Gray Ajah Midsummer Event: The Famous Sleuths

For our fifth and final person of interest: we come full circle to another novelist-turned-detective. This person has been the author of countless bestsellers, including but not limited to the Derrick Storm series. They live in New York City with their daughter and their mother, and are prone to come up with strange, wild, and completely ludicrous theories. They pair up with a homicide detective to use as a sort of muse, and often push them to continue investigating cases on the grounds of "that's not how I'd write it." While their motives are certainly not pure at the outset, mostly using the liaison as a chance to live vicariously and flaunt their many connections to the social elite, they do eventually begin solving cases for the purpose of finding justice and staying attached to their partner.

1) Who is this person of interest?

2) What is the name of the character this person bases on their partner?

3) Name either the two other detectives this person works with besides his partner; or the names of the family members with whom this person lives.

4) Name two of your favorite crazy theories this person has concocted while on a case.*†

* This has no bearing on your scores; this is simply a chance to share.

† Feel free to use Google for this question if you want.

And for a clue to the fifth and final individual, we have this quote:

"What about the guy in 8B? Quiet guy. You see him every day, only you never notice him. Well, he knows Sara. She's young, beautiful, the kind girl a guy like him would never have a chance with; we all know girls like that, don't we? Well, at first it's just a game. Figure out her schedule; when does she do her laundry? When is she alone? Until it becomes something more. Something that he can't control. Well, he uses the stairs, obviously, to avoid the elevator's cameras. And then he just waits, concealed in the shadows. When she comes into that laundry room, he pounces. And he looked into her vacant, lifeless eyes. He wanted to tell her he never meant to kill her. All he ever wanted was to be noticed. That's when he felt the heat of that dryer on his skin. So he picks up her limp body in his arms, gently places it inside. He almost smiled at his good fortune when he found the quarter in his pocket, slipping it into slot, buying the time to do what he does best: disappear.

Just saying, better story. Coffee?"

Alright folks, so incredibly sorry about that wait! The jury all broke for lunch, and didn't resume until midnight this morning. Dads, one and all. But they're not what we're here for, are we? We're here for the answers!

Congratulations, Cross. I'm kicking myself about the method of Trudy Monk's death. I remembered something about a parking garage, but thought she was merely shot in one.

Fun game, James T. Thanks for hosting.
