I meant the "State of Mafia" threads. I understand them in principle. But, I think they do the opposite of their intended purpose.

I mean I prolly should not say anything here......BUT

I have been working on keeping my post counts down.  Its been a work in progress but it is working some.

Id rather read 20,000 posts like mine (small ones with not a lot of word) then 10 large WoT posts.  Maybe that's just me.

Mods could just put in their sign ups- LOW VOLUME game and then players can decide for themselves.

Im a Meta player as well and Im NOT going to change that.

I will continue to work on lowering my post counts cause I want people to be able to play.

If anyone has ideas related to me personally as to how I can help besides stop playing and be somebody im not, im all ears.

I think there is a far bigger problem than the in-game volume. The heavy meta read nature of the forum.

I think this is basically always a "thing" when you have a relatively static player-base that isn't particularly large.

People use meta reads because they work for some people and are an effective tool; you can't really do anything about that, I think.

I dunno, we used to have the same 15-20 people playing here all the time and we still didn't delve too much into meta reading.  I think that is more of the trend mafia has seemed to take over the past handful of years.

Well yeah, the game has definitely changed.

But how do you say "you can't use meta"?

Like, I'm in a game with Tina and I know her alignment because I know her, do I have to pretend to not have that read because it's not supported by something other than that?

Yes, if you are town and I´m mafia then I think you have to stay quiet about it. *nods*

I want to make sure I'm clear. I'm not saying my way is the right way or anything like that. I'm simply saying that if I'm going to be able to successfully play a game (as in the whole game) posting levels have to be something I can manage to read. I have quite a bit of time to read each day. But games that hit 100 pages in a game day are just not doable for me, and I'd sub out because I can't keep up. It's not a matter of choice.

You guys do what you want. I don't want my problem to be the cause of rules being set. All I'm asking for is understanding.

Yes, it´s the same for me. The more people post the less I will. That´s how I work. Right now I´m only signing up for small games.

And yet, I'm still not getting lynched.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

If this was a concern and I was making a mafia forum I might have it so people could rate a post if it was important, and if say 3+ people rate it important it becomes highlighted. Then when more casual players come along, they can read these posts and have a rough idea of what's going on. In addition to readability it adds another level of play to mafia, where players can communicate more easily.

Not every post a person makes is going to be important. For competitive players, while reading everything is good, you can usually get the gist from some key posts, and for casual players you can trust your team to highlight what you should read.

At any rate I think posts/game day limits are fine. No real complaint from me, nor can I think of a better system without overhauling the forum mechanics.

Perhaps create a subforum for every game of all the posts that are near or in excess of the limit though. Add a counter to the 'trash' forum of 30 minutes or an hour between posts. It discourages posting over the limit but doesn't stop you from doing so.

Eventually you will need rank players with contribution level a key indicator of player value.
