Before the release of TOM...

What are you doing/reading before TOM's release?

I'm reading Under the Dome by Stephen King, and procrastinating on a 21-page paper about warfare in ancient Greece due at the end of the semester. I haven't started it yet. I'm just glad midterms were LAST week. 3 tests, 2 papers, and TOM? I probably couldn't help blowing off something.

I think I'll be completely ADD during the next week or so at school and work. How about you?

I'm currently suffering through Wizard's First Rule, on the grounds that something so awful can only increase my appreciation of ToM.

This is the one book in my life I actually regret reading, and not only because I'm a rabid WoT fan. It was such a pitiful attempt at riding the epic fantasy bandwagon. But more gratuitous sex and a love story that makes no sense make it better right? Wrong.

Ever been to their fansite? LOL. I used to "troll" there under the name Mat Cauthon just saying "Read WoT. Read WoT. This series is an embarrassing shadow."

I know I know, if I don't like it I shouldn't read it. I don't care. Consider this a PSA. You've been warned.

Edit: On topic, I'm reading Dragon Reborn. My how innocent our heroes were back then. Warms the heart.

You clearly don't understand the Important Human Themes, death-chooser :laugh:

ETA: In case the two big smilies don't make it clear, I'm joking :O

Don't worry, WoT and SoT fandom are mutually exclusive. This is the one place I can be completely safe in my bashing of this inferior series. I'll admit, I did pick up a used copy of the second book of the series, but it was just so stupid I never finished it.

last thing i read was The Lies of Locke Lamoraby Scott Lynch; really need to get the sequel. if you haven't already read it, and have a sense of humour, you really should! I was planning on starting the Malazan books, even had Gardens of the Moon with me, but i never did. Now i have Midnight's Children by Rushdie waiting for me, which is on my must-read list, but maybe i should stick to Kaplan's Mathematics Foundations of the GMAT, instead. :P

I've been rereading TGS, too. I've been at it since about June, and got to VoG in about 3 days. I haven't touched it since. I'll finish on the first. God, why can't they release this on a Saturday? I'm gonna be completely useless in class that day. Geography, Ancient Greek History, and Teacher Ed stand in my way. At least they're all lectures.

BBOBA= Big Book Of Bad Art= The Big White Book= The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time.

I've been insanely consistent with my reread despite work and school, and I'm starting TGS today, reading 100 pages a day. Should have it finished Monday.

Well that's not entirely true. I actually read and enjoyed the entire SoT series. Though I will readily admit that WoT is much better and on an entirely different level.

Ohhhh of course you had to go there....:]

What did you think of Under the Dome Kefka? I was quite surprised. Other then Duma Key, some short stories, and The Dark Tower books, King hadn't written anything in the '00's that was that good. I was surprised that Under the Dome was actually really, really good. A nice way to bookend his career with epic 1,000 pagers contrasting and comparing the way it did with The Stand.

Anywho, I am on Path of Daggers. While it seems as though I am laughably behind on my reread, from the way time has slowed to a crawl the past month in my overwhelming anticipation for ToM I half expect it to be going so slow I might actually be able to read 5 books in 7 days!
