Making the second book is gonna be so much harder than the first. I wonder how much they'll have to change the story to accomodate, if at all. (SPOILER warning) I bet they wont have Tyrion's face as messed up in the series as in the books. I doubt they'll take his nose and part of his face away. I cant see them pulling off this boat scene without alot of money, but maybe the success of the first series will help pay for it. Im def excited about this. They said they were considering the lady that played Morgana in the Camelot series(which I personally hated and think it failed MISERABLY) for the red priestess, Melindra(spelling is way off I know). They were able to round up brilliant actors for the first series, its amazing. The guy that did Jon Snow is by far the best, IMO(I take that back, Tyrion is brilliant). And although I loved the Jon Snow character in the books, watching him portrayed in the HBO series made him my favorite.

While I don't mean to beat a dead horse in this thread, I feel a need to dispel some myths about longswords and medieval swordsmanship. Firstly, longswords were about 4 feet long. They weighed between 2.5 to 3.5 pounds, averaging about 3 pounds. They were finely forged from good steel, and were designed to cut flesh and bone. They were not, nor could be employed as bashing weapons. If you wanted to bash, you grabbed a poleaxe, which was designed for bashing. European swords used sophisticated distal tapering techniques that made them lighter, on an inch per inch basis than Japanese Nihonto.

As for the swordsmanship..I study medieval swordmanship from the tradition of Maestro Fiore Dei Liberi, a man who fought deadly duels, fought in war and specialised in training men to fight in judicial duelling. It was as elegant and swift as any sword techniques anywhere. The myth of the slow ponderous iron clad idiot swinging his heavy club-like weapon is just that..a myth.

Now for those who are curious, this is what unarmoured medieval swordfighting looked like (to the best of our current knowledge). Please note, the swords these gentlemen are using in the next video are actually heavier than average, yet they still swing them with superb speed and control.

Now keep in mind these are unarmoured techniques. The problem with swords is that they are lousy weapons to fight a man in armour with. Swords cannot cut through armour, and they are poor bludgeons. Europeans developed a completely different style of sword fighting to deal with armour.

Example of Harnischfechten...armoured sword fighting.

Notice how the blade is grabbed, the emphasis on grappling, throwing, thrusting and jointlocks. They aren't trying to cut because you cannot cut armour with a sword. They aren't bashing with the edge, because it will damage the edge and do nothing. The only part they use as a club is the extended crosspiece, which made a very effective knuckleduster and improvised mace. They are breaking joints and exposing seams. This is how the duels with swords in the Game of Thrones would have actually been conducted.

Course your actually assuming people would have actually been trained in similar methods of combat/martial arts. (Historically that is) Obviously the richer the person the more chance they'd actually be trained properly...

With a lot of acclaim and good ratings, everyone is understandably bullish about the future of HBO's big-budget fantasy series "Game of Thrones". Well, things may be going better than we expected.

As we've seen, the ten-episode first season of the show covered 'Game of Thrones', the first book in George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series. The currently in production ten-episode second season will cover the second book 'Clash of Kings' and will premiere in April.

It has previously been indicated that show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss intend to spread the events of the third book, 'Storm of Swords', across the third and fourth season - a plan that will likely continue for the rest of the series.

Now, Winter is Coming reports that it's looking like the third and fourth season will not only be ordered together but will be filmed back-to-back.

The talk has come after reports emerged that several actors have already been auditioned for characters which aren't scheduled to show up until the fourth season. Soon after came word that much of the film crew in Northern Ireland has apparently been told of this plan and has been advised to expect nine months of filming next year (as opposed to the usual late July to mid-December shoot).

The move makes logical sense in terms of cost effectiveness and viewership stability. The site stresses however that HBO likely won’t announce anything official until season two begins so could change their minds.

IIRC there were 3 games in development

one of them recently came out

the review I read said it was a frustrating game but I haven't tried it myself

I think the other two games were supposed to be an MMO and an action/adventure game that is more or less an adaption of the TV show but it was awhile ago I read about this stuff so I could be getting mixed up

well the one in Game Informer said it was for the PS3/360/PC, so i can't see it being an MMO honestly. they said it'll be more in comparison to Dragon Age if anything. heres a link to the online vrsion of the article My link

the one your talkign abotu was Genisis (came out late Sept), and i haven't played it either, but this one is made by the same people who created Genisis
