Young Moraine in New Spring finally defeats the seasoned BA AS then makes Lan her warder.  Wonder what they did from there to finding the boys in Emonds Field?

I guess some people were not impressed with New Spring.  I liked it.

I didn't like the Moiraine/ Merean fight much. How she won was a joke.

Like you, I loved those 20 sentences about Lan becomming Moiraines warder though.

Especially Lan teaching Moiraine a valuable lesson when he feels her mind.

As a WoT-reader, the book was 'ok'. In the sense, that if you loved WoT already, there was more info about important characters & key-events (the Aiel War, Rand's birth to name a few)

I'm not sure if I would have continued with TEotW if NS would have been my first WoT book.

Wonder what they did from there to finding the boys in Emonds Field?

Now that's what should have been part of New Spring! ;)

It was supposed to be a book in its own right.

I know, but it would have helped New Spring be a book with a little more happening & suspence, I think.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know if the other prequals/ sequals are still going to be written?

The whole Mat/Tuon book for instance..?

Rand's confirmation as the Dragon at the eye of the world with his first fight vs a forsaken and the finding of the horn and the banner.

Ingtar's redemption

Rands first victory vs a blademaster (High Lord turak)

Egwene's first entry into world of dreams and travel to Salidar/raise to Amirlyn.

Speaking of Egwene, when the novices all stood for her in the dining hall.

Nyneave healing Logian and then Siuan.

Nyneave stating the Golden Crain rides to Tarmon Gaidon, who will follow!  Perhaps the best scene in the book.

Galad taking out Valda and taking over the Children and moving them to become a force for good.

Third favorite scene, Mat rejoining the band and Tuon realizing he was now a lion loosed on the plain.

MAtt facin the Golam in the Rahad when the bowl of winds  was found.

Second favorite scene Rand in Rhuidean meeting his ancestors.

Fourth favorite scene...cleansing the taint.

Rand and Avienda.

MAtt and Birgette eting drunk.

MAtt blowing the horn and the heroes riding down out of the mist.  Surely this is in the top 5 as well.  Probably Second and move the others down.

And how could I forget Rand killing his first Trolloc and dragging his father through the woods to be healed.  Wow that was really good.

Moraine telling the story of MAnetherin.

Moraine taking out Lanfere and we all thought dying.

Dumai's Wells with the rolling death, Rand breaking out and the great Taim quote...Kneel or be knelt.

Lan prepping Rand to face Siuan in EoTW

Rand refusing to let go of Lan's hand...somethin linke when the Moon turns Green.

Mat I am the master of the blades.

MAn, what a great series.

Guest Dreadlord

not to be rude just saying the lan preping rand to meeet suiane was in the great hunt, first few chapters

"When a man faces the world, all he can do is face it standing on his feet." Or something like that. Yea that bit is really good, when Lan teaches Rand the ways of the Borderland warriors.

I also like the part in EotW when the group have just crossed Taren Ferry and Moiraine sinks the ferry after they cross-and she tells Rand, Mat and Perrin that she would destroy them before she let the Dark One have them. A chilling glimpse into her darker side!

chapter 56 (Goldeneyes) of The Shadow Rising when Perrin and the Two Rivers get ready for the pending Trolloc attack. The women guarding the children and when Perrin faces the whitecloaks. Most of all the battle that ensues when Faile comes to his rescue...that one makes me tear up everytime.  :'(

I havent read the books in a couple of years, but some of my favs are;

When Rand gives the mad Ashaman the poison. It was really a sad sad scene.

When Moraine begs Rand to let her help him.

When Perrin realizes he has a cousin.

Rand's battle with the Seachan.

It's just a really good series. I'm going to go home a do a re-read!

i don't remember how it was the first time but i know how it is this time.

in TDR, when the 3 girls are caught by random criminals, and then the Aiel kill them all, and ends up walking around the Myrdraal while beating the spears on the shields.

'thumpthumpTHUMPthumpthumpTHUMP'

and then the fear in the Fades eyes when they see the girls filled with the OP

I can't believe it, I read this thread twice and not once is one of the most chilling sceen in the books. When Perrin Egwene Elyas and the wolves are in the stedding and the Children of Light are there searching for whoever made the fire and Hopper jumps on the Whitecloaks to save Perrins life and in doing so dies.

All those years ago, when i first started reading the series. Found it unbelievably dry and boring. Read the first bit of it, then put it down for over a month. Picked it back up on a whim, and read the scene with Narg. Hooked.

One of my favorite scenes, of all those mentioned, and quite a few of those were great. With Mat and Tuon, leaving the "hell". Mats tapping into his memories nastiness, taking out how many swords men with just a couple of daggers. This is where Tuon starts to realize just how formidable Mat is, before he is a "lion on the high plains" Id have to say Mat is my favorite character. And the cute weakness of not killing the last attacker, or at least how Tuon see's it. ( I dont not have a copy of KoD to actually quote, so cute is what i use :P )
