It is an interesting thought that some people (possibly including me) cannot fully taste bitterness, as given it is a basic taste then it should be distinct as salty, sweet, spicy or sour. At least it is the most unpleasant taste, so surely cannot be that much of a loss.

To me the 2 things are totally unalike. And bitter is not necessarily unpleasant - I like my chocolate very dark, for instance. Lemons, on the other hand, not so much. Except in small doses in something else.

My apologies for throwing up some of my dark past and dropping the mood. It was probably uncalled for.

Not at all, my dear! Things are what they are - don't apologise for the truth.

And thank you so much for that flower! It's one of my favourites, from my favourite place in the world 🙂

  3. I love your various reasonings from the viewpoint of your Ajahs and personal lives 😁

I've never really had any thoughts on this specific event either way, though I did start my first real job on a Friday the 13th, and worked there for 13 years. The bosses in that place made me extremely cynical about life in general and any kind of boss and/or religion in specific.

On the other hand, I learned an amazing amount there, and enjoyed my actual work and my colleagues very much.

  4. I thank my Lucky Stars I'm not superstitious, but ... many people are.

Some of those people believe that Friday the 13th is a very unlucky day. Others believe it to be their lucky day, on the other hand.

As Min said to Rand, there must be positive to balance out the negative.

What do you think about the matter?

Where does your Ajah / the Warders stand on it, and how would you handle the day if you believed it to be unlucky?

  5. I come from a rural farming community in South Africa.

We're mostly from German & Dutch descent, which means quite staid and puritanical characteristic.

The Emonds Field people really resonate with that, which made me be able to relate to them from the start. It's very difficult for me to do that with most book.

Leading on to the Tower, I just fell in love with that set-up too.

From there, I became a rabid fan ... LoL

To date I've read most of the books over 20 times, and the earliest ones over 30 times. The last 3 ... well, twice.

you have a fork in the road, one going right and one going left. drifting somewhere through the maze you hear a moan. which direction is it coming from?
