Discuss it now. Or rather, tomorrow when the Prologue comes out.

I'm calling it as Fain.

Seems likely. Though it may be the BLANK.

is the blank a thing or a person?

We dunno--but its in the blight, and no one knows its there.

I thought we wouldn't figure out what the BLANK in the Blight is until AMoL? However, I think I read somewhere that there will be hints about it in ToM.

I call it as Slayer. I know everybody think Slayer has no reason to sneak around in the Blight or whatever, but i think even the Forsaken have to creep around in the Blight. Who knows what lurks in there?

Plus, Slayer has been described as not all human or not completely human more than Fain has.

Finally, maybe Slayer is under orders by one of the Forsaken to sneak around to discover Moridin's fortress in the Blight. That would cause him to creep around, attempting to go undetected.

The PoV in the blight that's lost humanity I'm gonna agree with others and guess Fain. The unnoticed BLANK in the blight, I have no idea what it could be really. Something that allows for the Dark One to breed millions of trollocs would be my best guess. How this is revealed, well maybe it's revealed through Rand & Moridin's link assuming they continue to merge. Surely if someone knows of this BLANK in the blight, it would be Moridin and the Dark One so the revelation will involve them.

As I said in the other thread, I think its a city, and that city is where Demandred has 'secured his rule'.

That would make sense. There has to be some sort of infrastructure set up to house and feed the hundreds of thousands of trollocs that are in the Blight.

That honestly makes much more sense than some sort of magic transporter of off-world Trolloc colony. We already saw an organized fortress, and then there's Thakan'dar. I don't expect Trollocs to need as much sustenance as we'd expect for creatures of that size because they're partially created with the True Power (we know the Fades are slightly twisted out of reality). You also just have to set up lots of kennels, really. The trolloc women are basically just breeding machines, spitting out litter after litter of ankle-biters. Plus I'd expect Trollocs to mature quickly, like most animals do within a year or two. They don't need much actual living space. I really don't know if Demandred would need to secure his rule there, though. Wouldn't he just show up and tell whatever Darkfriend leaders that are there "You follow my orders now or I kill you and feed you to the ankle-biters?" Shadowspawn are largely incapable of disobeying one of the Chosen, so he'd just have to tell the humans to piss off.

Ahhhh, it was Fain. :D Not really a LOT of details, but enough to make it obvious he's the Shadowspawn thief. And Mashadar...that rocks. I was thinking RJ had ruled it out, but I should have known better. It makes a lot more sense that way.

I don't think he was the one who sent the attack on Rand as it had fades and Fain seems to have grown weary of them, he seemed to regret not being able to torture the one he encountered to death.

He's just upset that he can't play with them any more...he only has to touch one to kill it. It's clear now that he was the one to send the attacks, more than ever before. Sammael could not be transmigrated because his soul was corrupted by Mashadar, and while Fain had no connection to the city itself (so its destruction didn't harm him), he apparently DOES have a connection to Mashadar. That seals the deal on its own IMO, and then there is the fact that he is trying to help push Rand toward Shayol Ghul so that he can make good on his two chief loves at once. The Shadowspawn served that purpose - Fain probably never thought they would succeed any more than he thought his Whitecloaks in Caemlyn would.

Also, I think I see signs of recent communion with Machin Shin. Fain no longer even identifies with EITHER Fain or Mordeth. He needs a new name. He repeats to himself words similar to the cheerful thoughts of Machin Shin, I think.

First of all, awesome prologue.

Related to this topic.

Who here thinks Fain is hunting for the wrong guy, i.e. Moridin. He is going deeper and deeper into the Blight, his target being Rand. Isn't that a bit odd, seeing how Moridin has been lounging in the Blight for some time now.

FAIN vs. MORIDIN The ultimate villain showdown!!!

Good idea about Fain hunting Moridin-- that idea is entirely possible. I am very intrigued to see what Fain will do next.

I can't believe how powerful Fain has become. Here is a question for those well-versed in WoT: Was it Fain that created the mists that destroyed the rebel Cairhien army or was it a bubble of evil? It seems more likely now that it was Fain himself that destroyed Caroline Damodred's army.

One last thought: Could it actually be Fain that was leading the attack on Kandor right now?
