It started out with this from my reads list:

This is referring to a part of the conversation from our QT that was left very vague.  I made note of the fact that he caught the reference...

But then I thought about it more, because as I said later, there were 4 people who posted in that QT, aside from the mods.  Dice mentioned 4 people in his QT, and with BB dead that left 16 players alive, which would divide neatly into 4 QTs.  

 

We weren't REQUIRED to post in the QT, so it's obviously possible that there were 3 with an uneven number in each, and only 3 have been referenced so far (Dice/Kat/Hoof/Kaylee, myself/Beads/+2 I haven't mentioned yet, and the one Marsh was in with others he did not specify).  Having 4 felt right to me, though.

 

But the thought occurred to me that because Illian was not in the game yet, and I highly doubt that the individual who posted under an alias in my QT was David Hermes, so if there were 4 QTs of 4 players, HOW DID HE KNOW?  

 

That thought, plus the gut feeling I was getting from his other posts, suddenly hit me.  I'd been floundering about my reads mostly because I felt fairly comfortable with most of the active players and this gave me a direction to press toward.   Hence:

@Illian Tear - can you pick out the one thing you have said today that you have no legitimate way of having knowledge of?

 

I mean, there is ONE possible explanation, but it seems highly unlikely to me.

 

^ Here's where I realized that it was possible that David Hermes might have been intended to be in the QT and the mods may have just added Illian to his PM, and instead of that neatly divided 4 QTs setup, there might have been extra people who didn't post in mine.

 

So I gave him a chance to recognize what had flagged me and explain it himself instead of feeding him the answer that would have satisfied me.

Regardless of how many QTs there are, I would not expect there to be 3 scum in a 17 player game.   25% scum is pretty standard, and with 17 total players, my best guess is 4 mafia and a SK.  It definitely COULD be otherwise, but I have been on undersized mafia teams before and it feels bad, man.  I wouldn't want to be one of three in a 17'er with 2 other people shooting at me.  Four feels better.

 

If there are 4 QTs, there COULD be one mafia in each, but it could just as easily have been completely randomed if the mods didn't have a specific mechanic planned with them.  I wouldn't use that speculation to clear or suss anyone regardless, because that is seriously game breaking as AJ noted.

Believe it or not, this is my town style. I'm not surprised you're suspicious of me, since that is usually what happens to me when I'm not Mafia. Basically, it stems from a massive zeal in finding out who is actually Mafia combined with a lesser ability to solidly read people. I have been able to before, like, for example, Hoof. Still, I sometimes fire all over the place until someone acts weird enough in response, When someone beings acting strange, I create a better environment for my townie mates and I to figure out the truth.

 

I don't know what more you need to hear from me. Yes, I'm sometimes underhanded. Yes, I sometimes work more alone that cooperatively. I do that to better create the right environment to catch the baddies.

 

I don't expect you to believe me. In fact, you'll probably think I'm Mafia even more now. I can't really change that, so maybe you'll just have to waste a good year of voting on me to get nowhere.

 

I just want to quote one thing from our supposed seer (which I am actually inclined to believe at the moment for several reasons). I have several reasons to believe he, like you, suspected me, and then peeked at me last night. It's what I would have done. His clue about me is the most direct he has been about saying what alignment someone is. Now, we don't technically know if he's the seer, but the other seer (nyn) seemed to think so. That is my case. I rest it.
