Despo, the bit in bold

Darthe's post was general setup talk, and in fact when he referenced cult he was talking about it NOT being in the game. I'll give you TG tho, his post def talks about the possibility of cult being in the game. I didn't notice it before because when I saw people introducing setup talk so early in the game, I just shook my head and flitted my eyes to the next post.

You see, as I mentioned, setup talk is one of the best ways for mafia to manipulate town into thinking a certain way. So I feel it best to pretty much skim past such discussions, for two reasons: 1) To help keep myself from possibly being influenced or manipulated by scum, and 2) To help keep myself from joining the setup talk. You see, it is almost impulsive to talk about setup in games where most everyone knows the subject matter, speculation is fun, and everyone wants to be the one who figures out what Gollum will be, or if Humperdink will be mafia or third party or something. It's an easy trap to fall into, which is why I try to abstain from it altogether.

It seems you did not make the same decision, and the fact that you came out with the post you did after several other players had already talked about how bad setup talk is, you spun us RIGHT back into the circle.

That, plus your OMGUS vote and what looks to me like overdefensiveness

guess what???!!!

... is easily enough for me to go on.

Vote Dice

(I hope someone else reads Cracked.com and gets my caption reference )

I'm assuming it was just a fairly poor choice of words. It's a somewhat minor point but I thought I'd mention it at the time

Because I'm tired of reading posts about setup talk would anyone like to discuss the book and/or the new movie? Esp since this is day 1 and I would like to get to know everyone better

2nd mention and guess what???!!! not by me again!!

There some reason you are unable to see those previous comments des? Blinkers perhaps? a bit of Bias?

unvote vote Despo

Dice seems to be laying it on a bit thick here, overacting maybe? Just the tone of the post strikes me as a mafia member trying too hard to seem town.

Des, I do read and enjoy Cracked.com, it's almost as easy to get lost in the links as TV Tropes. But I don't think I would have recognized this if you hadn't explained it.

*peeps in*

vote Dice

I'm wondering if this is a bit of bandwagoning and/or bussing. Scummy lack of reasoning at all is scummy.

You made me lolz so hard after this. I love how your vote completely contradicts your reasoning.

Ok brain is currently in a mushy state, but will be here later. Lots of seriousness so quickly! The setup talk is a bit over my head, but at least it's got the game going.

Personally I think such discussions are best left until night time.

Gah, pet hate, Panchi, you gonna give a reason for that?

I thought first votes required little reason. They can be unvoted and then voted again.

Rand, why didn't you tell me that first votes also required a reason.

Pank, joke votes don't always require a reason. Not all first votes are joke votes, and when people start making serious votes and getting into real discussion and scumhunting, the time for joke votes is usually past.

I found something scummy about Dice's posting and I voted him. You should look up "contradiction" in a dictionary, cause this doesn't qualify as such.

I'm gonna go through and reread these post at a later time but i wanted to clarify. I found distancing between Despo and Turin not wombat. I apologize if i didn't word that correctly. And to answer your question i did find Despo scummy hence the vote. At this point in time i feel a town read from wombat but he is one of the better players so i leave nothing to chance so early in the game.

Despo have you EVER seen me pull something like that?

cause its 5am and you lot always go nuts while im at work i will ask that i dont get hammered til i get home tonight. If at that point im like L-1 i will tell you who i am much as i hate that

i will say now that i am town.

Ok, that pings a bit with me. You're on L-7 and you're claiming town? I think that's kind of weak, but I stick by my wombat vote. I am not getting the town read everyone else is, and no, I'm not think over-towny. I'm getting a town read from Despo though.

Player under pressure vaguely claims town role. Well colour me shocked. Anyhow, 5 votes on Day 1 isn't that many, especially when you take into account Panchi's (still rather odd) joke vote

You accused him of bandwagoning then did it yourself

First off, Panchi is a her. I accused her of bandwagoning. The female avatar is a dead giveaway.

Secondly, she popped in and made a vote without posting any case for it. I presented a reason behind my vote. Hers is bandwagoning, and possibly bussing a teammate in order to look town.

Starrik and Des are mafia together. /itisknown

unvote vote starrik .

I am not even freaking joking. Scummiest statement of the game.

Well then I guess I just don't understand your reasoning... Feel free to try to further in depth argue your point. I'll listen. Until then FOS Basel

Earlier I found Despo's comments about skimming and how he accused Dice of instigating the cult talk as pretty scummy.

This goes right along with that.

What change made this warrant a vote with no other comment when you were content with an FoS earlier?

I probably just don't know the lingo that well. i just suspect starrik and at this point I believe that he is the most scummy at this point. If you feel that my vote is by any means wrong let me know. If you would like to clarify the lingo please do.

A vote, if warranted, can be representational of you poking the player, attempting to gain reactions or draw attention, or most directly that you suspect the individual is not of the town strongly enough that they warrant your move to lynch them. Unless you have a power role or are mafia it and your words are your only power in the game. There are other more complex uses and meanings behind a vote as well but those are the most common and generally the most practical. Remember that every vote is a step towards removing a player from the game entirely.

FoS, while varied from player to player, can be a powerful use of your words used to show that you are suspect of the motives of an individual. If you FoS too often they are meaningless, if you FoS too rarely then most will ask why you didn't vote who you FoS'd because of the power of it. The Finger of Suspicion is fairly direct and can thus be standout from most other things in this game, lending it more power and credence if wielded effectively.
