  1. Welcome to Dragonmount, Jaime ?

It's quite exciting to wonder what the tv series will be like, heh?

Which part of France are you from, if I may ask? I was an exchange student in the 1980's and stayed in Versaille and Lille for a short while. I now live in Cape Town, South Africa, which is in the area where I was born and grew up.

When I decide to finish something, I usually do so (I finished Malazan remember? ?), so unless something really unpredictable happens, I won't get scared, I won't jump the ship and I'm probably going to be an active member proper, I hope. As long as I'm welcome, which - like I said - the general WOT community seems really welcoming in general, so I don't think that's going to be a problem.

I like this one ... I think we'll keep him *grins*

But seriously, you're welcome - at your own time!

Just one thing - and I hope you don't take this personally - what's with the forum's engine? It's cripplingly slow for me (like, the page loads for a whole minute or two) and it's not my internet connection - I tried several rather fast ones, but it keeps its really slow pace and honestly, it's somewhat unpleasant, patient as I might be in general. Is this a known problem? Or is there any way I could improve that for me?

Sometimes he have something called cloudfaring. Don't ask me, I don't understand it. I'll bring it to the attention of the Powers that Be, if I can find them, though. Maybe someone can flip a switch somewhere.

Oh, and remember I come from a backwoods country, so if I'm ever going to be misunderstood, blame it on my thin grasp of the English language and have patience with me, I beg of you ?

Hehehe no problem! I'm not English either (my home language is Afrikaans, which is derived from German and Dutch and a smattering of other languages too).

I hail from Trinidad in the Caribbean, very pleased to meet someone from Cape Town. Been wanting to travel there forever, I'm sure my genealogy traces back to Africa.

    Yes! Come and visit ?

What are one of your theories or realized comprehensions from your multiple reads?

Hmmm .... Graendal was one of the first who was Turned? I can't recall ever seeing that in a discussion here, but it seems obvious to me. Maybe I just missed the discussions and I'm stating the obvious ... LoL

  4. The "mind-twisting" is what later became known as "the Taint", which is sort of like a madness which male channelers suffered from.

"struck at the core, ignoring peripheral things" refers to the fact that unimportant things like tapestries and paintings were left alone, but the people he (Lews Therin) loved were killed by him.

    Hope that explains it?

    And welcome to Dragonmount!

  5. Hi ... Ma'al'Rand? LoL ... your handle is too long! We'll have to find a nick name for you ?

    Welcome to DM!

I discover some new things in every re-read I do, and I've read the older books close to 30 times each.

Where are you from? I'm from Cape Town in South Africa and I know of only 3 other readers, two of whom were on here but have faded away, sadly.

And come again? Social clubs? School me on this.

There are various ones, like the White Tower & Warders, The Black Tower, Shayol Ghul, Ogier, etc.

It's very difficult to explain to people what we actually do here. I'll quote the WT/W blurb for you - maybe that will help!

The term "Aes Sedai" means "Servants of All" in the Old Tongue. The White Tower and Warders Social Group has used the philosophy of Servants of All to create a social setting based on the hierarchy, purpose and set-up of the White Tower and Warders in the WoT series. This inspires the way in which we interact and some of the activities which we organize, although we are a social community and not a role playing group.

We offer people of varying common interests - related to the books or otherwise - a chance to find their niche with like minded people in one of the Ajahs or the Warders guild. Whether you become a Warder or an Aes Sedai (here males can be Aes Sedai and females can be Warders), at the White Tower and Warders Social Group, you can live out that philosophy and have fun doing it!

I pronounce my name "Zeye-ee-dah" (with the Zy rhyming with "eye").  I'm from the Niagara Falls region and am a social worker for the job that pays the bills.

Thank you so much for explaining the pronunciation, Zyida! I often sit here wondering if I'm even close ... lol!

Welcome to DM - hope you're going to feel right at home here.

I'm from Cape Town in South Africa, btw.

My wife is fed up hearing me telling her who did what and what happened here and there lol.

My family are the same! Really wish there were other fans around who I can chat with about the series (I'm from South Africa). But at least we have Dragonmount, to which I welcome you warmly!
