*swears* Alright, my WoT is a goner :sad: I'll put in numbers and put the comments in the next post so I know who said what.

So, page 2 already. At least we have activity. Let's start off with some good old setup talk. I think this game is liable to have goblins, Smaug, Gollum, or possibly even Spiders or Wights as mafia/ third party. I also am assuming that we have an SK/Survivor/etc in this and that we shouldn't have anymore damn cult etc. Thoughts?

It's an advanced game but to me the only obvious roles are the town (dwarves/hobbits) and mafia (goblins/wargs/spiders). Gollum could be a cult leader since wearing the ring slowly poisons your mind and turns you. Smaug seems like an obvious 3rd party choice though someone with more experience than I might be able to weigh on on what role that could be.
Also, I'm thinking there will likely be some mithril armor (BPV) floating around for protection against night kills? Thoughts?

I would prefer not to spend our time and energy talking setup. Especially now as it is all pure speculation. Imo it allows the mafia to steer conversations and introduce thoughts that allow them to misdirect the town.

That said even arguing about it wastes time better spent searching for mafia. So I will take my own advice and stop now. Others will continue despite my objection. I can't do much about that.


While I agree with you on the setup talk thing, the second paragraph makes it seem like you're already resigned to let town do their own thing and not involve yourself in the discussion. I understand not wanting to waste energy arguing about something relatively trivial, but saying you won't give your input on the matter anymore seems to kind of be against the point of the game.

I mean, we're pretty much SUPPOSED to argue about trivial stuff, aren't we?

I don't like this post. First there's the cult thing, but more important imo is the second part. Why are you waiting for the QLDers to show up before you start playing? Shouldn't you be trying to scumhunt regardless of whether or not the subjects of your joke vote are here?

Because I'm tired of reading posts about setup talk would anyone like to discuss the book and/or the new movie? Esp since this is day 1 and I would like to get to know everyone better


Personally I think such discussions are best left until night time.

Ok, that pings a bit with me. You're on L-7 and you're claiming town? I think that's kind of weak, but I stick by my wombat vote. I am not getting the town read everyone else is, and no, I'm not think over-towny. I'm getting a town read from Despo though.


I did this because I have too much experience of going to work and coming home to 10 more pages. In that case it is not inconceivable that i would be lynched before i even got home. This is as i stated in the post i made.

This is not my first mafia game but anyone who has the misfortune to see me play mafia before being replaced would know that I know nothing about mafia. So, bear with me or vote me so I don't have to play it anymore and I can keep hating mafia games.

Turin, my top two suspects right now are Dice and you. I have not stopped looking at Starrik, but I am willing to give him a reprieve for now. I don't know how much time we have but I do know that if we don't achieve a lynch, our chances of winning drop dramatically.


We need to reach a lynch if we can. How about we lynch Lenlo? Starrik has not been cc'ed. We will fnd out most likely if there is a poisoner out there or not. Maybe we even find out if Starrik is what he claims.

That your top 2 candidates for lynch today are both claiming characters that we expect will be in the game and will be town is something that raises my eyebrows. I already had suspicions on you but no one else seemed interested so I switched to Lenlo. I still think he is the best option for today.

Despo, you can say that it is a stretch if you like. I know what my role PM says and in my opinion I am confident the dwarves will be town. Might there be some sort of exception? yes. But I think the vast majority of the dwarves in the game will be proven to be town. The fact that I may have a way to verify this and you are ignoring that is troubling. As for Dice and the setup talk, wasn't all he said that he hoped there would be no cult because he had recently had a bad experience. It seems that you are blowing his involvement in that situation out of proportion.

Back to this game, I feel that Turin is most likely town and found it really interesting that Despo flipped a troll.  Their are a ton of ways that that could go in the mods eyes.  Do you all think the other trolls are in the game and if so how do they relate?  I am thinking the mafia may be bigger than I thought my first time.

looking at the story  id say the likely characters for mafia and or third party would be the three trolls smaug gollum and a spider.'

 

i dont think this is a big enough game for the lake men to be a separate group.  there may an eagle too but that would be town aligned

As the dwarves were sleeping, mysterious creatures moved around.  Gandalf was awake when suddenly a dwarf got dragged by a massive creature and thrown against a tree.  Then he was burned, bitten, and clawed at, until he could barely breathe.  He shouted and the dwarves awoke, and mended their wounded friend.  Gandalf sighed, that was too close to death.  Suddenly, he heard a rustle above him and a prick in his back.  He turned around as fast as he could and blasted the creature away.  Lucky that he was attentive.  He didn't feel so good though.  Well, at least no one had died.  Time to keep moving.
