[DPR Mafia] Call-Your-Shot Mafia- Points being posted...

I'm not trying to lay low anywhere - just getting my head around these massive speculation posts that I'm not used to. Everyone is suspicious - whether extremely vocal or quiet. Those being overly vocal could well be using it as a deliberate distraction from the common theory that the quiet ones are the mafia trying to lay low. *shrugs* I'm just thinking, reading, thinking, breaking my brain trying to think mainly lol. Call it an excuse if you will, but playing mafia with a bunch of people who are essentially strangers is very different from playing with people you've chatted/interacted with often. I normally like to lead a day one bandwagon, often I did this goodnaturedly against a friend, whether I was mafia or not. Obviously, I can't do things quite like that with a different bunch of people. So I'm thinking. :)

About Wombat agreeing with me - it's good for the town. I'm the Evangalist. When somebody posts that specific phrase, it changes my abilities at night. I won't reveal what happens exactly, since that would give too much away to the mafia. But that's the reason for my wanting him to say that.

Lily's normally much more proactive than this. I'm thinking she's trying to lay low - much like Lavinyayaa.

Why this reveal?

Pandy, love, I am not lying low. I am actually busy. I'm checking in often enough. I'm also juggling too many games, and trying to stay afloat. I'm having enough trouble keeping my roles (or lack of) straight, let alone poke at people, but never fear, I will get around to that. It's fun. *grin*

If you must know, I am going to an SCA event in a few weeks. (It's a medieval reconstruction society.) We haven't played in years, so my daughter needs all new garb. Min is helping me sew, but even so, there's a lot to do. I've already discussed the LOA with Wes on thread, so that ought to be all the explanation you need.

Just because I haven't attacked you, as per normal, doesn't mean I'm scum, silly. As it turns out, you actually aren't pinging my radar for once. Should I be worried?  ;)

Pandy, wtf mate?

Why would you role reveal when we don't actually know if your role is good or bad? Why would you mention your role and then not bother to give us the details? In addition to painting a great white target on your back (if you are a good guy), you've also put the Healer in the position of protecting you at night if your role is good, and being protected from any other sort of kills (provided they aren't healer immune) if your role is bad.

Demandred.  Sirayn.  The knife went in slowly.

You've come a long way, baby!

Must you always bring that up?  >:(

Oh and by the way FDM I'm insulted!  ;D

But you seriously did seem a little obsessed about finding out who I am.

Any certain reason for that?

I mean I have been around for a little while, and have been especially active recently.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm sort of an admin around here, and I kind of pride myself with being aware of the vast majority of members on this site (usergroup addings are a biotch!) The fact that you have slipped under my radar all this time is a blow to the ol' ego. ;) Nice to meet you, though!

Oh, stop rolefishing, Far. No more speculation about my role until tomorrow. I was just dealing with the question of why I wanted somebody to say what they did.

Posted

Yes, FDM, I must :P

Btw, I happen to agree with pandy on this one.  He obviously had a role (though I have no idea why he made it so obvious without a cover); putting a name to it didn't tell the mafia anything they shouldn't have already figured out.  Role details, on the other hand . . . No, now's not the time for that.

Posted

I'm not role fishing, I'm seriously wondering why on earth you would reveal your role now, when I was the only one who bothered to voice their notice of your weird thing with wombat, and I wasn't even really concerned about it.

Posted

Ok, I'll start by saying I don't trust any of you. Remotely. That goes without saying.

I can understand the "jolly banter" etc. from the older members of the group reminiscing about the good old days etc., but its ideal cover for faint gambits. Pandy's reveal makes me slightly uneasy - I'm trying to think why he would reveal that early, and am clearly missing something. Kivam's claiming that everybody saw Pandy role before he stated means he's either making it up or is a lot sharper than me for one (probably the case, but not necessarily).

Go on Kivam, what prompted you to think Pandy had a role?

Posted
You come back with a OMGUS vote to defend Far when her post WAS rather suspicious and odd.  You don't trust anyone but you believe Far when she said that post was merely a spammy joke toying with an old buddy post.  Right.

Actually, I think you didn’t read my reason. I already said I don’t believe any of them, but it’s pretty bad to say that you want someone dead until they can be findered… But logically, if they are dead, they can’t be findered. How’s that OMGUS?  OMG U Suck would be you targeted my friend and I have no logical reason to want you dead, but I’ll vote you anyway. Not quite the case, Nae. Would have expected more from you.

Alys, here's the psycho:  http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Psychopath

I think the one DPR is referring to is the scum variant as he included a psychiatrist in the list too.  Also, the traitor seems like a variation of a symp to me.

Thanks. It didn’t search because I didn’t know the correct term?

Also, the traitor depends on who’s playing the role. Kivam after dying in a previous game stated how much he hates when people are turned from their previous alignment after having been turned. He further went on to play the game as a symp to his previous team. I have been traitor with no intentions of turning until the last minute. So totally depends.

I don't know FDM's style so I have no idea whether she would take that risk here.

Back when big game hunting (copyrighted by DPR) was a big thing, aka back when we used to play, players did it all the time specifically because if you were in a game with Kivam or DPR or Sira or the like they were the first to die EVERY time. As finder or healer, unless something else happened you just viewed these dangerous if evil but amazingly awesome if good people to get them out of the way, to make them a known quantity. THAT’s why I take her post with a grain of salt and others (NAE) should too because they KNOW this. (See Barms post that asserts the same.)

In fact I HATE it when people use "I just have this feeling" as a reason.)

*laughs at flashbacks of the DUDE* You didn’t get along well either, but he was almost always right by his gut. :D

Alys does not strike me as evil..yet. She is usually quite helpful and involved when she is innocent. When she is evil, she will manage to come up with every excuse in the book for lurking. What she isn't saying, is that she is being just as active, only via pm.

*laughs maniacally* I love being evil when I am… But I always do my best to help my team until there is nothing left to do. That’s why I never turned in the one game until the last vote was in. If you ever doubt, there’s tons of games you could peruse.  I don’t know if I have an actual tell or not. Ask DPR.  Or Kivam. :D

But yes, I did label myself as hadn't posted yet. That wasn't a mistake, I wanted to see who would catch it; I'm glad a few of you did at least.

We all did, sweetie. It wasn’t worth commenting on since it was obvious.  Same as using aboot, you smarmy Canadian.

While we're on Far though, she HAS been a bit overly adamant about figuring out who Talmanes is (I think she's mentioned him three times now?), and that makes me rather leery of her.

Same here.

If our shrink goes down, or our firefighter, then we have a serial killer running around (as I understand it, both those roles can "cure" SK roles and turn them into townies).

Actually, if we have a good serial killer, we want to keep them. If we have a bad one… Well, the gamble is always in if they know how to behave themselves or if they just want to get the kill off for points.

I'm the Evangalist. When somebody posts that specific phrase, it changes my abilities at night. I won't reveal what happens exactly, since that would give too much away to the mafia.

To be taken with a grain of salt…? A pro townie doesn’t out his role day one unless he’s in danger or invincible. So great move there. Trying to distract the healer from someone who might actually need it? Then on to not answering why you’d bother to reveal by saying you are answering a question that didn’t need to be answered like that…  Curious minds are wondering why you revealed without you giving out unnecessary info.

Uh, Rey, that he had a role was obvious. You don't ask someone to repeat something without a reason that usually targets them later. As in, if you post directly after me when I say your name, you are now the target of any night actions directed toward me.

Missed that. Sorry  ;D

This reads wrong. We want you to tell why you revealed like that. We don't want you to say anything you shouldn't.

It's ok, you probably weren't the only one. But it is why I asked him why yesterday (IRL days).

The evangelist could be a limited cult leader for all I know.  I don't think a role named like that would be mafia, but we don't know if it's pro town either.  Maybe I shouldn't have agreed with Pandy.  I thought he was fishing for something and I have nothing to hide and had no problem being the guinea pig.  I didn't know it would change his night action.  That is kind of scary, but we can still control the situation.  Pandy said he would give more details on day 2.  I'm interested to see what those will be.

Wowee rolefishing much? And what do you mean, we want to keep a 'good' SK around? You're talking about the big bad psycho solo win guy who kills every night, right?

[glow=red,2,300]unvote, vote: Alys[/glow]

Really, really, no more speculation about my role until tomorrow. (If I die tonight, so be it, at least my death will gain the town some useful info.)

Big Game hunting.... ahh those were the days.

I'd get out the rifle but i honestly think we're all a little rusty.

Not sure what to make of the reveal. Still pondering.

Main purpose of this post :- 6 hours rehearsals tonight, followed by drinking, followed by 4 hours lectures tomorrow. The fact most of this is without a break annoys me. I'll try and check in, but realistically, im on 24 hr LOA.

Don't do nothing stupid while im gone. Please.

Serial killers get a night kill and are known to attempt to target mafia. Some want the kill; others want to help. Again, if they are good (Sira back in the day), they wait to land a good hit due to information. If they are bad, they can screw the pooch. Again, why I mentioned the gamble.

And no, not role fishing. Role fishing would be me asking you what does the evangelist do? What are the perks? What is your alignment? Also note my points on the evangelist yesterday (IRL)... I dont' think I need more role info at this point as it's pretty easy to speculate on.

What I am asking is WHY the hell do you reveal with NO GOOD reason. Big difference. It's like a day one Healer reveal. ->

"So and so was suspicious."

"I am the healer. That's why I was suspicious."

"Uhh... Why did you say that?"

No logical reason= big problem with the reveal.

Now I have to go ask someone to pee in a cup. :s ....

What a circus.  All we need is Mynd here so he can stir the snakes and distract the grass.  Alys.. I may have FOS Far for that.. and you after for your defence of it.. but I did not vote... I merely took notes over the happening.

Pandy I also caught on to you asking someone to say that and that it meant something with your role.  Far likes to put that in her games.  So yes, the reveal was a bit unneccessary.

Those of you saying "I'm checking in and will respond later", need to.  There is nothing I can't stand more in games.  Don't be so intimidated by Far, Barm, Kivam, and Alys that you just sit there and lurk.  Put your big boy/girl panties on and come run with the big dogs.  I guarentee you will learn something in this game if you actually bother to play it.  All of them.. except Barm... are good people!  (outside of the game)  And even though they have been playing longer that doesn't mean you couldn't best them if you tried.  If I can do it anyone can.  I bested DPR and several others in Far's SG game one year with a solo win role.
