Leigh Butler's review

Ok actually I was thinking of chapter 2 (audio) that I skipped over parts.  I thought I got through the prologue pretty well for the most...even if I went through some parts quickly.

Someone clue me in on the double bonding because I'm confused and dont have the prologue with me atm.

The Pevara/Androl scene?

Not sure how one misses that.

On that note, is there a text copy of chapter 2 released anywhere?  Listening to it on audio drove me nuts.

Be glad you didn't have to type it. Which I did. I also got a copyright notification, so I had to take it down.

Oh, and this...

What? Are you kidding me? That is the worst name EVER! Ugh! I protest! I stomp my foot in your general terrible-nomenclaturing direction! Gah!

...might well be in reference to Heffalump.

Ah, damn. Well, one prophecy fulfilled.

And apparently in a lackluster fashion?

I doubt in a lackluster fashion. My bet is in an unsurprising fashion.

Or maybe something she was hoping wouldn't happen, like Rand bowing to the Crystal Throne.

This review was great, really got me excited - really excited - for the first time. Thanks to Terez - always bringing us slowpokes up to speed quickly

Jason's review (and mind you, this may not be his fault, it was done a LONG time before the release date) seemed too sedated, and while expressed some beautiful sentiments, didn't get me wanting to read aMoL any more than I already did.

But Leigh's review here I see as pure fan-joy. I think it's obvious - at least to me - that she thoroughly enjoyed the book, issues and errors included.

It was good to see a reaction that I thought was genuinely bursting with excitement. I could almost imagine her having to hold herself back writing a non-spoiler.

I don't even want to try and guess at what she is talking about  (although no doubt I'll cave and do just that ) I just want to leave it exactly as it is - a great review that contains genuine joy that people can get excited from. The review served it's purpose excellently. Thank you Leigh.

ZOMG they are adorable. That is probably disturbing. It should be disturbing! Why isn’t this disturbing? STOP BEING SO CUTE DAMMIT YOU’RE CONFUSING ME

Baby trollocs and Myrdraal anyone?

Well, that wasn’t tense or anything. Also: PREACH IT, SISTER.

Egwene or Nynaeve berating someone probably Rand.

Hey, don’t you know you’ll go blind if you do that? Heh heh.

Hmm, could be a cryptic reference to an orgiastic scene of Ogiers treesinging some plant and pollinating the ground in front of them. Well, that or Tuon "experimenting" with her body for the first time.

Yeah, well, dude, what did you expect? That wasn’t bringing a knife to a gun fight; that was bringing a knife to a Global Thermonuclear Warfare fight. Sheesh. Also: Damn. That sucks.

Too bad for Galad, but a guy delusional enough to think that the Light is guiding him personally deserves to get caught in Blossoms of Fire.

Geez, no consent issues here. I am not sure a proportional response is always actually proportional, you guys! What the hell?

Androl / Pevara double bonding

Dammit, dammit, no, don’t agree, don’t agree to – DAMMIT. Well, there goes the neighborhood. You MORON. (Maybe?)

I think this might have something to do with Perrin making a stupid decision?  From aMoL: Day 16:

"Do not cut off your foot for fear that a snake will bite it, Perrin Aybara. Do not make a terrible mistake because you fear something that seems worse. This is all I will say on the topic.

God, they are so WEIRD. I totally don’t know how to feel about this relationship. But then, apparently neither do they, so that’s… all right? I guess?

Mat and Tuon

Holy crap, THROW IT AWAY RIGHT NOW ARE YOU CRAZY. …Wait, stupid question.

True Power or dreamspike

FINALLY. Also: whoever had that development in the betting pool is gonna make a mint, yo. It wasn’t me, but that’s probably because I didn’t bother to guess.

Body swap?

Hey, don’t you know you’ll go blind if you do that? Heh heh.

I was thinking Jumara.

Or maybe Tuon.

The Sparring match ... I'm thinking Rand and Lan.  We've seen them spar more than any other 2 in the entire series so it only makes sense that they'd have one last spar.

Knife to a gunfight quote ... Lan, Galad or Gawyn.  I'm leaning toward Lan as he seems like the most likely to charge one of the Forsaken with just his sword in some attempt of buying Morraine enough time to do something.

Oh, yeah. I was wondering when they would show up. Not that I’m particularly thrilled that they’re here, of course.

Sharans? God I hope not...

I thought maybe the red veiled aiel.

Or simply the Saenchan?

Where I come from, this would refer to a man going blind, not a woman....

I think you nailed this one!

One more guess

And here’s Choked Up Incident #3, and over a sparring session!

Rand and Tam.

Usually yes, but other than Tuon there doesn't seem anyone "innocent" enough to make a joke out of it. Olver is a bit too young I think, he's what nine?

Rand has no hand so he can't spar anymore.  Would be a good scene though if it were possible.

You can fight one handed with a sword and right after he lost his hand Rand remarked how he would have to relearn the sword.

After reading that review I feel like Egwene is definitely a goner.  She's going to die going against everything everyone is expecting from an Amyrlin (for the best) helping Rand and saving the world somehow and that's going to be one of those big tear jerker moments.  There's a reason the person in the series who cares the most for Rand (his three girls clearly care just as much or more, but Egwene grewup with him which adds a deeper layer imo) is setup as the modern day counterbalance to him.  I also feel, given the level of crying, that Min dies as well.

I don't think RJ would kill off either, but it would be sort of fitting if it were those two considering Melaine's already promised to name her unborn twins after Min and Egwene.

Well, considering Olver's boob-obsession I'm not convinced that he's too young to explore anything. However, he wouldn't obviously have heard about the blindness side effects either.

I'm musing on suitable males, but I have to admit there are not that many clear culprits around. In extension of the church, white cloaks seems likely. But Galad?????
