I miss glow.

Could have done without needing to type in the "=red,2,300" bit though.

You know what resolves that? [v] [/v] <- VOTE TAGS! But our admin is a lazy so and so...

Why is it easier to bold than bold+color? Just one more tag.

Not sure why we even need bold tho.

Votes need to stand out. Italics and underline doesn't cut it. Needs bold or color or both.

Here's your timer:

This is what I'm going to use for a vote tag:

My Suggestions

1) Every 6 months or so run a "beginner's game."  In this game there will be 1 experienced player who will give out advice in the thread for all to see, analyzing play styles, answering questions, etc.  This is similar to the "newbie games" on mafia scum.  There isn't a mentor for every player but a single mentor for all.  The experienced player would not be playing in the game.

2) Keep track of how many games people have played.  Until they have played 5 games they are not allowed to join more than 1 game at a time.  After the 5 game minimum, players will be allowed to join 2 games at a time, maximum.

3) Change Basic games to Basic/Standard.  The Standard games would be allowed to use the "less common roles" as defined by MS.  I advocate this because advanced games will get 30 players excited and signed up whereas Basic games will struggle to get 12 players.  IMO Basic games need something to make them more appealing to players while at the same time still not becoming as complex as advanced games.  I think Standard games would meet such requirements nicely.  The Basic/Standard games queue could rotate between the two styles of games.

We tried the basic/standard thing multiple times.  Not going back to it.

The keeping track of the # of games people play would be too difficult when there are games played in a few different spots across DM.....tracking that would be a PITA.  Besides, vets do the same thing - sign up for too many game and then are inactive in most.

I like the idea of the beginner game.  We've done that before (sort of), and if people want to run those, I'm happy about it.

I will be allowing potential Mentors to help in the WT Game.

Plus it will be a nice friendly game and only as complicated as people want to make it. So perfect for new people - possibly.

Until you see the Stud Total going down and realise that someone has been spending >.>

Anyways - new players and fun in the WT in a couple of weeks. Hopefully. Although I think my assigned Co-Mod has vanished

I happy to be a mentor and have mentor games. My next basic one will require a mentor for anyone with less than a year experience.

do i qualify for a mentor, i still havent had a year of DM/mafia experience?

No offense intended, but I would say probably not.  If you have to ask whether you qualify as a vet, my guess is that you probably don't.

Again, no offense.......noobs can be awesome players, and better than any vet.  Just look up Luthine someday - she was a noob and played Doc better than ANYBODY I've ever seen.  Outplayed several vets en route to a few wins as Doc.  Insane.

none taken, and i know im not a vet, not even close lol, and personally i dont think i need a mentor, i just need to work on my play style to make it a bit less spammy

I'm terrible as Doc. Only had it once and yeah - didn't trust anyone, talked too much as usual and ended up Dead pretty fast.

I don't generally get Roles though - so get to just mess about being Vanilla, and talking too much and ending up Dead pretty fast.

I know you've mentioned that to me before, but I don't think I understand the reasoning behind "not going back to it."  Can you explain more in depth for me?

And you're correct about it would be difficult to keep track of people in multiple games.  However, I would suggest making it a "rule" and then having people hold to that rule on the honor system rather than having mods be forced to keep track.

As for a beginner game, I don't mind modding one with an experienced player as a whole-game mentor if such a player would like to offer their services.

On updates to the site:

- vote tag, not happening....just make vote have to be bolded.  Making them red is unnecessary.  I'll be asking Darthe/Wombat to allow me to bold only, as it is MUCH easier from the phone.  No tags needed, as DM already has what you need.

- timer, not happening.....just use the link Nolder used, or a mod can make a post stating the amount of time left.  We've survived just fine without it.

- ISO button......I want this.  I've wanted it for a while.  We used to be able to sort posts by person, but that went away in a prior version of DM.  I'll look into what it would take to have this back.

Some of us don't use the version of DM with buttons so any code must be hand written

Tbh I don't mind having to bold and red (the color=red makes that ok) but a preset code would be nice lol

Also about mentors. I was gunna start implementing this in all games I mod. Anyone who's played up to 5 games (10 is they ask nicely) will be allowed a mentor.

They can ask another player to mentor or someone can volunteer

But hopefully that will help. Just having the option there
