As the morning came, Arthur crept about the halls going to meet Guinivere. When he came to their secret meeting place, he patiently waited for her to show... ten minutes passed... then half an hour, and then an hour... she was not coming. Saddened by her obvious rejection, he went to go see Morgana when Merlin came running up to him.

 

"Arthur, something's happened to Gwen!" Merlin's eyes looked haunted. "Morgana found her in the stables."

 

Arthur's heart dropped. It couldn't be! The thought of his love injured sent him sprinting down the halls toward the stables. Merlin followed behind him, and it didn't take long before they saw the guards surrounding the stables. Walking into the stables, he saw Morgana off to the side, eyes wet and tear tracks down her cheeks. Gaius was knelt next to a small body.

 

Falling to his knees, Arthur stared at Gwen's face. Her eyes were wide with shock and her mouth parted slightly open. He gently closed her eyes and tried to blink back the tears that threatened to fall. "What happened?"

 

Gaius looked sadly at Arthur and replied, "Her neck has been snapped."

 

"I will find whoever did this, and I will kill them."

 

Merlin's own eyes were watery, but through it, he watched Morgana and saw a gleam of triumph in her eyes.

 

Tiinker, Guinivere (Gwen)- vanilla town has been Night Killed.

The following is an interesting interaction.

 

Say you aren't mafia then?

 

Tink wants Mish to state she isn't town.  Implying there is a LD in the game.

I'm not mafia, or third party. I am town.

And for good measure: I am not cult either.

 

Mish does so.

 

Say all in same sentence plz

Now it's yours and Krak's turn. Actually, everyone should do it! :biggrin:

 

She gives him the sentence she wants.  My initial thoughts are this is a very town move..except the smiley faces are a bit strange for the discussion going on.

 

Now day rolls around and Tiink is dead.  It looks like someone didn't want a statement checked.  Either Mish (who would have likely been the target of a check) or one of the few who jumped on the statement wagon after. 

 

The scum team could also be trying to set Mish up to look like she didn't want her statement looked.

Mafia may have been fishing for an LD but that doesn't say anything about anyone still living.

 

Thorum seems to be trying to act scummy now, which is odd. Also, AJ seems to be less active than she was D1, which is curious.

 

Gonna read a bit.

The appearance of someone being non-chalant always triggers my inner poker player.  People act strong with weak hands and act weak with strong hands.  Happens in mafia to.  When someone seems purposefully non-chalant it seems they are hiding something to me.

So our story starts with some thoughts I've been having lately.  I've been thinking about making a Kingkiller Chronicle mafia setup.  Fascinating books btw.  I highly recommend them.  Anyways, the most powerful magic in that series is Naming.  If you know the deep name of something, you can call it to do your bidding, hence the name of the first book.  I'd been thinking of adapting the concept as an anti-reveal mechanic.  Anyways, this is actually not that unusual an idea.  Germanic paganism usually held that words were magic.  The idea of someone scratching runes on a piece of stone or wood and then someone else being able to read his thoughts was pretty amazing to the illiterate.  This of course led to various beliefs about language being magic.  One of the most interesting was that you could use someone's name to place a curse or hex on him or her.

 

Sort of casts Thorum's insistence on a character reveal from our cop in a new light, huh?

Also, for those of you wondering what Germanic paganism has to do with Arthurian myth, I will tell you that the Anglo-Saxons were a Germanic people and therefore used a Germanic, runic alphabet called the futhorc, which was derived from the Elder Futhark, the runic alphabet of the Norsemen and other Germanic peoples.
