People don't like to wait. Impatient people then look for other avenues to get their games going. The Orgs used to not allow it, but now they do, and there you have it.

 

This forum is more organized and structured, with the exception of Thak, but that's because Lily uses a similar structure to what we have here. I don't play the game in random Orgs, because frankly they are not always balanced. You have a higher chance of playing a balanced game here than you do elsewhere.

OK, so I have been here a month with 3, 725 posts. That times 12 * 5, so times 60 is 223, 500, ok never mind I get it.

I just wanted to say, it's not just "nowadays" that people have been running games in the Social Groups, and I don't think that's why things have slowed down. People have been doing games in the Social Groups for a looooooong time, and actually, there used to be a lot more games in the SGs. In addition to Shayol Ghul's and the BT games, the Aiel used to have regular mafia games, the White Tower pretty much did, and even the Wolfkin used to host them pretty regularly. That was in addition to the continuous games going on here.

 

The problem was, a lot of games became very inactive because there was always about 10 games going on at once, and people would spread themselves too thin and not be active. Then new players came on and learned from the older players who were inactive, and didn't even learn how to play actively.

 

We really don't have that problem anymore, for the most part - I've seen people complaining about inactivity in some games lately, but those games have what I consider to be pretty normal activity (and I'm not just basing that on my personal activity level, because I tend to be somewhat of a lurker sometimes).

 

Anyway, to get back to the point, mafia in general has "slowed down" around here all over DM. I don't really see that it's slowed down here on this board, it's just people aren't getting their signups started as quickly as they should. My understanding is, if you're next in the queue, you don't have to wait for Verb to PM you and give you a nudge - you can start your signups as soon as you see a current game getting near the end. There's still a queue though, a pretty long one for Advanced games, so I'm not sure how things have slowed down here, so to speak. And I really don't see how it's related to games in the Groups.
