I know that people will be along shortly to welcome you to the Band properly, but in the meantime feel free to kick back, drink some flaming shots and tell us a bit about yourself and why you chose to join our awesome SG.

Well, I am a goof mainly - I teach little kids, so I think I am stuck in that younger mind frame. I was on this website long ago, and missed it bunches. Back then the Band wasn't on here, and looking around at all the groups, I thought this looked like a great place to join in!

 

So let's have another one of those flaming shots while we wait for more people to show up!

I'm DJ of the Cav and the Band's RAL (RedArm Leader).  That means I'm in charge of upholding the Band laws.

Sarms are Sarmation Knights  an order within the Cavalry. Noted for their fighting prowess, drinking ability and love pranks.  For further ideas watch King Arthur

Welcome to the Band hun!  I"m Brid, the UC or second in command of the Band.  Don't worry about the drink...drink em all, they will effect you equally as well.  *winks*  NOw if you want a real drink you come see me sometime. 

 

Now the reason you want to worship get on my good side is because I give out the promotion points each month.  I am easily bribed, convinced, pursuaded, what is the word I'm looking for...ah, you can proceed through the ranks rapidly if you can provide me with Tom Hiddleston.  *listens to the groans from DJ, Dice and Horn* 

 

Anyhooo!  So very glad you came back.  I'm an oldie but goodie...not as old as some *looks at Dice and Horn* and not as well seasoned as you were.  *grins*  I joined in 2006 myself.

So have u read all the WOT books?

I am so ashamed of myself - I am having a hard time accepting the end... I started re-reading the whole series, with the plan to go slowly and figure out stuff like Asmodean, and just enjoy everything. Usually I read too fast and can miss stuff. I blame my children for me going so slowly, since one is only 1, but I am just about finished with CoT. I have read everything except MoL. I am ashamed, but it's too much like telling friends goodbye... What about you DIce, have you read them all? Have you read any other work by Sanderson?

yeah ive read them all but havent read any other sanderson. Im interested in one hes got about a schizophrenic 17 yr old detective.

I have read a lot of Sanderson's stuff, you should read the Way of Kings - it's pretty great and since you like WoT, you would probably enjoy it. I haven't read the one with a 17 year old schizophrenic detective, but that sounds awesome! I will have to check it out. What else have you read?

I just finished the Final Empire! It's great, despite the fact that my favourite died yet again XD

I have read all of that except the Mortal Instruments series. Eddings was my first fantasy I read on my own. I grew up with Tolkien, in fact my dad read it (LotR and Hobbit) to my brother and I as a bedtime story. I also love Jim Butcher. He writes the Dresden files books, and has an even more fantastical series Called the Codex Alera - book one is called the Furies of Calderon. It's pretty good.

 

I like action and adventure books too. In general I read a lot.

 

So, ready for another bandy?
