There are a few for sure!

1) Mat telling Lan and Bashere exactly how to fight the Shaido just before he kills Couladin. They watch him walk away and realize he came up with as good a plan as they did in 2 minutes.

2) When Mat realizes the Talmanes does have a sense of humor, he just laughs on the inside.

3) When Aviendha finds out that Mat willingly broke into the Stone of Tear, knowing it was full of Forsaken and Black Sisters in order to save the girls and tells them they all have toh to him.

4) When Aviendha and the others bond Rand and she cries because Rand endures a mountain of pain.

5) When Rand and escort see the Steam wagon and he realizes it was the guy who was at his school. He thought it was perhaps some kind of instrument at first. (I am a steam engineer)

6) Semirhage noting Min and how her knifes had tasted her flesh twice. Min may not be super tough, but she dont take no $&!# off no one!

7) Taim, "Let the Lord of Chaos rule."

Sooooo, many others!

Those are all AWESOME Ones, firstfishman!!!

Oh! Me thought of two more!!!

1 Once Rand's been kidnapped by Elaida, Perrin and Dobraine keep nervously eyeballing this servant who is acting all crazy - they think shes some unbalanced local servant....she then flings off her disguise and its Sulin and she threatens to kick their (and Berelain's) A$$ - LOL!!!

2 Dobraine, Perrin and Rhuarc outside the enemy camp at Dumai's Wells (this is a parprahse):

Dobraine to Perrin: ''You want us to go into THAT??''

Perrin nods.

Dobraine to Perrin: ''Youre serious??''

Perrin nods.

Dobraine to Perrin: ''We're going in; but I doubt we're coming out.''

This time Rhuarc nodded.

...LOL!!! I don't know why that always cracked me up, LOL - just Rhuarc accepting the reality of the situation like a true Aiel, I guess. Man, I wish I could remember that part exactly, lol!

I've noticed with the series finally drawing to a close, it is easier to appreciate the slower moving books. They may not have the tempo or signifigance of some of the earlier or later books, but they have thier moments.

I am curretly rereading A Crown of Swords and just got done with a Broken Crown. While a lot in that chapter is good, my favorite part is how the nobles are all scared ****less of Rand and the Ashaman AND the maidens, Colaveare is scared but defiant, Perrin is scared about Faile, Annoura is shielded and scared of the Ashaman, Min is worried about Rand, Rand is trying to figure out a way to not have to kill Colaveare. It's a big, powder keg of events. And Perrin looks around the room, and Loial is writing like mad trying to catch all the details for his book

Ok.This is going to be long, but, in the interest of ''conserving space'', I am going to try to hit as many birds with one stone as I can. Apologies for any misses.

@ Val Mickey: Thanks for such a nice statement. This series amkes it easy. Its close to my heart. I met Mr Rigney when he was touring for the hardback of ''Eye'' - what a gentleman.

@Waffle: That really was funny when the girls bonded Rand and Nyn was all stunned and off-kilter. She just kepts saying ''I helped raise him - I helped raise him.'' LOL!

@Terrel88: Well, lets be fair: Morgase IS hot, lol! ;)

@Sumquy: Oh yes. VERY Chilling.

@Trench: Mat was really funny getting stiched up by Nerim.

@Shells: That was a REALLY sad conversation between Nynaeve and Rand in TGS. I agree completely.

@Thanatos: I always enjoyed the interactions between Alvi and Elaida. Classic Tug of War. One that really never had a winner, I guess.

@Vermillion: I always felt like Rand and Mat's adventures in EOTW were amazing - and underappreciated.

@Sid: I always got ALOT of amusement out of Min's time at the White Tower, lol. Nothing was better than when she was trying to just ACT like a silly girl then really DID start acting silly around Gawyn/Galad because their so good looking, lol.

@Suttree: Realizing that Cadsuane entered Far Madding fully ''armed'' was an early moment for me realizing how Bad-A$$ she was.

Thanks for all the contributions eveyone - they give me alot of enjoyment to read - keep em coming! :)

There are so many good scenes but the one that sticks in my mind is when Rand is attempting to travel by portal stone and ends up living the hundreds of lives he could have had if things had gone differently.

I have always LOVED ''Alternate Reality'' type scenes. Buffy and Angel did them superbly, as just one example. Smallville and X Files also did some great ''What Could Have Been'' episodes as well.

And Jordan did them wonderfully as well. He had alot of ways at his disposal to do it too:

Portal Stones...Rhuidaen...The Testing Arches in the White Tower...Forsaken (like Lanfear in TGH) Mind-Torking...and I loved the way he used them all.

Since I am still somewhat novice-y I am not *totally* sure about the quote boxes, but I wanted to comment that; Fish, I think it's HILARIOUS that on the first page one of your posts accidentally says "Perrina." Just a typo but it made me lol! I mean, I have thought he needed a swift kick here or there. Perhaps someone should have put him in a dress?

Along with lots of you I love the Rand/Nyn tGS convo. Those personal moments are the best. IIRC, wasn't that what prompted her to decided to "help" him? Everyone else is trying to lead/goad him, and she is trying to relieve some burden. I REALLY like her for that.

Also, the scene with Nyn rallying the Malkieri. A tear might have leaked out. There was definitely some fist pumping action.

ANY time that Aes Sedai show ANY humility. That includes Moiraine agreeing to help Rand on his terms, and the times Teslyn has actually shown Mat gratitude for saving her arse, etc. etc. Wouldn't it be nice to see more of that?

Moiraine kicking ass. Anytime. Can I get a huzzah? Lanfear must have been pretty surprised when a dinky Aes Sedai suddenly plowed right into her. Muahaha! YES!

For me the most recent one would have been that last part in tGS where Rand almost kills Tam, proceeds to Ebou Dar and almost destroys the city, then on to DM where he almost destroyed the whole word. Although I'm quite sure that counts as an epic scene.

Anyway, if I were to pick a favourite scene of mine, it would be a part in TSR (I think?) when Moiraine said in response to Egwene's question about how Moiraine why Moiraine was letting Rand rule over her. "Why? Because I learned how to control saidar.

And at the end of that same chapter, Egwene realised that "Moiraine had been speaking to her as an equal throughout that conversation". I kinda liked that part.

And lastly, I remember this scene from somewhere (totally no idea which book), where Elayne was having her bath and the Windfinders demanded to see her, eventually entering Elayne's bathroom in the middle of her bath.

"Daughter of the Sands" is a pretty insult IMO. I love how RJ invented insumts for every cultures, and those don't sound rude at all, but are from their point of view.

I love the campaign Mat performed in KoD, and all the chapter from Mat PoV in WH, trying to flee Ebou Dar. And the courting of Tuon (The Razor, the cluster of Rosebuds, the dreses, and all).

The trip from the White Tower to Tear, via Caemlyn. When Mat wander through Tar Valon with the meeting with Thom in "The Woman of Tanchico". Did you ever wondered if the inn Mat goes in are all foreshadowing?

The fight with the Trolloc in Kinslayer Dagger, when they take the Horn back from Fain. Rand fighting saidin back with his sword, the Choedan Kal in Tremonsien.

The dancing with Betse in "a different dance", LoC. Talmanes and two other nobles chuckling in theit mug whime hearing Mat trying to seduce a too-much-talking-with-too-much-wits maid.

The fight with Torval in WH, amazing fight, with bare hands. A flash raid from Rand's part. The first time I read it I was just... "No! Really?? Wow nice guy!" :)

Nynaeve cutting the horses's rope whime Lan was making Perrin and Egwene escape from a Whitecloaks camp and Moiraine making bad weather. Another escape from a Whitecloak camp in tSR, when they save Master Luhhan and the other prisonner.

Cont....

When Mat was giving it to the Seafolk, the one threw her knife at him. Clearly, she intended to kill him. Mat caught it out of mid-air and never missed stride. It didnt even register as being signifigant to him. They all sit there and look at him in awe afterwords...

"That dress you are wearing is green".... Not the revalation that Verin was black, Egwene's reaction to it...

"Sometimes a wife has to do what the husband cannot".... Not the death of The Prophet, Faile's non-chalance of it...

"Until this is over, my authority must not be questioned".... trying to imagine the look on Egwene's face. It must have been epic to have cowed the AS she said it to so quickly...

elaida being carried offf in a sack by the Seanchan... Serves her right, stupid bee-otch!

Rand, after seeing Aviendha dead - "'Rahvin', he said. Or someone did. He was not sure who."

Yeah that was awesome. Also when Rand stood outside a gateway, lightning in his hands, and he steps through screaming Rahvins name. Kickass.

I also really like it when Mat is stood outside the building Carridin and Sammael are in. Especially with the facts that Mat knows its a Darkfriend house and Sammael knows Mat has just been stood outside. When I first read that I immediately imagined up several scenes/outcomes involving Mat vs Sammael. Like, Sammael being drawn towards Mat continually and is paranoid that hes caught in a Ta'veren web, knowing that if he confronts Mat directly the Pattern will kill him, and eventually Mat and the Band fight a group of Whitecloaks involving Carridin and purges them... Im glad how the Whitecloaks thing played out though. I like Galad, I hope he does some good stuff with the Whitecloaks. Like begins to remake their image, renew the Light side of it, possibly even attach them to the White Towers, more specifically, the Warders.

Imagine that, if the Ashaman and Aes Sedai worked together and had entourages of bonded and unbonded soldiers, all trained in the forms of the Warder? All they'd need now is a sniffer like Hurin and a Wisdom-type to help the channelers if they fell ill, and you'd have a pretty versatile law enforcement unit/adventuring party.

At the End of Eye of the World when they find the Dragon Banner and the horn of Valere and for the first ever time read the words;

"the grave is no bar to my call"

Damn, gives me shivers just thinking about those words, no other author can do that!

also, the prophesy from the Essanik cycle in my Sig at the end of tGS about a blind man standing on his grave and seeing again and weeping for what was wrought. Just brings it all together at the end of that book i think

Some lines that will always stick with me -

Young Bull : 'If I don't free the falcon, I don't care, brother.'

Hopper : 'Then we hunt, brother.'

************

That was a thought to cause despair, but he did not cry, for tears could not come from steel.

************

Every wolfhound must face his first wolf, but if the wolf sees him as a puppy, if he acts the puppy, the wolf will surely kill him. The wolfhound must be a wolfhound in the wolf's eyes even more than in his own, if he is to survive. - :lan: to :moiraine:

************

Life is a dream that knows no shade.

Life is a dream of pain and woe.

A dream from which we pray to wake.

A dream from which we wake and go.

************

Sheepswallop! Sheepswallop and bloody buttered onions!

One I reread last night that really stood out for me that I am going to add to this category because I think its a really worthy addition for this topic. Amid all the fast action of TGS its a quieter part, more subtle, but thats the point of this thread so hopefully it fits:

Towards the end of TGS, Eqwene's conversation with another Aes Sedai, I thin a Red (Silviana, maybe?) and she has this conversation about the Red Ajah and how they CAN heal and how Egwene has all these plans for the Red and how the Red WILL be a proud Ajah again. Egwene then names a Red as her Keeper.

I like it.

That bit with Ingtar coming back to the light is pretty good. My favorite has to be Mat kicking the a$$es of Galad and Gawyn with his quarter staff while barely out of a sick bed, and the comment about the greatest swordsman ever being beaten by "a farmer with a stick" :mat:

That is also one of my favorites.

Mat's conversation with Setalle Anan where he first realized she used to be an Aes Sedai and they agree to keep each other's secrets seemed to be a scene that got overlooked by many readers but has always been a ''low key'' favorite of mine.

Fish

One of my most anticipated scene is when Satelle is healed and once again can use saider.

One scene I am fond of is when the leader of the Death Guard troop who is searching for Tuon walks into the Band's camp and addresses Thom as the leader and Thom has to tell him that no he is not and that young man who just road up is and then we get to see Mat from his PoV. Classic.

Hah! I love that one too. Together with: "Cauthon looked like a man watching an arrow fly toward his face, knowing he had no chance to dodge." once Tuon decided to marry him right there and then.

On scene that always grips me is Nynaeve surrendering to saidar.

You can just see the moments in it so clearly:

The boat is sinking... Staying cool and looking for a way out... The boat just struck bottom... More searching, The water inside are rising... No more air, beginning to panic... Drowning and thrashing around... Accepting death and surrendering... The glow of Saidar appears... Seeing the sunken boat form outside suddenly explodes... Onlookers on the river see the water rising from an underwater explosion that capsizes a small boat... Nynaeve floating upwards... Someone grabs her and she starts to struggle... No more surrendering.
