn't tell by my signature, whenever I hear the song "Without Me" by Eminem, I think of WoT. Because, his nickname for himself is "Slim Shady", or simple "Shady", which can easily be changed to "Shai'tan" or "Shadow".

I'm not a big hip-hop fan, personally, but I couldn't pass up the chance to write a rap for Shai'tan.
