RTE, I hear what you're saying, and if that was the issue, I'd happily play here more. The problem is that you can't teach sportsmanship, and if the majority doesn't agree with me on what sportsmanship is, there really isn't a lot I can do. I don't think there is a solution to my problem, which is why I limit the games I play in here on DM.

Modding, however, is a different story. I can enforce sportsmanship in my games.

I'm with you on that, but I'm going to take a different route.  I'm going to start playing more, and trying to bend people to my image of what sportsmanship is.  They'll either bend.......or break.

Either is fine with me.  ;-)

Does that mean I can count on you for my Mall Madness III?

My opinion is I won't lie about RL. And if someone says they are away from a game for RL purposes ill believe them without question until they prove they lie (Darthe ill get to you)

However this doesn't excuse scummy play and at LYLO I will not accept it.

Also more than 3 days. Ask to be replaced. Or if you are getting heat claim and bugger off. Atleast that way people have some info. I'd rather you were a little scummy for claiming early and then being away for RL than people calling for a claim and yu just vanishing

Apart from anything that anyone does can be made to look like a Mafia Tell.

Everyone was Town in DPR's game and we still all went at each other hammer and tongue.

And when people are ill - they make mistakes/get confused. I was AWFUL when I had bronchitus - but I was still Town lol.

I had something similar once, I was dosed up on so many flu meds and I blind hammered someone. It was a terribly scummy move

(And I will endeavour not to do such a thing again cos it was such bad play)

Other than that the only RL that should effect your play is alcohol

Imo, anything can and should be used in a mafia game.

I have happily claimed to be going out of town for a day or two so that I could lay low and let something blow over as mafia.  I would do it as town too, though such a thing takes the inherent risk of getting you lynched if you're not cautious.  It is a bit of a sloppy play, but if it is on thread it is game.

Likewise, people shouldn't trust it.  Does this mean that someone may be unfairly lynched or attacked when they are gone?  Yes.  But it also means that people have penalties for claiming things to that nature, and that the person was playing in such a way that they drew that attention in the first place and didn't fix it.

In essence, it is all part of how to play mafia.

I will stalk you in every game now. If you ever say you are busy in RL I will track you and make sure you do not appear on DM at all. If you are telling the truth make sure that you post in the game thread first or I will lynch you

Agreed, actually not participating in a game is bad because that is what we are all here for is to play a game with one another and have fun.

But as mafia I will do whatever it takes to win, and if the most effective tactic is for me to lie about what I'm doing with my own time then anyone who has an issue with it can sod off because that is what I will damn well do.

I don't actually like this (incase you can't tell lol)

What if someone lies and says their grandmother died so they can lurk for a while?

It's just a different level of RL causing issues to claim that instead of being busy. I dunno, where do you draw the line

IMO it shows that yu aren't handling the game so you have to take it out of the game to try save yourself

You want another Mall Madness game? I had retired that concept, but if there's a demand for it, I'll put one together.

My two cents...

I don't have a problem with people saying they will be gone a day or two or three for RL issues during a game if they have already been active and participating. I DO have a problem when people use that excuse all game long saying they are too busy to be very active in the game, swooping in and using someone else's case to justify a vote and then not returning again till the next phase. I've seen this happen in more than one game that I have played.

I think that people who's RL is so busy and they know they can't be very active throughout the game they should refrain from signing up until things settle down in RL.

If something comes up during to cause the player to be gone from the game they should talk to the Mod or ask to be replaced.

I know I do not rack up a huge number of posts in mafia games, but I try to be active at least once a day and make my own cases. If I'm not going to be around in RL I say so. Such as "I'm off to work, see ya later".
