I think it has been well established in this very game that the two of you chat together.  We cannot risk having both of you in this game.   At best, you both are innocent and will provide an easy distraction from the mafia.  At worse, you both are scum and we will always dismiss your mafia tells as "oh they are just bondeds" and ignore them.

But in all seriousness, Mynd, Ishy and I are bonded, and it doesn't affect our play in the slightest. Typically we joke vote each other, and that's about it, other than the typical joking around. In a previous game where I was mafia, I actually NK'd him. So your premise of voting for "bonded" players who are actually mentor and mentee because it gives an unfair advantage or is a distraction is basically flawed.

This, I've only played a very few games with him, and I know how he works, especially you Peace should know how Mynd works, very suspicious of you, this is his meta exactly. Not saying that Mynd isn't mafia since he is smart enough to use his meta, but that shouldn't be a reason to vote him, since he is doing exactly what he always does. My vote is still on Lenlo though.

Rand, it isn't that he is out shaking his snake it is that he is botching so much. It is also interesting that all three of you have put forth the same defense. Meta. You Olay to a style for a reason. So small variations are written off because it still looks the same.

 

Regardless of Mynd's alignment I would be willing to bet at least one of you three is mafia. Either buddying up to him or trying to stall his train.

Mynd isnt making even as little sense to me as he usually does.  however it is building fast. and im wary of that simply because if he IS town and we lose him we lose a strong player and i dont want to do that really quick and on D1 to boot! and just based on his meta when most of us know his meta is crazy anyways!

I'm much more interested in how fast this Mynd train has built up. You can bet that there are some opportunistic scum that jumped on there when they saw how quick it was taking off. Seeing as how he's right in the center of it and because I already found Mish's defense of him an obvious protection of a teammate, I'm moving back to Unvote. Vote _Cloud.

 

And you people that have played with him before are suspect as well. Mynd copywrote the whole "Beat the grass to startle the snakes" play. For you all to read more into it than that is FoS-worthy and suspicious.

First, apologies for the quotes. They're weird. Also, this is going to be something of a wall, since I have a few pages to catch up with. Ho hum.

Cosmic, the game is less than 24 hours old, on page 3, with several players that have not checked in. There are several joke votes out at the moment. Lighten up.

As to the cloud, mish thing. Mynd admits his vote on cloud was weak. Mish has a certain set if beliefs about proper form. I believe she thought it his first game and stood up for him like some of us would for friends that we felt were being treated unfairly. Bottom line I think the whole thing is much ado about nothing. And that the real mafia are sitting back laughing their heads off.

I think it would have been more effective to see who else jumped on the cloud train before declaring victory in the game.

Okay, so you think the whole Cloud thing is just Mynd being silly, and you think that Ishy's been similarly vacuous, and your vote at the moment is a joke vote. Do you have any actual thoughts about the game?

You shouldn't talk to Mish outside the game thread about this game at all. I'm sure you know that by now, of course, but in a way it's good that you didn't tell her.

Other people have addressed this already, as you will have noticed. But many people from the DM social groups chat outside of mafia games they're in, without also talking about the game. Apparently there have been problems recently with people talking outside of the thread, but you can't just lynch people for that.


However, that said, I don't get the Mynd train.


I really hate TG's vote for Mynd in post 100. Mynd's argument, however misguided, was that it does affect the game, and so to simply contradict him and vote for him on that reasoning is awful. I also think that the argument about the bonding is simply semantics, as Mynd was clearly talking about Cloud and Mish talking outside of the game-thread.

Cloud has a fair point about lots of other people in the game probably also chatting to each other. I'm not too keen on the reasoning here either, though. People who know me will recall that I'm big on my fundamentals of mafia play, chief of which is that you should vote somebody if you think that they're scummy. Cloud's reasoning is this: 'Since you have the tendecy [sic] to just disregard posts and only push your own opinion forward I will vote against you.' So Mynd is perhaps not a team player, but Cloud hasn't said why Mynd's play helps the scum.

Kae's vote is better but also doesn't explain why Mynd's play is actually scummy.

Peace's vote seems to be more out of annoyance than anything else.

At this point, JLM, Lenlo, and RandA come in to defend Mynd all at once. Interestingly, RandA finds both Peace and Kae suspicious, but not cloud or TG. I wonder why?

Turin then jumps in to defend Peace, saying that 'it isn't that he is out shaking his snake [but] that he is botching [it] so much.' Again, I'm just not seeing why it is scummy to play badly, if that's what Mynd is guilty of. Peace concurs.

Dice shows up and says that he doesn't want to lose Mynd, just in case he's town. Right.

JLM thinks that the reactions to Mynd's play are more interesting than Mynd's play. I agree, but I'd like to know what she thinks is interesting. I've said what I think about it in this post already.

Peace again says (in reply to RandA again defending Mynd) that because Mynd is playing badly, he's probably scum, because Mynd wouldn't play badly unless it was a deliberate decision? I respect the guy but I don't think he's infallible, so I don't like Peace's argument here. 

I like Ishy's list of scum, although at the moment I think Turin needs more attention.

The game is already compromised if "bondeds" are speaking to each other.  That gives an unfair advantage to the mafia in at least one of three ways, besides being explicitly against the spirit of the game as stated earlier:

 

1) If they are both are scum, then we won't be able to get a decent read on them working together because they can just argue that they are bondeds and such.

 

2) If both are innocent, then the same as above applies but becomes a distraction from the actual mafia working together.

 

3) If one is scum and the other is not, then this gives the mafia a huge advantage and strong influence over the other, therefore neither could be trusted.

 

I contend that CLOUD's lynch makes the most sense for Day 1.

Once I got over the first reaction i had to Mynd's posts (which was, "lynch this crazy guy") i realised this. Mynd is trying to beat the bushes and startle the snakes, but he is making a bad job of it, and it looks like he will get himself lynched.... again.

This is another possibility. Mynd always does this, scum or town, but he knows exactly what it looks like, he knows it draws votes from town and scum alike.

I find your lack of doubt disturbing.... and your defence of Mynd, who shares your apparent "Cloud+Mish=scum" opinion, even more so.

You are far too confident in your "catches", all of which are supported by flimsy evidence, if any at all. Cloud said "This is my first ADVANCED game". It is easy enough for Mish to misinterpret that and read "first GAME". And of course, most players defend first-time players on principle, irrespective of alignment, so i think that that is what Mish was doing. She just made a mistake, it would seem.

 

 

Both Mynd and Ishy have cast blame on the shoulders of Mish and Cloud using weak reasoning and flimsy excuses. FOS@ both of them.

I will withhold my vote until Mynd posts next. 5 votes is more than enough pressure in so short a time span, methinks.
