Okay, now that I'm not on my phone trying to cook.... she's not an idiot.  She's not some completely incompetent scum player that is absolutely frozen the entire game.  She's had some pretty strong games, and she's had some not so strong ones.  But she's never had a game where she was ABLE to be really active and just refused to participate at any stage.  It's that she struggles to reproduce the natural reactions/gut impressions of things and has to rely on "firm logic" as scum... so her posts become a lot more forced.

 

Zander's take would probably be right several years ago, when she was outposting most non-Zander/Sili/Eldrick players.  But RL is RL.

Ok... so, lets talk strategy.... So the big question is... Should the deity come out and state who they are?? IT seems to think yes, Nyn's reply to him seems to indicate no. I have my own thoughts on the matter for now, but what are everyone else's?

I'll be honest - based on the signup thread, I figured it would be announced at the start of the game, given that it's an IC.  I didn't think it would be where the possessor gets to decide when it's announced.  So all of the thought I put into strategy (which wasn't a whole hell of a lot tbh) is kinda useless.

 

Assuming it can be passed without the reveal, it could be removed from the game before anybody is even confirmed.  Which seems... really suboptimal to me.  

 

IDK.  I'll probably wait until like halfway through day and then reveal, but I'd have to really think about it to figure out what I think's actually best.

Deity: A lynchproof, unkillable Innocent Child who can permanently pass their ability to another at night time.  Doing this will vanillize the deity.  Should the player pass the ability to a wolf the wolf will die and the ability will be gone from the game.

 

Not sure how it could be removed from the game though... Unless the Deity chose to pass on their ability and gave it to scum... *shrugs* looks like they're invincible...

Which could be a reason to keep it under wraps... if scum did try to kill them it would mean that it would be a wasted NK...

If I were the deity I would not claim until I am revealed: 

 

I am "lynched": meaning that I got the majority of votes for a lynch but it can't go through and mod reveals  OR There is no night kill so that means the mafia would know who I am, so I would want to let town know too, to even the odds.

I'm pretty sure Darthe said if it gets passed to a player, and that player is targeted for a NK the same night, the player dies and the deity is still passed from whoever had it.  So it goes nowhere.

The deity absolutely should reveal if they're getting ran up IMO.  One, I'm not even sure votes on the deity are going to count, but if they do... it's pretty obvious what happened when the top vote getter survives the lynch.  

 

If you claim BEFORE it gets to that point, people can move off and lynch somebody else.  All you do by NOT claiming is forego the opportunity to lynch - or, in other words, guarantee you don't lynch mafia.

My gut reaction is that the deity stay secret as long as possible. Not knowing who it is hurts scum more than it hurts us, since they can waste both daytime efforts and a NK, where we only waste the energy put into trying to lynch the deity before they reveal, and even then we still have the opportunity to CFD as has been pointed out already. Plus, taking someone off the table reduces the chances for scum to bark up the wrong tree when trying to set up mislynches

 

On the other hand, if there were a night with no kill (ie the scum tried to shoot the deity by luck/deduction and therefore know who it is), I'd probably revise my position since at that point they'd have more information than we do.
