As BG started running out of amusing antecdotes for his WoT reading experience to write in the scenes (breaking the 4th wall!), the books also started running out of distinguishing features. A Crown of Swords was the first book that BG struggled to get through. There are some great moments, but it felt like for the first time it was missing some sort of overaching narrative that was unique unto itself.

 

It was during this book that the shear amount of names and point of views finally hit a breaking point and things started to become overwhelming in the series to the point of you can't remember who's who from previous times in the story.

 

Without much hooplah and grandioseness A Crown of Swords fades into the back of your mind as a kinda decent book, but slurs together with the books nearby it. If there are cool moments you remember, but can't remember which book they happened in... probably this one... or Path of Daggers.

 

Soo, without much hooplah... A Crown of Swords went under BG's bed as he fell asleep reading it... where it stayed... because he never bothered to pull it back out.

I loved that book, but I thought the whole Tear thing had a bit too much King Arthur in it

BG was in his last year of college and was when Towers of Midnight was released. As such, like The Gathering Storm, he just knew he needed to wait in line to get himself a book at the Midnight release party on BYU Campus... but this time, BG was going to go much earlier.

 

For the Gathering Storm BG showed up early monday for the Midnight Release on monday night into tuesday. This time, he decided to show up on saturday night. He'd be way up in line for sure this time. So he packed up a tent and a sleeping bag, dressed up as a makeshift Mat Cauthon, and headed over to the campus.

 

 

 

(Okay, so it was kinda a lame Mat costume.... also BG was fatter than normal at the time)

 

 

But there was already a pile of people camping there!

 

 

There was a little gathering of tents already lined up and BG wondered if he'd get that single digit book this year or not. People had TV's and coolers, and all kinds of things. It was late and nearly everyone was asleep so BG setup and got some shuteye himself. When Sunday morning hit, he was greeted by some great people. Looks like BG was slated to not be single digits... oh well. Such is life. Sunday was going by slowly, it was October, almost November and it was cold. The day went on and on... then something unexpected happened...

 

Brandon Sanderson showed up! He came and shook our hands and tucked under his arm was a copy of Towers of Midnight. He handed it to one of the others and said, "You look after this closely and I'll let you all borrow it." And thus BG's group readings of Towers of Midnight began. They sat around in circles taking turns reading the story out loud... and thus they spent thier time. By the time Midnight of Monday came around (which just happened to be around Halloween, so BG's Mat costume didn't look too out of place) they had finished about 1/3 of the book.

 

Like before, he waited in line, saw people with much better costumes than his, and got the book signed. BG went home, skipped school, and did nothing but read.

 

*But alas... he then moved to Houston. One of his boxes decided it wasn't going to make the trip and was left behind, and BG never saw his book again.

 

 

 

 

Nightstrike - Towers of Midnight - Vanilla Town has been NK'd.

Sorry BG, I was sleeping. Silly timezones.

 

So there is me, WoT, Turin and Dice left. I still think WoT is just a Noob, Dice and Turin are barely here enough for me to get an opinion. Actually, I can't remember the last time Turin posted in the game. Dice has been actually posting thoughts, but both him and WoT just seem to have been following my lead.

 

I am not going to vote as yet. I want to see the lay of the land first.

It has been a cruddy long week of work that started in the middle of my "holiday" weekend. The week is now over and I have missed quite a bit. Of who we have left I have some half formed thoughts as I am only going on recollections.

 

WoT: Hasn't really stood out too much. She did make a few of those statements after lynches and NKs that make your ears perk up because they seem too naive or something. She is new so it could be truly just talking with no filter or it could be an act to hide behind so any minor slips get looked over. Right now I am still leaning just New play.

 

Dice: Also hasn't made any big moves that I remember as far as getting into it with anyone regarding peoples alignment. Of the two I am leaning more to him being a lurking mafia. Especially once they started getting picked off so early it would be natural to lay low as much as possible.

 

Ithi: has been killing the mafia all game. She probably has more town cred than the rest of us put together. I think we all (including myself) have followed her lead at one time or another this game. But now it has pretty much come down to it. We have to look at everyone a little closer. I only have a nagging suspicion about her. How did she not get NKed all game?

 

That is what I am thinking about right now. I may have some time to look back at the thread tonight to see if anything stands out more to me.
