The Wise Man's Fear, Patrick Rothfuss. What an amazing story teller, I can't remember the last time I was so engrossed in a book.

+1

One of the finest young talents out right now. Can not wait to see how the deep undercurrents that have been hinted at play out.

"Mind", by John Searle. Good intro to the philosophy of mind.

"The Twelve", by Justin Cronin. This is the sequel to "The Passage", his first in a post-apocalyptic trilogy. Reserving judgement, but having heavy doubts so far.

II am in desperate need of new reading material. *begs* Any good recommendations? Doesn't have to be fantasy. I'll read most anything. (Well, almost. I felt my brain die a little when I read Twilight because all my sisters told me to.) Thanks all!

From the books I have read this year I would recommend the Blck Company books or Pillars of the Earth. The black Company being fantasy, and the other being historical fiction.

"Path of Daggers" on who knows what number re-read.

"The Tao of Physics" - re-read, but it's just in my car for when I don't have another book with me and find myself with some time to kill.

"The Dead Do Not Improve" by Jay Caspian Kang. New author's first book and really enjoying it so far. He has a solid voice...

Can't wait to start "Red Country" by Joe Abercrombie. A familiar figure supposedly makes his return!!!

Started The Fires of Heaven after completeing The Shadow Rising. Find my self skimming portions that seem like filler. I've never done that. Mainly because I don't really mind filler if it adds depth and richness to the story. But I think maybe I am getting impatient. Usually I read every word. Not so much this time through.

Trying to finish the Malazan Book of the Fallen series (on the 9th of the original 10 books). The most frustrating series I have ever had the pleasure to read. Could of rivaled WOT in my eyes if a decent editor would have been employed.

"Who's In Charge: Free Will and the Science of the Brain" by Michael Gazzaniga. A leading nueroscientist weighing in on theories of consciousness and free will. Really interesting, but he's a better scientist than writer. The book is organized in a weird way.

"Martin Eden" by Jack London. Splendid story. Didn't know Jack London could write like this. I guess I had it in my head he only wrote stuff for younger readers. I can definitely see his influence on Hemingway from this novel.

The Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett: fantastic historical novel, great pacing and very suspenseful. The characters are awesome lol

You Get So Alone at Times That it Just Makes Sense - Charles Bukowski

I think I'm going to reread Tolkien's The Children of Hurin when I get the chance

Seconded.  I read POtE quite a while back, but I remember liking it quite a bit.

Just started The Darkness That Comes Before at Suttree's suggestion.  Just finished the prologue, and I'm very intrigued.  Thinking I'm gonna like this a lot.

Stoked bat! Can't wait to hear what you think.

Just starting "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh" by Michael Chabon.
