I hope I don't come across that way. One of my strategies is to laugh at the accusation and act like it didn't bother me, but I hope it doesn't seem as if I'm laughing at the person.

Metagaming

I do both of these *Shrugs*

 

1. The deceitfulness. I love trying to figure everything out, it is like a puzzle. However having to manipulate everyone I hate. I do it as much when I am a townie as when I am Scum. I have learned to temper my thoughts so I don't get killed or attacked.

 

2. People who use RL to get sympathy. Sometimes I see RL can be hard and all, but I hate when it is brought up in mafia games. Especially when it is the person who is suspicious.

 

3. Excess spam, very legitimate strategy but very annoying to reread through. I wish DM let you see all posts by a user in a thread. It isn't just for mafia games, it makes trying to find information harder.

When you are playing a game and the majority of players don't bother to actually play.

 

When people get pissy because they don't stop and think that you are fishing for info that could actually help.

I don't mind most of these things, because they are legitimate game strategies. I mean if nobody was allowed to lie, metagame, post walls of text, spam, etc. there wouldn't be a lot left for the mafia team to do to try to win. So, we put up with it. I can't stand it when players sign up for a game and don't play, or barely play. If you don't have time to play the game, don't sign up. If life unexpectedly requires more of your attention than you expected, then ask to be replaced. I don't mean if these things are temporary, for a few days. But if it goes on for weeks, that's not fair to the mod or the other players.

 

I have kind of an opposite pet peeve to Al Jenn's. I hate it when you have a legitimate RL issue and people accuse you of faking. Anybody who would use their RL (other than a simple "I'm busy" or something) to hide scumminess isn't someone I'd like very much. If you tell me your kid is sick and they aren't, I'm going to be a bit upset with you. But if you tell me your kid is sick and I know you're someone who wouldn't lie about it, I'll cut you slack. I wish everyone did.

4. Dying twice in the same game is lame. Especially at the beginning of the game, with almost everyone else alive.

I think the best part was that it was by a role with entirely random abilities that nobody believed was real.

People being doubtful about different roles they haven't heard of before..I mean come on, with all the creative mods we have, twists are to be expected.  Sure take the claim with a grain of salt, it is mafia , after all...but the goal is to have fun too.
