Aviendha's Four Odd Kids

Any new ideas about what is going to be odd with the four babies Aviendha is supposed to have with Rand?  I'm at that point in re-reading the series (I had forgotten about it).  Maybe they are born as two sets of twins, each set opposites of their twin (1 good, 1 evil).  After all, in the past the Dragon has been the champion of the DO too right?

Greetings

I seem to remember that Min was not exactly troubled by the "oddness" of the children--it seemed less as if there was something wrong with them than there was perhaps something unexpected.  I am curious though, as to when the pregnancy will occur . . . it has been some time since rand and Avi hooked up and I don't remember any signs of pregnancy in the later books.  A One Power induced, midichlorian inspired, spontaneous conception perhaps?

Cheers.

I wonder if Avhienda is not able to have children.  It would appear that Avhienda was entirely unprepared to "drink the heartleaf tea" whilst getting it on in Seanchan, yet she doesn't appear to be pregnant.  Not that that means anything, but it might be indicative that instead of having her own children she will become the mother for Min and Elayne's kids in an Aiel sister-ceremony-thingy.

Or maybe they'll just be conjoined quadruplets....

Can anyone show us who mention this in the books and when? Ishamael?

I think if the dragon choose the shadow's side, that'll be the end.

I don't remember the exact passage, maybe later tonight I can rummage through the books.  I think it was Ishamael talking to Rand in a dream in one of the earlier books but I could be wrong.

I am sure they will all be tall with red hair, but that certainly isn't odd.

Maybe they will be born and have the abilty to channel both saidin and saidar...(kidding)...plus that would be cool, not odd.

I guess I have no clue as to why they would be odd.

And you believe Ishamael? Sorry man, but come on!

Ah yes, everytime a woman has sex without taking precautions she will get knocked up...

3)they all share the same soul. Which would be real odd...

Souls can not be split.

I have not thought much about this, since it is quite irrelevant to the main story. But just to throw something out there, what if Avi gives birth in T'A'R?

I see two possibilities:

1) Min comments in Jordan-hint fashion that she wishes she could see things about her own future children- potentially, Min and Elayne are both pregnant, and because of the sisterhood-pregnancy-Warder think one's contractions will trigger the other's, and Aviendha will suffer the birth pangs of both- making them her children by proxy. Particularly relevant if neither Min nor Elayne survives.

2) Aviendha will have kids with Rand after the body-swap occurs. So they will be hers and Rand's, but not Rand's, and Min's forevision reveals it to her as "something odd."

Someone thought up this crazy theory that Rand will be dying during the attack of the Bore and swap bodies with Moridin who will die in Rand's old body. "His blood of the Steps of Shayol Ghul". Then the Dark Ones prison is sealed and Rand goes out and lives a normal life in his new body and marrys Bela.

Something like that anyway

This is the theory I agree with, we've seen evidence that Avi cannot be pregnant but Min still might be.

I also think this theory might be more valid since that would confirm that Rand would HAVE to live in order to get Avi pregnant. Course that could simply mean he does so before going to Shayol Ghoul.

I'm not sure I agree with Rand/Moridin Body swap. Rand needs a new body and Moridin has gone and infected his with the TP and Saa is flying through his eyes now. So that's no good either. Then again Rand also has mental problems thanks to the Taint that might not be cured by a body swap.

I think Avi is unforntunaly going to go through the birthing process without giving birth so it will be all girls having the birth at or around the same time.

It's in Lord of Chaos.

It's from one of the forsaken points of views...  When Demandred is talking to graednal...  Something about when Ishy was sane, and back in the Age of legends, he was a philosopher...  and he said that in past turnings of the wheel, the tool of the creator has been something about a tool of the great lord...  That passage baffled me and i made a mental note...  Apparently the dark one and the creator both have human minoins.. champions as it were..  and rand is one..  who = the other one?  FAIN!

Which is why I said, "Not that it means anything..."  Condescend much?  I've been through health class, been married for 7 years and have two children, I think I've figured out how baby making works.  Statistically, however, unprotected sex with out any form of birthcontrol gives you a %85 likelyhood of pregnancy. (I got if off the back of my wife's BC pill packet.)

I was a fan of the body-swap theory for a while, but I think Moridin's body sucks way to much for Rand to have it.  I think Rand might end up finally cracking during TG, Moridin won't find this acceptable (same as when Lews Therin went mad) and will cleanse his mind.  So the taint will all be gone from his head, and the taint is already gone from Saidin.  Nynaeve will eventually figure out how to completely heal Rand, that or with the death of Fain and Shayol Ghul's demise his side wounds might disappear.  But that's just random speculation.

As for Avi's kids, I have no idea what is going to be odd about them... However, if Rand and Avi don't get together before TG then I think we can be fairly sure he's going to survive one way or another.  Maybe there's a strange link between the kids because their parents were bonded when they had them and it was a weird bond?  Or maybe they all have random Talents that are coming back?  I don't know.  I think it will be interesting when we find out though ^^

As to Avi being sterile remember she had sex with Rand one time. Even Elayne had two. And as to the statistics found in contraceptive devices, I also recall that rubbers are only 99% effective even if used correctly!  Makes me think that maybr, just maybe, the 85% figure for pregnency resulting from  unprotedted sex might be a bit of a scare tactic. Moreover, I think that the birth rate in America might be considerably higher if the 85% figure was accurate.

But more to the point, When I read the Something odd cooment what came to mind was the Maud Dib's sister in Dune. You know A child born with all the knowledge and powers of a full sister.  I don't know if this would make sense in WOT but it would explain why Min thought them to be "odd".

Plus, 40% of all pregnancies end in misscarriage before the woman even knows she's pregnant. So there might have been a conseption even if Avi didn't realise it.
