My prayers and thoughts are with you guys. I woke up to this and spent half an hour numb and sad. My two cousins live in Boston and they are runners. Thank God they weren't able to make it to this marathon. Just... don't... understand... why...

Thank you for putting up this thread, Ryrin! I just saw about this in our morning newspaper. It was very sketchy on information - anyone have any updates?

Masema, are you in Boston?

Yes Mother I am. I live right down the street from where it happened. It was all pretty chaotic. I went to the store to get some stuff and people were walking away in droves some crying talking about bombs. Went home and turned on the news and then I saw it.

Well I'm watching the morning news right now and turns out there are three casualties, one an eight year old boy, and 130 injuries. No one knows who did it. How can people be so evil?

I'm so sorry, Masema ... this must have been such a shock :(

I don't know why people do things like this. We had a spate of bombings here in South Africa too, years ago. There's no justification for things like that.

You are most welcome. My 15 year old son was in Boston a couple of weeks ago. He was watching the news and said "I was on that street."

I feel so terribly for those that were there and were killed/injured and their families. I keep checking but no real updates yet.

Not too active in this group, but I'm okay, and all my friends are too.

I'll edit this with what I put in d&d tomorrow.

I consider myself pretty sotic, and I have always sinically viewed "healing services" or <town name> pride slogans after tragities.

How I was wrong. I was effected by this only tangentially - i was cheering at the top of heart break hill, and all of my friends who were downtown are okay. I go back to the event that was attacked; a marathon. A freaking marathon. Do you know nothing about marathoners? We are crazy. We admit it. We live it. We love it. Blizzards, ice storms, and rain can't stop our training. Our feet are bloody and our skin is raw. Our body is spent, but our spirit is strong.

Terrorism never posses exhistential threats to societies like normal war does. It is an attack on the pysche, on the mind, and therefore more powerful than any calvary charge. Except when targeting a group of people who define themselves by their ability to overcome physical adversity, pain, and limitations. I am a runner. I am a marthoner. I am a Bostonian. I am strong. We are all strong.

Next Patriots day, you can greet me at the intersection of Boylston and Dartmouth. This I promise you.

To sum up; look for me next year at Bolyston and Dartmouth!! (Hopefully in < 5 hours)

Thanks for sharing the pic Masema.  I live 54 miles away from Boston, but it's still my city.  I was just in Copley a couple of weeks ago meeting a fellow DMer (Mayleigh Aes Sedai).  I can't understand why people do things like this.  I know I never will understand it, I actually don't want to ever understand it.

It looks like they got the second murderer.  He's still alive hiding in a boat.  They have him surrounded.  (as of a 1/2 hr ago)
