Mafia Grievances

I've gotten away with the fake Doc claim once. The real DOC never counter claimed. He seemed to have an idea what I was doing. We were at a point were losing a town player would have been very bad for the game. I don't suggest doing fake claims like that early on.

I once tried to fake claim doc as a roleless innocent, after the real doc revealed in order to avoid being lynched. My hope was that the players would leave both potential docs alone and the mafia would be left with a case of wifom, but instead they all lynched me. A wonderful idea, but a bucket of fail in the end.

I think you were optimistic. I think it would have gone like this:

1: Doc claims

2: You fake-claim

3: Town concludes that one of you must be lying

4: Town lynches you

5: You flip town

6: Town concludes that the Doc must be lying

7: Town lynches the doc

Yeah?

not necessarily true Pandy.

in one game i was nilla and fake claimed finder to prevent myself from being lynched. Finder CC'd me and i pulled some crap out of my ass but continued to back the person who CCd me. i point blank refused to case him and even called for them to lynch me instead of Rand to prove it. the town was so confused, they left the WIFOM alone, believing my claim and lynched neither of us. the scum were confused as well, as they didn't NK either of us as well.

fake claims by nillas can work, either to help cover the real claim or to CYA. it just depends on how you handle it and how the real power role reacts.

Yup, I was the real cop in that, it was wierd, Red claimed odd night, I said I was all night, Red turned serial killer, Jack claimed even night and they were both town. Weirdest yet really fun game. That was a lilkat game, right?

I've tried something similar in the past

I don't think it ever really works out

Arez pulled it off as caterpie in the first pokemon game. that game was so full of win all around

That was the no mafia game I believe.

It was a Serial Killer Festival, it was set up from the start to only have 1 person left standing at the end.

Nope, it was just a Kat game. With some side help from me when her computer went down heh.

Oh and I'd like to pull up my favorite quote from that game... "When in doubt shoot Nolder."

Words to live by, courtesy of Wombat.

My other favorite quote from that game was "It's clear to me we're just lovers. Then again, I am scum."

Hey guys

I know most of you know this but for those of you newer players who may not realize how important it is

Don't talk about your role in a game outside the game with anyone remotely connected to DM

Word does get around and sometimes it gets to the wrong people

Not only does this create a situation in which someone has an opportunity to cheat or sub out (depending on how honest they are) but it can also limit the availability of substitutions

Just be careful about what you say and if you tend to let things slip it's better to just not talk about games at all until after they're over

I'm sorry to see this has become a problem. I have always talked mafia with any of my friends who aren't in the game, particularly Jack and DPR, my mentors. It's never been a problem in the past. I'll be honest. I don't plan to change that anytime soon.

It's happening in multiple games all over DM now. If I find out who's been ruining games by talking about them, I can promise that I will never sign up to play in a game with them again.

Seriously, how hard is it to keep your mouth shut about a game you're playing in?

How hard is it to make sure the person you talk to isn't in the game? it just comes down to not bothering to check and that's just being lazy.

What BG said. Person A tells person B that Person C is mafia, Person B tells person D, who is town, and then we have a problem.

I guess it comes down to how much you trust your friends. I know Jack and DPR would never say anything to anyone about what we talked about.
