just wondering, since pretty much every other major character has. i remember in LOC when she was in cairhien with gawyn them meeting at an inn. does this mean they have consummated their relationship?

I doubt it.  If I remember correctly, they were just canoodling in the common room, not GETTING a room.

Yes its kind of creepy..but on the other hand she did like it..alot :) She did consider joining his dreams more after that ;D

No, i dont think she did the goodie with Gawyn (how can you call it the nasty??) not with her body anyway, her real body.

I doubt it.  She was raised to believe in those good ol' Two Rivers values and I'm pretty sure those values dictate that a girl should wait until she is married.  After all Nyneave and Perrin both waited and Rand thought he had to marry Avi after they did it.  So in general I think Two Rivers folks just don't believe in pre-marital sex.  The one exception is Mat, but I don't think values were ever really his thing.

they did have several encounters in the dream world. one would argue that sense she is a dream walker and can control herself and her environment there that any encounter she may have with gawyn in his dream is as real as any encounter in the waking world. if you can get injured and die you can do other things as well.

I don't think so, she may have been a Dream Walker, but she wasn't in Tel'aran'rhiod, she was in the place between, then in Gawyn's dreams, so it probably wouldn't have been real like in the world of dreams itself.

I don't think so either.

For one Egwene still seemed have some of the scruples which Rand and his three have now all thrown away; and for another, they where only in that room for an hour or so each day, which was largely talking according to some of her comments.

I agree but have a second question. Since injuries in the Dream World are injuries in the Real World, could Egwene be considered to have lost her virginity. ;) :'( ::)

I know this is a nit picky thing, but for the record Perrin never threw away his scruples, he and Faile didn't do it until after they got married.  Mat really didn't throw away his scruples either because I suspect that he never really had them (lol).

Ironically Berelain went after both Rand and Perrin but never went after Mat where she almost certainly would have hit pay dirt.

The Two Rivers do believe in pre-marital sex. When Rand insists that he marry Aviendha, she educates a little about Two Rivers customs. According to Egwene, if you were betrothed to the guy all you had to do was ask your mother's permission to do it. Aviendha says that Egwene told that she was planning to ask her mother's permission to do it with Rand.

To be nit picky in turn, I wasn't talking about Perrin and Matt, I was refering to Rand and his three: Elayne, Aviendha, and Min.  Perrin keeping his scrupels just further supports the case.  Also, you may recall how embarssed Egwene was when she was just sitting on Gawyn's lap, let alone kissing him...

Actually you are wrong when telling Aviendha of Two Rivers "Customs" Rand thinks to himself that anyone asking permission for what he and Aviendha had done would have been whipped or some such. Pre-marital sex in Emonds Fields was not unheard of but it was definately not a commen thing or one you asked permission of your parents for.

What Aviendha told Rand -

<quote>

"Egwene said she thought of asking her mother's permission for you, but before she mentioned it her mother told she had to wait another year"

</quote>

<quote>

"If she wants him, and is old enough to marry, why should she need permission?"

</quote>

There's a whole lot more but from what I can make from it is that once a couple gets engaged they've got to wait a year before getting married. During that year, if the girl wants to do it, she's got to ask her mother's and the Wisdom's permission. The men know nothing of this custom.

The reason Bar Dowtry and Kimry were punished after being caught was because Kimry failed to ask permission.

I believe she saw Matt and didn't consider him since he was too much like herself.

That was in Shadow Rising, I believe.  Mat hears her muttering something like that as she passes through the halls of the Stone.
