RULES & SETUP:

 

This game will not feature many rules - but the rules that exist must be strictly abided by.

 

1. Players must be active. Daily participation is expected (RL days). Having said that, announced LOA's are fine, as long as you are active while you are playing.

 

The idea is this; the best games are the ones where people are actively plotting, playing, and posting tons of pages. The worst games are the ones where three RL days go by with a few spam posts. I know weekends will be slow - no problem - and I know that things pop-up and you can't get to a computer sometimes - no problem. I'm trying to promote the "spirit" of the game, and the spirit wants to play.

 

Lurking is an accpetable playstyle. Ignoring is not.

 

2. No faking emergencies. Real things happen, and I'm happy to help with anything like that. But don't use an emergency excuse to cover lurking.

 

3. There are no time limits on days and nights. Having said that, if you are MIA and the entire game is waiting on a night action, I will forfeit your action after 48 hours of no contact. If I see that you have logged on to DM and you are just ignoring this game, there will be no reason for you to check the thread...you'll already know what happened.

 

4. No needless spamming. Game related spamming is fine.

 

Game related spamming is a technique where a player is making a useless or silly argument just to generate pages and pages of posts to a.) discourage players from re-reading due to the volume of posts, or b.) create a diversion while something else is happening that they don't want you to notice. It's sorta like fillibustering. It's a legit technique, and I have no problem with it.

 

Non-game related spamming is when two people are up at night, talking on the thread, wondering how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. Fiddlesticks is availabel for spamming. Don't do it in the game.

 

If you have questions, don't worry - I'll post warnings when I see it happening. Only a repeat offender will be vaporized. As always, wise-crack one liners are encouraged. heh

 

5. Any legit technique will be allowed. This means that people may gang-up on you, or call you a liar, or pick on you for seemingly no reason. You have to remember that it's all part of the game and that it is not personal. Having said that, I absolutley will not allow any personal attacks - they are ridiculous. This is a game. Keep it cool.

 

6. No editing posts for any reason. Evar.

 

7. No quoting mod PM's.

 

8. Any QT (or the like) threads must be linked to me.

 

I'm an active mod - if you have questions, you can ask them on or off thread - whichever serves your purpose.

There will be townies and there will be mafia. The townies win when they kill all of the mafia. The mafia win when they kill enough players to equal or outnumber the townies. If Solo win roles are included, you must be the last player standing to win.

 

There will be many roles. The roles are designed to compliment and work against each other.  For every action, there is a re-action, and so forth and so on. The idea is to create synergy and action to keep things interesting and keep people guessing.

 

All of the possible roles are listed below (all but three pulled from the mafia wiki). These roles may or may not be featured in the game, but if it's not on the list, it won't be in the game. Study the roles so that you can pick them off or have an idea of how you would use it if you get it.

The three new roles have been created especially for this game.

Call-Your-Shot means that you plan your play in advance. You may decide that you want to pull off a gambit, so PM me to let me know that you are doing this. If it flops, there is no glory. If you pull it off, you become a mafia god.

 

Lots of plays exist, from simple traps to elaborate schemes.

 

You can PM me to let me know that you are going to try a get a player lynched. You can PM me to tell me you are going to fake-reveal a role. You can PM me to tell me that multiple players are going to pull off a gambit.

 

Each PM will be graded on a scale of 1 to 10.

 

A relatively easy action will  be eligible to earn from 1 - 3 points. (2 points for starting well, but getting caught. Savvy?)

 

A more difficult play will be eligible to win 4-6 points. I'll discuss with you when your play is a 2nd tier play.

 

A master-plan will be worth from 7 - 10 points, depending on how well it goes.

 

No points will be awarded for outright failure. A master-plan that never takes off will be worth zip.

 

If you don't PM me to call it - I won't count it. No exceptions.

 

I'll award 2 points if you correctly guess somebody's role. I won't tell you about it until the end of the game, but I'll keep your points together.

 

Points will only be announced after the end of the game, so don't ask for them before.

Did you ever pull off a mafia plan that was brilliant, but went unnoticed due to circumstances? Did you ever pull off a play, but no one believed that you meant to? Invent a technique worthy of nicknaming? Or, maybe just figured that you ought to be recognized for your mad mafia skillz?

 

Here's your chance:

 

I'm putting together a multi-roled game, chock full of chances to use those skillz. You are going to PM me with all of your strategies and moves, and together, we'll find out if you're as clever as you think you are. At the end of the game, we'll post everyone's plays to see who steals the glory and who winds up outfoxed.

 

I'll post more info in the weeks ahead, but if you have suggestions or requests (roles, setup, etc.), you can PM them to me.  ;)
