For 2. you could just have Dobraine be the steward from the beginning IMO

I hope they cast Dobraine. He was a favorite minor character for me in the books. His loyalty to Rand was total and Rand needs those types of characters around him.  I was disappointed in how his plot sorta died in the books, after he was stabbed. I hope they do him justice in the show. Hopefully better than Ingtar was in the show, who was another favorite minor character of mine in the books.

Where is that Rand's moment being lost?

They had already depowered Rand even before that confrontation with the 3(?) different times he was shielded easily.   The "battle" with Ishy at end of season two wasn't really a battle, Ishy LET Rand stab him. Ishy wanted to die once he knew that Rand wouldn't turn to the Dark.  Similarly, the "battle" with Ishy in season one was also not really a battle since no matter what Rand did, Ishy would win.

Knowing all that, I think the show is going to have a more difficult time powering UP Rand.

I am hopeful season 3 does exactly that.

She had it right off the bat and was using it to defend the Two Rivers.

Actually your confusing things. The sa'angreal that was shown in season one episode one was in the possession of Moriaine BUT could only be used by a Male channeller.

In episode eight of season one, she gives it to Rand, and he uses it in the  "battle" with Ishamael.

He should still have it so his lack of ability to prevent being shielded is even more odd if he had a sa'angreal that "thousands of male channelers had poured their power in" .

However, its never shown or mentioned that she had one for personal use IN THE SHOW, the books yes but NOT the tv show. Hope this helps clarify things.

I'm so sad that they chosen her for Elaida and not for Cadsuane.

I too wish they'd made Shohreh  in the role of Cadsuane. Hopefully they get another top actress to play Caddy.

I hope they make Elaida nasty and slightly deranged, but they do seem to want to avoid having a character being truly evil, even though there are plenty of real people throughout history that you can say were evil.  I'm really hoping they do the DO well. I'm eager to see what they come up with.

I'll use Elaida as an example - how much screen time do you think we'll get from her as Amyrlin? 20 min? 30 min? over 4 seasons? She can do a lot, but earning her outcome is going to be very difficult. So is it just better to show her sit down as Amyrlin and not again until Egwene is captured, or should they show what's happening inside so we know Egwene is justified? Decisions decisions...

Having cast such a big actress for Elaida, Shohreh Aghdashloo, i expect that they increase her time on screen much like they've done with Moiraine being Rosamund Pike.

I'm not even sure we get Shayol Ghul yet, let alone Shadar Haran. Since the seals have been repurposed to capture the Forsaken, not the DO, the whole approach to the end of the book is up in the air.  Plus, given the massive time constraints, I don't know how much Forsaken on Forsaken action we're really going to get

I'm not even sure what the Dark One's role in the show is. They've only mentioned him a couple times and not really in any details described what the attack by LTT was all about..if the DO was locked away, or anything really. The whole way the show is going to end is unknown. Interesting.

    1.  The whole Tanchico plotline is going to get cut.  That means Moghedien will have a different role, plus the Nynaeve and Elayne will have a different role.  I like Caemlyn to replace much of Tanchico.  I also think Juilan Sandar will be cut from the show.  they don't want men protecting women here, and Juilan didn't end up doing much anyway towards the end of the books.

    2.  This show desperately needs more interactions between Rand and Matt and Perrin.  For this reason, I think Matt still goes to Rhuidean.  We did see an image of Matt hanging in Ishamael hallucination scene.  I'm still hoping they keep the red stone doorway for Matt in Rhuidean, even if they significantly change some details.  Matt will still need an impetus to go to Rhuidean, and I doubt they will do the 3 question doorway from Tear at this point.  Matt will hang at some point... although they could change everything around.  But I still think they will build on Mat's memories and I think he may still feel like his memories are disjointed after remembering he was a hero of the horn.  So Matt will be exploring all the holes in his memories in season 3.

    3.  Lanfear will definitely be in this show and she might be planting seeds and pushing some of the characters to the Aiel waste.  Her role will have to be different as I don't think they will use mask of mirrors and take away from her acting abilities.

    4.  We will get a meeting of Forsaken, but it will only be 3 or 4 of them as the show isn't ready to introduce all of them yet.  Asmodean, Moghedien, Lanfear, and maybe Sammael will meet.  It's quite possible Sammael becomes the new Rahvin and takes residence in Caemlyn instead of Ilian.  Moghedien is a spider so she will be laying traps, but won't be as directly visible.  I think Moghedien will be installed in the White Tower so she can move the tower coup forward.  Mesaana is not going to be in this show as there will be 4 female forsaken and the other 2 will be Semirhage and Graendal who will show up in later seasons.

    5.  White Tower civil war will be set up.  Elaida and Siuan heavy drama will proceed.  Gawyn and Galad  and Elaida and Morgase will be shown in Caemlyn in the beginning of the show absolutely pissed that Elayne disappeared.  They will travel to Tar Valon after the first couple episodes.  Not sure if Tar Valon civil war will conclude at end of season.

    6.  Two Rivers will feature Padan Fain as a whitecloak.  The showdown will be set.  Lord Luc could also be there, setting up all kinds of showdowns for Perrin.  Not to mention Dain Bornhald being there grumbling under Fain's command.  Two Rivers should be epic.  I don't predict Verin will be in Two Rivers though, but probably Alana and her warders.

    7.  Lots of Telaranrhiod scenes will happen, and that will help push Egwene to Rhuidean.  I'm not sure what will push Rand there, but something will be setup.  I predict they use the portal stone this time to get there, but the waygate is an option too.  Perrin will also start showing up in Telaranrhiod and spirit hopper will be there guiding Perrin.

    8.  One detail from Season 2 was how Elyas told Perrin that his wife was not part of his tribe.  I'm not sure what that means yet... could it be darkfriend?  That will likely get explored in season 3.

    9.  Tom Merrellin.  He is going to return, but where will his role be?  if Matt doesn't go to Rhuidean, then it will be with Matt, but I still can't place him yet.

    10.  Rand going to Rhuidean and experiencing his Aiel lineage.  this will be a whole episode-- maybe episode 3 or 4, much like the focus on Nyaneve in season 2. This  will definitely be in the show or I will rage quit this show.

    11.  We will get Couladin set up as an imposter.  And I do think the Aiel showdown in the echo canyon will happen.  This will lead to rain and then the whole showdown with Asmodean which will be the conclusion of season 3.  Will the Choedan Kal still appear?  I think so because they still need a plot device to clear the taint on saidin.

    12.  What will Nyaneve and Elayne do all season?  I don't know but I suspect they may be at the White Tower and then doing a little black ajah hunting along with Verin to nudge them.  They will probably encounter Liandrin and maybe we even get a Nyaneve showdown with Moghedien.

Any thoughts on who the 2nd Forsaken that Rafe mentioned being in season three ?

I know we have Mogi, so is the 2nd one Sammael who was mentioned in ep 8 of season 2 or Asmodean or another Forsaken we've not had confirmed.

Perrins shield he got from Uno Cain.  Does he end up keeping it? I assumed it disappeared when heroes vanished but it appears to be on top of rubble pile in last overhead shot of EF5+Andorinita.  In this turning no Mjolner maybe power shield?

The "magic shield" bit made me raise my eyebrow. I wish it had disappeared once the Heroes of the Horn had returned to dust or returns to the normal shield it was when Uno was alive. Please, Rafe, no magic shield in season three or beyond. 🙏

You are free to ignore. But people are welcome to express their opinions here whether I agree with them or not. It's not meant to be an echo chamber. Those who can't or won't defend their arguments typically leave.

I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Sympathy isn't warranted to those who insist on coming into this forum only to bash the show and attempt to create false arguments and intentionally trying to bait those who enjoy the show. The show isn't perfect but it's better than not having one at all. By entering into discussion with such people, we only encourage them to continue. Ignoring them is the better option.

If I'm wrong to say this, I'm sure the moderators will do their duty but I felt I had to say it.

My biggest gripe was that I don't see how that flimsy ad hoc Ashandarei could hold together through that fighting, lol.

A little disappointed Rand didn't get a bigger moment to shine. Then again, they haven't really established how he could have done much more than he did either with the sword or the Power. At least that's consistent storytelling.

RE: Rand. Whatever happened to the sa'angreal that Moraine gave him in season one ? Surely he still has it and with it be able to hold off Siuan et al when they are able to shield him.

Yeah, that Ashanderai needs to be re-tooled to be inside a spear casing, lol. just tied to a bed post doesn't seem sufficient LOL

but back to Fain, in the books his story kind of drifts off, it feels liek once he created him RJ wasn't really sure how to end his arc, and then we get BS awful ending. I think we might see Fain die far far sooner. The important thing here is Shadar Logath and the part it plays later, Fain as a character doesn't realy do much other then stab Rand (and kill off a few people Rand want's dead).

I was so hoping the show would have a fuller version of Fain. Perhaps in season 3.

No. But does everything have to be spelled out? Or do you think audiences are capable of making reasonable inferences?

I'm not going to make a judgement on what people are capable of, that's a landmine I ain't stepping on LOL

But didn't the show say they'd do more showing than telling ?  I think they had two eps of Lan with Alanna et warders & Verin etc and not once did we see any inkling that Lan had a plan beyond perhaps planting the lanfear verse for them to find but no clip of him speaking to Verin about it.  They had the time to do it, forgo the Lan peeing scene, and you've got time for a short clip of him and Verin.

Unfortunately wheel of time keeps hitting so many problems: covid, post production backup delays, writer's strike.

I really hope they don't turn this into an every 2 year show, but that seems possible.  If they can't get it out annually I bet they will try to go the 5 season arc instead of 8 season

This is true. It's always a trip wire until the next season is green lit. I expect season four to be greenlit but i'll be on pins and needles til that happens. Re" 2 year time frame, the extra time they took for season two really paid off and so I expect that trend to continue. I wonder if the amount of money Amazon invests in each season increases which considering the massive expansion of the world in each succeeding book will become increasingly more difficult to adapt. They told us to gird our loins re season two...i expect that to be a theme throughout the rest of the show.

Do we have a runtime for S2E8? I don't know if those are revealed in advance. I really feel like 60 minutes can't do justice to the remaining plot points.

I mean it's logical to have the final episode be longer than the first seven. I'm betting it's 65-70 minutes actual running time, minus recap and short title sequence.  Wish it would be 90 minutes but not holding my breath.
