A Memory of Light: Brandon Sanderson's Tour

Recommended Posts

(Apologies to Mods/Admins if this is in the wrong section).

As expected, Brandon Sanderson will be on tour for the release of A Memory of Light (just like for past books).
Originally the tour was to include more stops then will soon be announced because Brandon just had his third child and has had to scale back the number of stops. It will be US/Canada only.

I'd love it if BS would stop in MN

Well, he will. And early. He'll be in Roseville on the 8th at 7pm. So he should nice and exhausted after the midnight release (and Mormons, I believe, abstain from caffeine).

His Barnes and Noble schedule (not sure if full or partial) is up:

EDIT:

Wow, fail on my part. I didn't realise there was another thread here:

http://www.dragonmou...rson-tour-2013/

and more tour dates listed here:

http://www.goodreads...andon_Sanderson

The curious(possibly sad?) thing is that the NYC tour stop is not listed on Barnes&Noble's website. Was the store a victim of Hurricane Sandy? Did they cancel it?

these signing locations are kinda strange.. Why not just have the signing in Chicago instead of Skokie? Blah further drive for me on a college night :/

The Skokie store (where I work, actually) is the only one big enough. There really aren't many B&Ns downtown.

Any idea how certain the Alabama signing is, and which part of the tour it will be in? That would be awesome for me coming from Mississippi. Usually the closest stop is Dallas, but if I'm going that far out of my way I'd rather book a week vacation in LA. TOR has been about to announce the tour schedule "any day now" for weeks and time is running out for finding cheap plane tickets. Surely they'll do it sometime this week right???

Hey guys, just a quick note.

Questions and speculation is perfectly fine, but I would ask you to please refrain from posting specific times and venues as truth.

As Peter has said, many of these times are just plain wrong, and I would ask you to refrain from potentially misleading people.

As mentioned, the official times will be published via various sources, including Dragonmount when it has been finalized.

Until then, lets keep it at speculation.

Understood; added a disclaimer in the first post.

Well, authors have been to the Roseville B&N before, so it seems a likely venue. I'll be dragging myself out there if it happens. I wonder, though, how likely it would be that I can get someone at the store to set aside a chair for my girlfriend. She's got a back issue that doesn't allow her to stand long, and I'd hate to have to go without her.

I can understand that you guys do Provo and Charlotte every year, but why not branch out on the rest of the tour and hit some different places for a change? Completely skipped Louisiana and Mississippi on all three tours yet Hanover, MD makes the cut all three times. Fortunately I have family in Baltimore so I was able to get signed books the first two rounds, but I was hoping New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Biloxi, or Jackson would make the cut this time around.

I think you meant Charleston not Charlotte but your point is valid. Even though they skipped NYC and Boston this time 'round, they have been there before. For Utah and Charleston, it makes sense seeing as they are where Brandon and Harriet each respectively live. I was hoping for an Ottawa/Montréal stop because Brandon was just in Toronto. I couldn't make the 2hr commute to Montréal last time Brandon was there. Maybe the turnout était horrible à Montréal la dernière fois?

Yes, Charleston. C words, kinda close to one another. Of course Charleston and Provo make sense, and I completely support those stops. I don't have TGS and TOM lists in front of me, but I'd be willing to bet there were other repeated stops besides those two and Baltimore. I'd be willing to make a bit of a drive to hit a tour stop but the closest would be 6 1/2 hours to Birmingham which is a bit much.

Ya, 61/2 is far. Toronto is 41/2 from my place. If it were scheduled for one week later it would be during "Reading Week" the "spring break" equivalent for Canadian universities and I could go. Seems like I'll be out of luck. I'm sure Herid will ask some great questions if he's at the Toronto event.

There were.

Not sure if either list was complete. Hanover is indeed a 3-peat. Some other locations have had many in their area.

For example in 2009 Dayton and Lexington also had signings.

Cincinnati (within 100 miles of both cities) had 1 in 2010. Reasonable driving distance.

For 2012 back to Dayton and Lexington. No one in those 3 cities can complain. (However if you live in Cleveland, then go ahead and vent-lol).

They didn't really skip Boston this time. Milford, NH is about an hour north and is an incredibly drive, so anyone that would go to Boston could just make the trek up. It should be interesting to see the tour hit a smaller town after spending time in the big cities.
