Question for you all

Hey peeps,

So I just ran an alternate game called Assassins in the Palace. It is slightly different than your normal game, but still easily a mafia game. I have others like this that usually only take 5-10 players.

I'd like to randomly run them outside of the normal queue. As you can see with the Assassins game, not counting the weekend it only took a couple days to complete. Several of the games I have are like that - so while technically Advanced, they aren't full-time games.

Are you folks ok with me running these once in a while outside the normal queue? I won't do it if people have an issue with that, so let me know.

Thanks,

-Verbaliscious

Seeing as I totally wanted in on the last one but wasn't quick enough to grab a spot, I have no problem with it. I think it would be a nice change of pace to run these once in a while.

Ok, cool - thanks for the feedback peeps. I'll pick and choose the times - maybe when a bunch of people are dead in a large game and just waiting around....makes a good time for a smaller game to run that is interesting enough and not basic.

It's ok, we have specially sized doors here to accomodate my awesomeness.

And also, STOP PICKING ON ME!!

Oh, you haven't seen me picking on you yet. Just wait.

Remind me to apologize to you later. I may even tell you what I said that warrants apologies, but it can't be discussed yet.

I always wondered what that avatar was supposed to be but never got around to asking.

Also, he deserves to be picked on every so often.

Too many wimmenz 'ing on him, in addition to too many mafia wins... gotta make sure he remembers he's mortal.

it's fine with me

I'm still of the opinion that a queue is unnecessary and/or ineffective

If you'd been around a few years ago, you'd understand the need.

i disagree, a que is needed. even now.

- allows mods to judge how long they have to flesh out their games

- allows people to know how many are infront of them when they sign up

- simple easy place for everyone to keep in order who is next to place a game

- keeps people from jumping in line

- keeps multiple types of the same game from being ran (like 4 advanced games at the same time)

-don't post it till it's ready obviously

-unnecessary

-unnecessary

-but if there was no line...

-but 4 advanced games still get ran at the same time most of the time

sorry I just don't see the point in trying to limit games in this subforum when 3-4 other subforums routinely run games

not to mention games that people play/run on what I'm going to refer to from now on as cousin communities such as JN and MJ

people are often in 2-5 games at once

sometimes while modding 1-2 games of their own

having a queue is ineffective at limiting the number of games being ran at once and the number of games people play in at once

hey you guys like having a queue by all means keep it

as I said I think it's ineffective so it's not like it's hurting me any (although running my games when they're ready would be pretty cool, been sitting on some for like a half a year now)

Understood, but there is a big difference here - advanced games get reviewed before they run here. In other groups and sites, this doesn't happen. Wes and I have talked about this before - it makes DM Mafia board the place to be for advanced games that you know are reasonably balanced.**

**caveat here for games like Lily & Kat's running now - Lily is one of the best mods we've got, so I'm 100% confident that game is kosher. But even the best mods still reach out to a buddy for a second pair of eyes.

Plus, having a queue here does still limit the number of mafia games on the site, even if other people are running games elsewhere on DM. If there was no queue, you'd have even more games running. And actually, the Social Groups don't run as many as they used to, either. The fact is, we went through a huge period of inactivity in games because there were so many going on and players would spread themselves too thin. Or, you know, they wouldn't, and people couldn't get enough players to sign up for their game. After going through that, yeah, I'd say queue is necessary.

Besides, the Social Groups that run mafia games all do a queue as well. They never have more than 1 game going on at once either.
