In my opinion Vin vs. Jon duel will be decided according to the number of the votes coming from Europe. There are quite few people there that are aware of Brandon's works. Mistborn novels are relatively new, so I'm sure they have not even been translated to some languages. In my country I saw them translated in late 2010. I have bought them a week ago for my sister's birthday (which is this Thursday, so I have read them secretly and just finished). I voted for Vin but wouldn't do it, if i haven't read the books first. This is the reason I won't vote for Perrin: I haven't read the Malazan (and I don't intend to... not soon at least) so I don't know Perrin's rival and my vote would be pure fanboyism. Although Perrin is my favourite character I am not aware of this Quick Ben and it is not my right to pronounce a death sentence on him.

The whole suvudu idea is wrong. They should pick the contestants more carefully. There are plenty of "swordsmen" and plenty of "magicians" in fantasy. Why not divide them into different tournaments.

You're thinking too hard for this.

If Mat comes up no one could beat him, the most powerful mage in the universe against Mat would end with the mage on the floor dead, after happening to be struck by a branch that fell on his head, despite the fact that there weren't any trees for 20 miles of the battlefield.

Or the mage would just happen to step into a gopher hole and break his leg, then when trying to heal it a massive sinkhole will open up and swallow him, then as he tries to escape that he will end up swallowing dirt that happens to be poisonous and die.

In other words, in a Mat Vs anyone fight Mat could fall asleep and end up beating them by sheer luck.

hehe, I just tweeted/Facebooked from the WoT Fans page. The votes are going up drastically for Vin, though I apparently drew in a handful of Jon voters too. I'll do it again before the match closes, probably during US work hours tomorrow?

20 minutes after the tweet shows 300 for Vin and 30 for Jon Snow. Woo! I didn't check it before the tweet, though...didn't occur to me till a few minutes after I tweeted it.

Thats awesome, Terez!!!

And in case anyone is interested in the current vote totals, I see VIN with a very good lead over Jon Snow.

Vin currently has 3,908 votes.

Jon Snow currently has 2,564 votes.

Lets not let down Brandon Sanderson and everyone's favorite allomancer.

VOTE VIN FOR THE WIN AGAINST JON SNOW. :flamingsword:

When I tweeted at 9:12 pm GMT-6 (US CST) it was 3608 to 2534 (or rather, a few minutes after). Current total is 4033 to 2574. Still better than 10 to 1.

Well half of them are my newly created viruses that infiltrate people's computers just to vote for Vin in this match-up, I admit. But only half.

And damn. Vin's votes just keep climbing. Virus jokes aside, I'm anxious to see what happens overnight. Alas, sleep comes soon.

As you can see, Jon Snow got close to 5000 votes in the first round, so I thought it reasonable to expect they could drum up the same again in response to Vin's gain earlier today. So I preempted them.

Damn, full on balescream washing over all the ASoIaF fans when they see that. Now what do you have up your sleeve if Quick Ben needs you to be his shaved knuckle?

A friend of mine runs the Malazan Facebook page. It only has 4000 or so likes, though. I might be able to drum up some support on the tor.com page but I doubt much. We will see.

I'm wondering if I should tweet again as the Europeans wake up. Well, most should be at work by now...or will be in an hour or so in the case of the GMT folks. Overkill? Hell, it was overkill in the first place.

I just really want Vin to have 7000 votes before I go to bed. Is that too much to ask? Less than 100 votes to go! (though for the last 3 hours she's only gotten 500 votes) :madmyrddraal: (that is the sleep time between North America and Europe - both are sleeping during those hours)

I just realized I live just a few minutes from Vambram in all likelihood.

Who'd have thunk it?

I mean, Quick Ben would clearly win, but they could have done the write-up in T'A'R. Make it interesting, ya know?

Still, 'twas a good write-up.

I voted for Quick as well, unless the battle took place in TAR Perrin wouldn't stand a chance. I don't know enough about him to assume how he would do in TAR but even there his powers might be enough to overcome Perrin if he doesn't know what he is fighting.
