you expect me to remember 7 years ago lol?

It was a concoction of my two favorite WoT characters: Mat and Lan.

But not for the purpose of a message board handle but for the name of a fantasy character I was writing a story about.

mat

My first D&D character was "Kai-thana". I had a thing for hyphens when I was 12. Over the years, I simplified the spelling to "Kathana". I had a set of characteristics I assigned to that name. Eventually, I started fiddling with a new set of character traits and it needed a new name, so I created the name "Trevalaer". It took me until high school to standardize the spelling of it though. I still liked "Kathana" though, so I combined the two characters into "Kathana Trevalaer". Then, I realized this character had a strong sense of justice, so I added "Justinia" as a middle name.

So when I started posting on WoT forums after high school, I started using this name again because it sounds sort of WoTish and I wanted to fit in. You should all feel very lucky, because my online nick at that time was High Commander Squiggles. (Squiggles being what my handwriting looks like.)

I think I already answered this..... But oh well..

My name comes from my dreams. Dracos is my original character and I think a part of who I truly am beneath all the garbage that society has put into me.

I started dreaming of the life of Dracos when I was about 6 or so i think, maybe earlier and have been chronicling who he is/was ever since.

I wanted to create a name for DM that I could carry with me everywhere and not get sick of. I chose CHARIS because it can mean "grace/gift/charity." And I come across it a lot in my Greek studies of the New Testament. ASLAN is pretty obvious. I've loved the Chronicles of Narnia for so long. And it's the Turkish word for "lion." I chose al' to connect them so that it would read "Grace of the Lion." That was a name I knew I could live with... forever. :D

I love that your name connects the Greeks AND Turks like that. Its probably the only place they'll get along so well.

Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers and sick animals. It was the name I took when I had my Confirmation in college. I thought it sounded suitably WoTish, so I use it here.

Stole my name from a Boston boy I was dating when I was still a Wotmaniac (where we had met, yup yup). He was thinking of using it for a Warder character, and I thought it most fitting for me instead. The middle and last names (Priya and Saethyr, respectively) were chosen for a particular letter flow and rhythm :)

I use to go as Moraine. Obviously from the books. I didnt want to use the exact spelling, needed a little of my touch. I chose it after I read book 3.At which point, you learn to hate to love Moiraine. lol.... I use to play this game online Legends of Kesmai * I was an online game addict* and in the game, my family there started calling me Lady... and so I added Lady to the Moraine...

LadyMo is just the short of it.

Thats why and how I chose it. :)

I'm pretty sure Priya means 'sweetheart' in Hindii. :P

My name came about from the random conjunction of cosmic and panda.

But everyone tends to call me pandy anyway. :(

Well, I have always loved staff fighting, and at one point was very good, and since mat used a quarterstaff until he got his Ashanderie, and he is by far my favorite Character in the series, I chose StaffMaster.

For my RPing..(The Band's Quest thread, and Salidar) I use Mikel Al'Trackand, cause I like the andoran people, and the name Trackand, but I didn't want to presume to be part of the ruling family, so I added the Al' to it so that it was connected, but not directly. Mikel is just a conglomeration of my RL nickname (Mike) and my full name (Michael). I have been using that for RPing since I was about 8 or 9.

Lara Luvitt. Hmm...interesting one. I get called Lara all the time because I have long brown hair, can fit an inordinate amount of things into a very tiny backpack and a very definite deep voiced English accent so my friends started calling me Lara after Lara Croft. Luvitt is something I say to everything. You Luvitt, don't you? That kind of thing.

Winter Mist was chosen for me by the Wolfkin org - my wolf name: a description of my personality fit into a nature-type setting. That was a really flattering moment :)

The majority of my RP characters are actually all variations on those names, taken from different languages or by mixing up the letters. I'm so inspired like that :)

Ata and the rest of my first set of char names came from this norwegian fantasy serie

Ata Dorje is one of the main characters in the Amazones series...she is who it all starts with and untill her death one of the leaders..even after she stays a rolle model and their main city/capitol is named Atador

Poledra I got fromt he Belgariad and Mallorean book series by David Eddings. I was having to recreate my character cuz of some name problems I had and I wanted Polgara, but it was taken. Poledra was her mom, who was originally a wolf but could change form and became human to marry Belgarath. I also knew I wanted to joint he Wolfkin and WT and BT and Kin so the wolf thing and magic usage just kinda fit in here, lol. Also, being a wolf she was really close to nature and I was in the Tinkers. Sg... that has nothign to do with this name, I just liked the place, lol

Majsju is the Swedish word for Major 7, you'll know what it means if you play music. I picked it when I was a young innocent wotmaniac, because I definitly didn't want a name like Rand23475, and something music related felt very representative fiddle.gif

My name is Katie-Anne so I picked something similar enough to my name that I would remember and idenitfy with a little more that a name I made up... Although I was very close to calling myself Morgana - from the King Arthur stories.

I guess I'm not as creative as most of you! Good on you for putting some thought into it.

Steel Axe is the name of a super hero I play in an online game. It seemed to fit in a fantasy setting and I have used Steel as the first name of many fantasy characters before.

Raijin...well, why'd I choose Raijin well...

First of all, the Japanese culture is reeally cool, and Im not talking about the whole Anime fad thats coming out (no offence to anyone whos part of that craze, I am a little too, heh... :) ), I mean, the older stuff, with Samurai's and stuff

I also, (believe it or not to those who know me) like nature and stuff like that,

lighting, I find really cool, I dont know why...but anyways

As you may have guessed from what I just said, Raijin is Japanese and it has to do with Lighting

If so, you're right

In Japan, Raijin, is the God of Thunder, or thunder and lightning, depending,

But I mostly chose it becasue I like the name, its different.
