Mmmmmm . . . Butterbeer!  Hey, wait . . . Lucius Malfoy never does anything nice for anyone unless he has ulterior motives!  Especially when it involves my family (the Weasleys).  *eyes the butterbeer suspiciously*  Is it poisoned?

Butterbeer, at least the kind they've made and sell at the attractions, are actually kind of nasty :( It's like a weird sirup-ish tasting soda with a really weird and unnatural foam on top. Yuck.

I've had the butterbeer in Hogsmeade and it tastes neither like beer nor butter. I must say, the pumpkin juice and the Three Broomsticks was much better.

I know I could make a lovely butterbeer... like butter beans there would be no butter, but it would be rich and buttery... perhaps a hint of malty bitter butterscotch, much like dukesas Malta, but lighter... perhaps a bit lagery but still lighter, softer. warmer. in flavor, not temp. hint of vanilla and birch.

not any sweeter than hard cider.

perhaps a touch of rum... which is delightful buttered.

a properly tapped beer has no head.

Nonsense. Any beverage with enough CO2 will have some foam with a traditional tap. Also, there are beers like Guinness in which a creamy head is desirable to the point that they are mixed with nitrogen when tapped for the purpose of creating such a head. I was thinking a creamy nitrogen head would go well with the butteryness but it's up to you, brewmistress.
