November 2012 is ancient by DM standards.

 

My current game has more posts than at least 90% of games did back then from start to finish.

 

The player base is almost completely different.

 

I would take anything in this thread with a grain of salt.

Amazingly, forced substitutions and inactivity mod kills were way more common when 3 posts per phase was acceptable.

I suspect player base was larger, games filled faster and subs were easier to find

Oh god, from a data entry standpoint I was so happy when the 30 player games that seemed to happen every other week faded away.

Activity is tricky as people have different playing styles

 

If you post enough to communicate thoughts then it doesn't matter if it's in 10 posts or 100. If you don't post enough to do that you don't leave the POE and will probably be lynched. There are enough players that recognise that 'not being scummy' doesn't necessarily mean anything if you're not being townie that I think with a slightly more experienced player base you'd have been lynched.
