Rhea wakes to find herself in the Blue Cat again, unsure how she arrived, but feeling rather refreshed. A gateway appears and she steps through to a waiting crowd gathered to watch the racers on the next leg of the Biathlon.

 

"Well, I suppose you would all like an update?"

 

A handsome looking warder steps up and whispers in her ear.

 

"Here are the standings! Theo, Mashi and Time continue to dominate. Xthrax was late and therefor is running an penalty lap. Blank got lost along the way and did not find the targets in time and is running that penalty lap with Xthrax." 

 

The group moved south again, back toward the Blue Cat Inn. Buildings seemed more familiar, and the group moved more quickly than they had previously. Food carts dotted the streets and the smells of the food filled the air. As they moved more quickly to their destination, the smell of fish began to permeate the air. The Blue Cat could be seen close to the contestants, curled in its stone slumber, but the group quickly moved past it. Their destination was the largest fish market in Tar Valon, the Great Fish Market. As they neared the building, the contestants were amazed by the brilliantly colorful beauty of the place. The Great Fish Market, another Ogier built treasure, was shaped to look like a school of brilliantly colored fish. Excited to have reached their destination, the group paused to catch their breath and await their next instructions. 

 

They raced inside to find their targets hidden among the fish.

2. A frog is at the bottom of a 30 meter well. Each day he summons enough energy for one 3 meter leap up the well. Exhausted, he then hangs there for the rest of the day. At night, while he is asleep, he slips 2 meters backwards. How many days does it take him to escape from the well? Note: Assume after the first leap that his hind legs are exactly three meters up the well. His hind legs must clear the well for him to escape.

Congratulations on your work so far! You are all doing great! Here are the answers to the Round 3 targets.

 

1. A clan chief will use their chair when being acclaimed as chief, to accept the submission of an enemy with honor, and to pass judgement.

Here are the standings! Theodora is starting to move ahead, followed closely by Mashi and Pralaya. Chaelca, Time and Xthrax are still keeping up right behind them. RTE is the next one in the group, with Blank and Luci finishing the group, as all three had to run a penalty lap. 

 

Moving South and then West, the group continued on through Tar Valon. The passed through most of the North section of the Island and skirted around the White Tower grounds before turning West to head across another bridge, over the Alindrelle Erinin. This time they were headed to the most North Western village Jualdhe. Leaving the sight of the shining walls, the group crossed the long graceful lacework of the Ogier bridge. The water sparkled in the sunlight beneath the contestants as they ran ever on. As the contestants approached the village, they could hear the cheering of the people. Motivated to push, the group ran faster, toward the Jualdhe checkpoint.

2. You can paddle your canoe seven miles per hour through any placid lake. The stream flows at three miles per hour. The moment you start to paddle up stream a fisherman looses one of his bobbers in the water fourteen miles up stream of you.

The answers to Round 4 targets were:

1. The Sea Folk won't cross the Sea of Aryth because they believe the islands of the dead are on the other side.

2. Because the cork will travel at the same speed as you will, it will take 2 hours for you to travel 14 miles, going 7 miles an hour.

Currently, Theodora is still in the lead with Pralaya following closely behind her. Mashi and Xthrax are closely behind them, and Chaelca is right behind them. Time is running next, then RTE, then Blank, and finally Luciena. All four were distracted by a souvenir shop in Jualdhe and are running a penalty lap.

 

*Note: a penalty lap does not mean you do not get to participate in the next round. It just adds an additional minute to your time.

 

The next location of Targets is in Darein!

Different teams were running ahead, and others were trying to catch up now. Villagers were cheering them on as they left Jualdhe and moved into the open plain. The groups of contestants tried to take advantage of the open easy terrain now, as they ran quickly toward their next target in Darein. The land quickly changed though, from the flat plains full of sunshine, to the tree crowded and darkened forests. Some of the group continued to run quickly, while other teams started to move a little slower, warily looking around them. The leading team, and then the other groups, quickly pulled up in fear as they were confronted with evil, twisted animal faces of Trollocs. Pig snouts, boar tusks, a wolf muzzle and even a eagles beak were all horribly snarling as the group crowded together to try to figure out how to get past, and back onto the trail to Darein.

After fighting through the Trollocs, the groups moved at an even quicker pace. Pushed by fear and adrenaline, the sight of Darein couldn't come fast enough for most of the contestants. The trees slowly gave way once again to the flat grassland of the plain, and the village of Darein in the distance. Slowly farms and houses started to appear, and only then were the contests able to breathe a little easier. The group once again could hear the villagers cheering, and the much needed motivation pulled them eagerly forward to find the next checkpoint.

Theodora is still in the lead, with Pralaya following closely. Chaelca, Mashi, and Xthrax are running together behind them, while Time, RTE, Blank, and Luci follow. They are running penalty laps once again, because they seem to have strayed behind and were slightly lost in the woods. 

 

The race moved west again, through the village of Darein. Villagers and shop keepers here were taking advantage of the race also, selling jewelry and food and clothing to the mass of spectators watching the race. Cheering crowds sent the contestants excitedly on their way, out of the village and up the beautiful Ogier built middle bridge back toward Tar Valon. The groups were getting tired. Distance was starting to build between each team, and they were all getting tired. The shining walls of Tar Valon pushed them on, though, and the groups eagerly raced to their next destination. Quickly moving into the city, the contestants searched for the building that looked like horses running through the surf. Some thought it looked more like surf turning into horses, but regardless, the beautiful Ogier built Kandori Merchants Guild Hall was a marvel, even in a city such as Tar Valon.

The group moves from the Kandori Merchant's Guild at a fast pace. Some contestants seem determined to catch up to the leaders, while some seem to be more interested in the souvenirs that shops are selling. The contestants move through Tar Valon, and toward the next checkpoint at the Upriver Run Inn.
