Mish (Cop) viewed Despo (town)

RTE (Even night doc) protected Mish

N3: Csarmi (Inquisitor) killed Dice

NotBob (JOAT) used 1x vig on Darthe

Mish (Cop) viewed RTE (town)

Dice (Odd night doc) protected Mish

N4: BG (Inquisitor team) attempted to recruit Mish (failed)

Tina (JOAT) used 1x block on Csarmi

Mish (Cop) viewed BG (not town)

RTE (Even night doc) self-protected

I have to say that this game was well balanced.  I think that if I did anything differently about it I would perhaps have made the JOAT unrecruitable as well.

Posted

Never mind.

And just FYI, this post was originally supposed to be modkilling Yates for inactivity, but when Kaylee went to redo the vote count we realized that would have been an auto-win for the scum team.  We also realized that if they chose, the Inquisitors could have forced a random at that point, but we felt it was less unfair to leave it as it was and see what happened.  Thankfully, Yates came back.

Yea I got the original mail as I was a subscriber. Assumed only inquisitors were subscribed so guessed it woldn't cause any problems. We already knew Yates was vanilla anyway.

The QT has over 600 posts so you can't show all at once (not that I know of anyway), but you can play tricks with clever URL, like this:

Do you think RTE would be seriously pissed if we recruited him? It's not a good option, but I think it would be funny to see his reaction.

2/10

My opinion. Kill Mish, recruit Darthe. 3/9

lynch RTE. NK whoever you please. 3/7.

Lynch Despo. Win.

<-- that guy knows it!

Why were yall allowed to kill and recruit in the same night?

And I think the game was well designed and well balanced, the one thing I would have done differently is not let any of the Inquisitor recruits submit NA's, just the Inquisitor. Kinda defeats the point of having  the JOAT RB function in there.

Cause we failed the recruit on N4. We were supposed to get a single extra chance on recruiting if we failed one.

Well that JoAT RB function was well-used. Actually, I was stupid enough to send in the NA's all game (without even thinking about it), except for that night cause then it was obviously BG who was supposed to.

I think I might have given the JoAT the std 4th action (cop view).

I do believe it was balanced by the way.

Yea only the inquisitor being able to send an action in (and have one of the recruits be a backup for that) could have worked too.

Posted

Nope. No backup. Imo, recruiting factions should share this concept: cut off the head, and the rest of the snake dies. Or rather, a somewhat less extreme version of that. I think if a CL is killed, there should be no more cult recruits. If an Inquisitor goes down, then no more NK or recruit. Recruiting factions are by nature very powerful, so if you're not going to restrict their recruiting ability (like making it odd-night only or something like that), then there DEF shouldn't be a backup recruiter. This is why in cult games or any game where you know about a recruiting element, it makes it so important to find the actual CL or whoever does the recruiting, instead of just looking for normal scum. Makes the game challenging but also gives town a much more likely chance at victory.

Posted

Not to mention the inherent advantage recruited players have in that their actions can't be analyzed correctly since they were once town.  It really screws up leads.  Unless the mod tells everyone there is a recruiter out there.

Posted

This recruiting faction had a very limited amount of recruits however and it had to function as cult/maffia at once. So normal stuff don't apply here.

For instance, you can't use your 'cut the head of the snake and the snake dies' principle hear as that could make the game pretty much end for the inquisitors if the recruiter is picked on for some reason, which is unbalanced (or way too swingy at the very least).

The setup was balance approved too.

I think it was just fine.

I don't know if recruiting roles can be balanced.  The whole game is based on analytical reasoning of previous actions and recruitment skews those reads.  I generally would rather not play in a recruitment game for that reason.

Posted

Yeah, I'm normally not a fan of recruiting games either.  For precisely this:

Not to mention the inherent advantage recruited players have in that their actions can't be analyzed correctly since they were once town.  It really screws up leads.  Unless the mod tells everyone there is a recruiter out there.

Kay did a great job though, so it turned out okay :).

No worries Tina; it's just a game!  <--- I realize how sucky that probably sounds from the other team, but there shouldn't be any worries anyway :).

Des, we appreciated the help :smile:

Well the whole game was screwed because of me; I was joking with Kaylee about viewing Ishy N1 and then I never did it... So I could have won us the game more or less. It's my fault and I suck. Nobody should ever give me a cop role ever again.

This is the most inaccurate post I've seen all game. You did a great job Mish. No one can say they'd have done better or worse.

Good game.

Viewing Ishy/Me on N1 would change the game a lot, that's true, but I can't see why that would be such a huge blow to our team.

That's just a player lost. Nothing more, nothing less. Cop views get WIFOM'd sooner (or worse, they don't get WIFOM'd cause you guys would assume no further recruiting was possible), and we'd still get our N2/N4 recruits and the nightly kills.

It'd have been a very different game, that's all.

Sorry about abysmal activity levels.  I'm putting in 80 hour weeks all November [until Thanksgiving, anyway] AND working Saturdays.  When I signed up for these games I had no idea it would be this hectic and my brain was too scattered.  Yeah, I knew Csarmi was scum.  Sorry I didn't do a better job convincing you bozos to hammer.  What's a VT to do??
