The Black Tower is inactive because we lost our One Power roller game... it was left on a website that got deleted. So boo.

Working on making a new one. Once financial year-end is done.

    Welcome to Dragonmount, @androlf

That was a massively impressive intro post 🙂

Yep, a mindtrap. It started as a staff name on a game but I figure as a name it works as the vessel that holds my digital essence.

That's a really wonderful description of an online handle!

  3. @Mailman I think we can agree to disagree. Not all people have the same cultures and the same core beliefs, and just because some people have one belief (I'm using this as a general term, not a strictly religious term), that does not mean they're right and everyone else is wrong. Beliefs are fluid in any case.

I'll just use an example which springs to mind:

In the TV series, Aviendha was beaten in her face and other body parts with fists by her 2 fellow Maidens.

Some people thought this was much more acceptable than the spanking she would have received in the books.

I, on the other hand, was appalled by both the attack with fists in the face, and by other people thinking that was better than a spanking. I'm absolutely horrified by both those things. But, I accept that for some reason some societies now believe that way so I'm not going to go verbally attack them over it.

Early in Two Rivers she shows no respect to the village council and I think and even hits Cein Blue with a stick.  She was the show me respect as Wisdom but never felt she had to show others.  I ended up liking her but early on she was a bully.

I also feel the same, but then I also sympathize with her.

When most people around you act like idiots, then you tend to over time start acting like they really are idiots. Who's to blame?

I'll do my due diligence as a new member, that's only fair as I'm coming in on the backs of so many engaging and fastidious members, I just hope that in my excitement to engage, I can temper my overzealousness (Who want to be a Whitecloak, amiright? :).

Aaahhh Whitecloaks aren't SO bad - I have the Lord Captain Commander to tea, sometimes!

Obviously we each bring our own ... one can never be too careful 🙂

Anyhoo ... welcome to Dragonmount! I hope we'll see you around the White Tower Social Group.

  6. So very glad you joined at last! And I'm with you on mourning the dormant groups. It feels like my home has turned into a ghost town.

I've been reading WoT as long as you have, and been on DM (following the same path you did) since somewhere in 2006.

Hopefully, you'll help to revive some of those wonderful groups - hit me up if you want info or help 🙂

Hving just finished the entire Wheel of Time series, I’m left breathless by its sheer epic scope. Robert Jordan has crafted an incredibly immersive world: from the soaring towers of the Aes Sedai to the ever-shifting weaving of elemental magic, from intertwined prophecies to the complex emotional bonds between characters. Every page transported me into the land of the Aiel Waste and beyond. Following Rand, Egwene, Elayne, Perrin, and their companions, I felt their pains of growth and witnessed their fearless struggles and sacrifices. What moved me most was the interplay of “reincarnation” and “destiny” — we are all links in the Pattern, unable to escape yet able to shine through our choices. As I closed the final book, I felt both fulfilled by its grand conclusion and nostalgic for that unfinished world, itching to embark on that fateful journey once more.

    @AlexJesus So well put!

    Welcome to Dragonmount 🙂

Do you have any favourite characters or groups of characters from the Books?

Absolutely fake, just another tool to make them depedant on the Forsaken. Given the limitation of needing to know where you are a ter'angreal for gateways is exceptionally difficult. Even if you made it stationary - like the portal stones - you still have things in that area changing over time.

You could have it in booths, each with their own numbers or codes. Something like that would stay relatively the same for enough years to make it practicable.

Anyway, with regards to portable gateways, didn't the Shaido have some boxes given by one of the Forsaken, which could create gateways? Or was the entire premise there that said Forsaken was actually creating those gateways, and the boxes no longer worked when he (?) wasn't around? I am struggling with remembering the details, but they did for sure stop working once the Shaido were spread to the different corners of Randland...

The "fool boxes" ... you're correct that it was just a premise and Sammael was making the gateways.
