Corki Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 This was brought up on the temporary DM boards, and I thought I would resurrect the discussion. Certain parts of fantasy have words to describe their fans. The one that springs to my mind is Star Trek and Trekkies. But what are fans of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series called? I am going to use the two popular names used from the temp. board discussion, which was WoTers and Jordanites. So, the question is, are we WoTers (which I believe we are) or Jordanites? Or something else? I will be setting a poll up with three options. 1. WoTers 2. Jordanites 3. Other (please specify when you post) And of course, being part of DM, we are DMers! No debate is needed for that!
Alys Kinch Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 gotta be woters. that is what jordan refered to us as, right?
Moderator JenniferL Posted March 21, 2006 Moderator Posted March 21, 2006 Jordanite is easier to say, but I believe WoTer is more descriptive. More of us are fans of WoT than of Jordan. I mean, we've all read WoT, but how many have read his Conan or Fallon series?
Guest Egwene Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I know it's in use elsewhere, but I think DM wotmaniacs describes us to a T.
Marak Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Jordanites. I based this, of course, on absolutely nothing.
Taei Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 How about RandFans? :) Actually, I'd say Wheelers is more like it, though, and easier to say.
Adanza Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 i think someone came up with wheelies over on the temp boards, and i like that one a lot, but there's still something about WoTers that i like too...
Toman Zahere Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 We may love RJ as an author but we love his creation more. It's got to be WoTers.
woolhead Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 haha, definitely WoTist :D But between the two options given I would say it has to be WoTers. I don't know about you guys, but I personally have never read any of Jordan's other work...although his upcoming series(Infinity of Heaven?) does look interesting and I'll probably check it out.
the dude Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 i say wotophiles. that or geeks. before anyone gets in a huff, now, i fully recognize that i'm here too, and accuse no one of anything for which i am not also guilty.
Taei Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I've been a geek forever, even before I found out about WoT. ;) No offense taken.
BenTGaidin Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I'm going to vote for "Unitarian Reform WoTian(s) - Third Congregation" because I think it's fun. *grins* Ben
fader6818 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I'm for "just about anything except Jordanites" I mean, seriously, have any of you actually read Conan or Fallon? i HAVE, and if he had never written tWoT, I wouldn not give him the time of day as an author. I am definitly a WoT fan, not a fan of RJ (though I do like the fella!). I vote for WoTever. :-)
Niamh Sedai Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 We are definate WoTers!! Plus Jordanites makes us sound like some kind of rock or something. o_O Though I do like WoTist too :D

Siswaiaman Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 No we can't be WoTers! The Thoryland ppl are already that! I like wheelers, but DMers is taken for granted.
Alys Kinch Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 *hemhem* all wheel of time fans are woters. being a dm'er woter makes us the most special group or woters.
Corki Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 I am bumping this thread up so that it isn't lost for eternity...
