That's right, ladies and gents! It's time to celebrate the best part of any story! The good guy always gets the girl, but they'd be hopelessly girl-less without these, the most awesome villains EVER! These folks set the bar for the bad guys in every book, movie and TV show on the planet!

So, let's celebrate them!

Which is your favorite Disney Villain?

And then look at these awesome graphics for the villains!

I can only choose one? I have to admit, in that case I'd go with Scar. He coordinates (successfully, however temporarily) a coup d'etat of his brother's kingdom, managing to convince his nephew it's all his fault and making it look, to the rest, like an accident, in true medieval English (and many other countries) treachery played out on the African Savannah. His subtlety, ability to wait, plan (and frankly his amazing vocabulary for a Disney villain, as demonstrated often, particularly in "Be Prepared") all make me enjoy watching him. Being voiced by Jeremy Irons doesn't hurt either.

I love that artwork, Rasheta! I saw that on Pinterest tonight and went WOW!!  I'm betting the stories would've been different! LOL

Ursula is my favorite. She was dethroned and banished, but rather than roll over and die, she kidnaps the King's extraverted daughter and manipulates the situation to her favor to gain control over her former crown. Let's not forget she also manages to steal the girl's voice and catch the handsome prince, herself. Sure, she had to use magic, but hey! She got to the altar with Eric before Ariel did!

Re: What if Disney Villains were beautiful

Saw it a few days ago on reddit. Kind of bugged me how they slimmed down Ursula so much.

I think they could have made her somewhat chubby and still "beautiful".

Nice artwork though.

...Am I allowed to post in here? I've never been into the Kin before...*looks around*

Cause I cannot resist the pull of Disney.

Also, HADES!!!!!! Though Scar is very, very close. (The voicing definitely helps). I love Hades rather a lot. He's always been amongst my favourites. Who doesn't love a sassy lord of the dead with anger management issues and awesome one liners?

Ok, I'll sneak back out again now :p

No need to sneak out, Bard!! :) What I love about Disney Month is that it'll drag you in, whether you're a member or not! hehehe

I'm wicked that way! ;)

Scar was pretty darned awesome! And Hades had me laughing all the way through the movie. "Did my hair go out?" *laughs*

Scar was... eh.

Shere Khan was a much more complicated character, I think.  He was depicted very differently physically from Kipling's original stories but the character flaw is still there.  Shere Khan has sworn an oath to kill humans and hates fire and abides by it, thinking it is the "law of the jungle."  Bagheera disaproves, because it is outside the scope of "the law" and it is Khan's personal fear and vendetta which causes him to operate outside the accepted norm of behavior.  Yet, while hunting Mowgli, Shere Khan also shows a gentlemanly flare and a willingness to give him a sporting chance, suggesting that he has an idea of personal honor despite his misunderstanding of "the law."

Scar is unhinged, selfish and unrestrained.  His greed destroys the well-being of the kingdom.  Disney's Shere Khan is motivated by fear but it's obvious he's trying to restrain that inner battle - he would have the most opportunity for character growth between the two.  He's not evil.  He's misguided.

I judged them based on sheer ruthlessness. I think it's the selfish greed that pushed Scar into a far more ruthless position. Khan, on the other hand, doesn't strike me as ruthless as much as holding to a standard (ie, he's striking back at source of that fear to remove it from his world). Scar doesn't even have that, he's just mad he wasn't born first.

*Shrugs* just me, I guess...

Which is why I like Shere Khan more: I understand fear and how it can taint reason. I don't understand Scar's ruthlessness born of envy. I'm certain plenty of people do but it's not somethig I can easily establish a connection with.

I guess what I'm getting at is I look for "believable bad guys" because it's easier to see how one can make the same mistakes. I know I can make Khan's mistake but I know I don't have it in me to follow in Scar's madness.

I agree with ya there, Lady!  Scar is my favorite villain, I mean just look at him!

Favorite Villan.

I mean, not only did he kill his own brother, but he convinced his nephew that the death was his own darn fault.

Maleficent screws up the succession of two kingdoms over the lack of invite to a baby shower. *G*

She seems a bit more evil that way. *G* I'm so amused we are having a debate? Discussion? over who is more evil. *ggls*

It's a fun discussion isn't it?

Got to agree with some of what's up here, Shere Kahn is also a wonderful villain. Something about Big Cats here. The natural predator part is helpful, and his fear is indeed understandable. It's an instinct on top of him being a particularly nasty tiger.

Rambling thoughts time! I think half of what I do like about Scar's motives, is the fact that it's happened in real life historically. There are copious examples through-out history of younger brothers being unhappy with the line of succession because primogeniture (oldest son inherits by default, regardless of ability) isn't fair.

Actually I've discovered on DeviantArt lately (just doing searches for artwork)  a random subset of various fan comics that explore the history of the Pridelands (based on the short series of back-story books that came out in the 90s that were children's books), and some explore the possibilities of what influences made Scar so angry with his brother and power-hungry in the first place (beyond the fact that it is the nature of male lions, as well as many men raised to power, and the fact that the senior male in the Pride is the one who gets the women in the majority of cases). They're pretty interesting. At least one even goes into possible theories on how he got involved with the Hyenas.

Though the critical point still in those is the fact that dealing with a wild animal is not the same as dealing entirely with a human character, however they are humanized.

It's also cool I think how people identify with villains based on their own nature and preferences.

For "Most Evil" Honestly.... (Scar is my favorite villain, I'm not sure I qualify him as most 'evil').... I think as a child I would have straight up said Cruella deVille. I mean really. What kind of a person kidnaps and kills people's puppies to make fur coats?

And a nod to above. LOVE Hades! He's hysterical.

Disney Villians...there are so many good ones. I like scar as well and it's been a long time since I've seen the jungle book, so trying to remember shere khan.

Some other I like that haven't been mentioned:

Jafar - a man who knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. Ultimately, this strength is his flaw, which I find makes him a rather believable character

Shan Yu from Mulan - I just really liked him!

Shan Yu is a really awesome one, too!

How about the most evil female villains? Queen Grimhilde (Snow White's Step-mom) wins in my book, I think (after Ursula, perhaps?). The woman wanted to kill her step-daughter because she was prettier...

(Check out this pic I found on Pinterest... hehehe)
