I was actually quite sad I was recruited. I kept playing to protect mafia and cult. In my opinion the extra 2 recruits after Tress died made cult overpowered in terms of balance.

 

Good game. Quite fun.

Darthe, all cred to you man, you did your very best! He stayed in the QT trying to help us as well as he could, and if BG and me hadn't gotten converted, mafia probably would have won. So I dub Darthe honorary winner *nods*

 

 

And yay, this is the first game I've been where I've survived to the end!

I don't think the two extra recruits were unfair. Tress could only recruit odd nights, and started out solo. Without the extra recruits Mish and I wouldn't have stood a chance

I didn't really see that it overpowered the cult - for the reasons Des already stated heh.

Feedback: I think the game went well and was a bit heavy handed in the beginning with the town confirmations. I would have probably made mafia unrecruitable to fix this (if the cult tries to recruit one then they know a mafia member so it is self balancing) and beyond that I like your setup, though I am being difficult at the moment due to the effort I put in (read the QT if you don't understand). BG, you've played well.

forgot to mention, the reason cult recruiting mafia is a broken mechanic is that it allows cult to influence the NK, thus deciding who is left in the game, and also since no mafia expects it to happen it allows cult to manipulate the mafias vote. IE: cult vs. mafia = doomed mafia 100% of the time. Even if the cult doesn't use its freaking obvious advantages there (cult is more hidden than mafia, is able to turn claims against people where mafia isn't etc) they still know who the entire mafia is the second they get a recruit on their side and can use that to gain infinite town credibility. /end

The mafia we recruited couldn't tell us who the other mafia were Darthe, which I think was def fair.

 

And if cult can't recruit someone, they can't automatically assume that that person is mafia since some mods make certain town roles unrecruitable. You're right in that recruiting mafia can lead to cult possibly controlling the NK, but that's just something you have be to be aware of if you're mafia and you find out cult is in the game.

 

Had we only recruited one mafia, you might have figured out something was up, we kinda just got lucky in recruiting two diff mafia

 

Also, you're right in that cult does have certain advantages over mafia in some situations, but conversely mafia has some advantages over cult as well. The fact is, once our recruiter was killed we were put at a big disadvantage, two extra recruits or not. We got lucky and made some good choices with our recruits overall tho, which is what made the difference I think

I would disagree that cult has any disadvantage except that it can lose its night ability. It eliminates power roles, bypasses claims, upstarts mafias, and misleads games.

Then I'm removing myself from further discussion, as adding things to a game that has already been balanced as well as it could be is fundamentally flawed.
