Round 7 is over! The can racers put down their weapons and take a break.

But not for long!

Here are the answers for round 7...

1. When they are first given their sword.

2. The maid. She claimed she was getting the mail that day. There was no mail on Sunday!

3. http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/87093-the-whitebrown-winter-olympic-carnival-olympic-trivia-double-decathlon-round-1/?p=3136989

Racers ready?

Theodora is still in the lead and dominating the pack! Pralaya is sticking to her heals though and Xthrax is right on their tails in 3rd. Chaelca and Mashi are neck in neck, toying for 4th place. Luci seems to have dropped off somewhere around the Great Fish Market and is still running penalty laps. We lost Time around Jualde and Blank has been missing since the North Harbor. RTE is still in the running however, and coming around with a penalty lap but still in this race!

The group moved through the island, passing carts of merchants and groups of onlookers. The streets were like rays of the sun, coming from the White Tower. People were lining the streets to cheer the racers onward. The White Tower seemed to reach to the very sky, especially as the group made their way to the closer to the grounds. Upon reaching the gates to the White Tower, guards stood to the side for the racers to allow them entry. Making their way through the grounds, the group could see a number of Warders practicing in the distance. Determined to find their Targets, some of the group almost ran past without noticing the Warder’s calling a challenge to the contestants. It seemed they wanted to test the skills of the Wardlings against that of the contests racing. Would this take time away from the race, or will the contestants dominate on the practice ground?

Bonus question...

What famous phrase is represented by this picture?

picture-logic-puzzle_zps1c48c3a4.gif

Moving past the group of Warders and trainees with their wooden swords, the group finally approached the building that housed the weaponry. with their targets posted around the yard. Some of the contestants were more bruised and beat up than they would have preferred, but some had managed to pull a little farther into the lead. Ready for the next challenge, they took aim at the targets.

1. How long has it been the custom to send the DaughterHeir to train with the Aes Sedai at the Tower, while her brother, the First Prince of the Sword trains with the Warders?

2. A man was going to buy a $5000 car, but he didn't pay a penny for the car, how is this possible?

3. Find this image! *HINT* You will not find this image in Tar Valon. Think logically!

Round 8 is over!

Here are your answers...

1. 3000 years

2. He paid $5000 for the car.

3. http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/85635-whites/?p=3139549

Bonus: Shop Till You Drop!

Nice job everyone!

Theodora is still in the lead but lost a bit of ground this round. Pralaya is catching up quickly in second place. Xthrax is almost neck and neck in 3rd with Mashi and Chael fighting for 4th and 5th place. RTE is gaining on the pack though and is the man to watch! Luci, Time, and blank are still wandering. We have warders out looking for them.

Racers ready?

From the White Tower and its training grounds, the group moved East. The race took the contestants through the island and across the Osendrelle Erinin once again. Moving East the group was spreading out more and more. Some of the contestants were more winded than the others. The beauty of the lacework bridge and the water beneath was barely noticed as they ran toward the village of Daghain, and their next targets.

1. The Great Blackwood is also known as what?

2. There are 20 people in an empty, square room. Each person has full sight of the entire room and everyone in it. If you are not allowed to move in any way (other than your eyes). Where can you place an apple so that all but one person can see it?

Round 9 is finished! Here are you answers to the Dagain targets.

1. The forest of shadows.

2. Place the apple on one persons head.

3. http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/86765-the-whitebrown-winter-olympic-carnival-the-lodge/?p=3140923

You are all doing a great job!

Theodora is still in the lead, with Pralaya and Xthrax nearly neck and neck behind her. Mashi then Chaelca follow closely behind. RTE, TIme, Blank, and Luci were distracted by people in the village that they know, and were off having Tea. Hopefully they will catch up soon. There are still bonuses to come, so be prepared!

Racers, off to Osenrein!

The group of racers moves south and out of the village into the surrounding woods. Contestants are now separate by minutes now. The darkness of the forest feels as if it is closing in, surround the racers, cutting them off from one another. Hearts pounding, fear starts to kick in, and each contestant is in high alert, remembering the trollocs of the forest they encountered previously. Still moving quickly but trying to watch everywhere at once, suddenly the thunk of a knife in a tree trunk next to a contestants head brings everyone to a stop. In the next few moments no one can spot the terror that is hunting them in the woods. The darkness is working against them, but before another knife strikes a contestant, the group sees the gray man.

Bonus Question:

The following verse spells out a word, letter by letter. "My first" refers to the word's first letter, and so on. What's the word that this verse describes?

My first is in fish but not in snail
My second in rabbit but not in tail
My third in up but not down
My fourth in tiara not in crown
My fifth in tree you plainly see
My whole a food for you and me

Once the group dispatched the gray man, they take a few moments to catch their breath. Fear soon propels them forward, and shortly the village of Onsenrein is appearing in the distance. The trees open up and each racer can hear the cheers of the villagers. Happy to still be alive and in the race, they all continue on to the next targets.

1. A silver medallion in form of balance scales is the seal of what?

2. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

Rhea and Aida step up to the podium in front of the contestants.

Round 10 is finished! *the crowd cheers*

Your Osenrein targets were:

1. The silver medallion in the form of balance scales is the seal of the Mayor's Office.

2. You can name three days without using a day of the week by naming today, tomorrow, and yesterday!

3. I posted the picture here: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/86745-brown-ajah-book-challenge-2014-discussion-and-questions/?p=3138081

Many of you linked Rhea's post here http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/85731-browns/?p=3140331 Both will count for the point.

The bonus Question was FRUIT!

Theodora is still in the lead, but Pralaya is catching up, with Xthrax right behind him, and Chaelca coming quickly behind them. Its a close race between these four, and anyone can win at this point! Mashi, RTE, Time, Blank, and Luci were all injured during the battle with the Gray Man, and the Yellow sisters are seeing to them quickly before the next leg of the race.

On to the White Tower Ogier Grove!

The group moves West from Osenrein now. Villagers are cheering them on. The racers are gaining notoriety among the fans who are sporting small pennants with contest names on them and calling their names. Excited by the cheering and the crowd, the group quickly arrives at the gleaming white lacework of the Southwest bridge onto the island. Each racer moves over the gleaming water, still amazed at the beauty of the shining walls of Tar Valon. Just as the group moves past the bridge and onto the island, the Ogier Grove appears at the South side of the road. Eager to get to the targets the racers race into the peace and tranquility of the Grove.

Ogier Grove Targets:

1. Name at least three types of tree that can be found in Andor.

2. There are four girls, and four apples in a basket. Every girl takes an apple, Yet one apple remains in the basket. How is this possible?

3. Find this picture:

fCfpp16.jpg

Optional Fourth Target! Please note - if you hit the target you get -4 minutes, if you miss the target though, +4 minutes.

4. Thea and Mashi were working on the computer, along with their friends RTE and Chaelca. Suddenly I heard a crash and then lots of shouts. I rushed in to find out what was going on, finding the computer monitor on the ground, surrounded with broken glass! Mashi and RTE spoke almost at the same time.

Mashi saying, "It wasn't me!"

RTE saying, "It was Chaelca!"

Thea yelled, "No, it was RTE!"

With a pretty straight face, Chaelca said, "RTE's a liar".

Only one of them was telling the truth, so who knocked over the monitor?

Good luck!

Aida walks up to the group of contestants and call their attention.

Great work! Here are your answers to the Ogier Garden targets!

1. The types of tree's accepted were oak, pine, blackwood, sourgum, leather leaf, and fir.

2. This was possible because the last girl took the basket, with the last apple still in the basket.

3. You will find the picture here - http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/87221-the-whitebrown-winter-olympic-carnival-olympic-trivia-double-decathlon-round-2/?p=3143506

Bonus Question:

Mashi was the culprit!

Current standings:

Thea still has the lead, and Xthrax is now right behind her, with Pralaya following in third. The peacefulness of the Ogier Garden and the proximity to the White Tower was too much for some of the contestants, and the rest of them fell asleep relaxing under the trees. We have sent some novices to fetch them.

On to South Harbor!

The contestants leave the Ogier Grove by different routes. Some choose to stay in the comfort and peace of the Grove and look for the most direct path to a road South out of the Grove. Some choose to quickly leave the Grove to wind through the streets of Tar Valon. Contestants move quickly now, some running far ahead of others, but everyone is pushing to catch up or keep the lead. South through Tar Valon they move, until the sounds of the harbor, and the smells of the water and the ships, tell the contestants that they have reached their next set of targets.

South Harbor Targets.

1. What is the arch, that leads into the city, in South Harbor made from?

2. Romeo and Juliet are found dead on the floor in a bedroom? When they were discovered, there were pieces of glass and some water on the floor. The only furniture in the room is a shelf and a bed. The house is in a remote location, away from everything except for the nearby railway track. What caused the death of Romeo and Juliet?

3. Find this image:

Good luck contestants, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Time is up for Round 12!

Your answers to this rounds Targets were:

1. The South Harbor arch is made of Redstone.

2. Romeo and Juliet were fish - the train nearby rumbled the fish tank off of the book shelf and it broke, thus killing Romeo and Juliet.

3. You can find the picture here! http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/86828-the-whitebrown-winter-olympic-carnival-siggy-contest/?p=3129915

Current standings are Theodora and Xthrax are tied for the lead, with Chaelca following close behind. Pralaya, Mashi, RTE, Time, Blank and Luci were all distracted by the gawkers on the waterfront. They fell into the harbor and we had to send some of the dock workers in to get them.

On to Tamore Alkohima's Dress Shop!

The group moves north from the harbor and back into the village of Tar Valon. The contestants are excited for the next stop, because it is located at one of the most famous dress shops on the entire island. Tamore Alkohima’s dress shop. Eager to see the group of shops that look like a large group of curves, the group moves quickly through village streets. Fans and villagers cheer from the streets while the group runs to the next set of targets. Some contestants seem just as eager to try the silks and fabrics in the shop, as they are about the race.

Tamore Alkohima's Dress Shop Targets:

1. Name three inns that can be found in Tear.

2.

3. Find this picture:

Good luck all!

Joins Rhea in cheering on the contestants!

You guys are doing great - and you really are so close to the end!

The answers to your last targets were:

1. The three inns that can be found in Tear are the White Crescent, The Golden Cup, and the Star.

2. There were 6 F's in that sentence. The word OF is pronounced with a "v" sound, so the brain will sometimes forget to count this as the letter "f".

3. The picture was to be found in the White Ajah here - http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/86751-2014-white-ajah-get-fit-challenge/?p=3124202

In an amazing burst of energy, Xthrax sprinted past Thea as she was looking at some fabrics at the dress shop and he is now in the lead. Thea trails him closely, with Chaelca not far behind them. The other contestants were distracted by all the pretty fabrics, and some even chose to have some dresses made, and we hope they will be catching up soon!

On to Ilain Dormaile's Banking House!

From the dress shop, the group moves through the southern part of the island. The streets are still lined with shopkeepers trying to sell extra cakes and jewelry to the assorted groups of fans and onlookers. Contestants can hear the villagers and townspeople cheering for them and calling their names. Some of the Racers stop to shake hands and chat with friends and acquaintances. Pleased with the race and eager to keep moving, the group finally arrives at Ilaine Dormaile’s Banking House. The short Cairhienin woman is pleased to have her business in the race, and is standing outside greeting racers as they arrive to shoot at this rounds targets.

Your Targets:
1. Why do Warders (and Borderlanders) use oil stoves to prepare meals in the Blight?

2. Paul's height is six feet, he's an assistant at a butcher's shop, and wears size 9 shoes. What does he weigh?

Great work everyone! You are almost there! We have one round tonight, and there will be a final round tomorrow to decide the winner!

The answers for Ilain Dormaile's Banking House targets were:

1. It is dangerous to burn wood in the blight.

2. Paul weighs meat - since he works at a butcher shop

3. This was located in the decathalon round two thread - I will link this in a second.

Xthrax is still in the lead, and Theodora trails him closely. These are the two to watch, as I suspect a battle to the end for the winning title! Chaelca is in third place still, with Pralaya behind her. Some of the other contestants were held up dealing with banking issues and should hopefully be along shortly.

On to Alindaer!

The contests each move west, further from the gleaming white tower of Tar Valon. Some of the contestants are sad to be leaving the island, but others are eager to be going again, as they know they are close to the end of the race. They move past the shining walls of the island and over the white lacework of the bridge. The water of the Alindrelle Erinin shines below the bridge as the contestants quickly move over it and beyond to the village of Alindaer and their targets there.

Alindaer Targets:

1. How many different translations of the Prophesies are locked in the Chest in the Library of Tear?

2. What can travel around the world while staying in a corner?

3. Find this picture!

Good luck - tomorrow will be the final round = DRAGONMOUNT!

Welcome to the Final Round!

You have all done a smashingly good job, and you are almost there!

Your answers to the Alindaer targets are:

1. There are 9 different translations.

2. A Stamp.

3. http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/86986-the-whitebrown-winter-olympic-carnival-who-killed-the-olympic-torch-bearer-clue-game/?p=3147592

Xthrax is still in the lead, with Thea still right on his tail. Chaelca follows them, with Pralaya close behind her. Some of the contestants got lost making their way out of Tar Valon, and we have sent some Warders to look for them.

On to Dragonmount!

The group moves through the village of Alindaer and West. They leave the cheers of the crowd at the village behind them as they make their way into the trees that separate the village from Dragonmount. The finish line. They are so close they can all smell victory nearly in the their grasp. Moving quickly, they run through the forest. Breathing hard from exertion, it takes them all a few minutes to smell the sulphur burning in the air. There were footprints etched onto some of the nearby rocks. The contestants felt their hearts start pounding as they look around in both shock and fear. Shock to realize that they may not be as close to finishing as they had originally thought, and fear at the realization of what they faced: Darkhounds.

Bonus Target!

Just like the last bonus: Attempt at your own risk.  -4 min. if you are correct, and + 4 if you are wrong!

Rhea keeps a special purse in her pouch with fifty coins, totaling exactly $1.00. Unfortunately, while paying for her kaf, she dropped one of the coins. What is the probability that it was a penny?

After a hard battle fought, the Darkhounds were defeated. The contestants, relatively unscathed, now move quickly. They want to be out of the forests. Soon they are moving past the trees, and all they can see in  the distance is the monstrous mountain, the peak rising into the sky. The finish line is so close. Dragonmount ahead, the contestants move quickly to their final targets.

Final Targets!

1. What two legends of the Light were found in the Blight, only to be lost forever?

2. What has roots as nobody sees. Is taller than trees. Up, up it goes. And yet never grows?

3. Find this picture!
