Oh totally. I'm still trying to work on how not to be so active in the thread, as so far, that has not been working out so well for me. But I still have this naive assumption that I can influence the thread in the way I want to. Let's just say with mixed results so far, lol, if I'm being generous 🙂

I totally understand this! I think most of us do this to varying degrees.

again, I apologize for my D1 behavior, I'm just really not a fan of this list crap. IF I play again, I'm coming out guns blazing in my first post, no lists, no spam, just business.

Oh yeah. That's one of the easiest ways to gain "wolf cred" is even when you're town, people will think you're distancing/distracting by posting too much.

You don't have to participate.  You don't have to make a list.  You don't have to even acknowledge someone is asking for a list.

As a wolf I perceived multiple new players being upset about the topic of their newness as useful.

 

i did use it somewhat, but there’s a kernel of truth in both sides of the argument.  It’s good we’re discussing this outside of the game.
 

No one should be biased against new players because they’re new.

 

On the flip side, a new player doesn’t have a technical understanding of the game, doesn’t know the other players, and hasn’t developed a style that others know how to read.  
 

This means that when I (who have played with this group for ten years) say something others may give it more weight than a new player saying the same thing.  People know I know what I’m talking about.  They may contextually disregard something a new player finds suspect because they’re know how I speak, and that’s not something the new player can easily understand.  There may be a conversation sparked off of that which the new player is fundamentally out of the loop on.  And without knowing that new players alignment, it may be impossible to have an open discussion of that disparity in the game thread.

 

on the flip side. A new player may be able to get away with freedoms experienced players cannot.  No one will ever give me a window to explain myself if I say I misunderstood a setup for instance.   
 

Experienced players aren’t going to give in on this point because they know they’re right.  It’s part of the disconnect newer players don’t get because of their inexperience ironically.  The best solution to it is what Heavy just did, play a good game.  No more new player pass, but also we’re now past that convo for next game.

I dunno Darthe. Gud and Heavy have been more on the money than some more experienced players.

 

Maybe because they don't have years of meta weighing their judgements and choices down.

 

It's kind of refreshing and they do spot the oddities.

 

They can see past how Bobby Mafia always plays and just call it 🙂

Oh I’m not pretending that is old hands are actually more talented, just that our experience gives us some leeway they’ve not yet earned.  I’m very impressed with Gud Heavy and Teph.  But they won’t let a new recruit, even one with perfect aim, run an army.

This is a good point. Making lists is a good tool for harder working mafia to appear active by "sharing" without having to be active in thread. It is easier to have good thoughts if you don't have to interact in real time as much.

 

Again, most mafia won't bother because they are winging it. They already know who is who so don't need to work as hard to solve.

This is evidence that vig is probably only even in balance imo. The role is swingy. That said it adds fun and more angles to pursue. I should have paid more attention to who appeared to be actively interested in finding the vig.

No. Right after Day started, you and Tig both asked me about having a shot. That's actively looking for the vig. I was doing a basic thing about cop, doc, vig. I left the vig blank so any mafia might worry about it, seeing if it might draw a nk attempt. I failed to think about who asked though. If I hasbeen the vig I would have shot you N1 though.
