The clues to the final GREAT HUNT code!

My off-topic question, but still topic related is, is this really the last code? Does anybody know? According to BWS Great Hunt page we're missing 25-32 and 33-39. So do just assume these numbers never mattered and after 18 is unlocked by Brandon this will be the last code to plug in? Sorry, just scratching my head since Brandon says this is the last code and the numbers don't match up. Anyone in the know have any idea on this?

It's the last code in the sense of the highest-numbered code. With this, we know how many clues there will be. It's not necessarily the last code which will be found and entered.

Two questions:

1) Is there anybody here who either lives in or near Venice or Verona, or could call in a favor from someone who does? If not, we're pretty much out of luck anyway.

2) What would a dude called Ryan do in either Venice or Verona? Ryan is not an Italian name, it's an English name. Let's assume Ryan works with a UK or US company, such as an airline, a travel agency or something else tourist related, an English language school or stuff like that. Maybe together with the sign, this will narrow stuff down. Has anybody tried to google such things?

It could well be in Italian, which makes life difficult....

First letter does look like it's probably an s but could be an f or g, depending on the distortion?

After that is what looks like an n, but could be a capital a, or two letters together e.g. p then i or f then i (or p then l?).

Then probably a c, or maybe a lower case e?

Next is surely a k or h.

Then probaly an e, maybe an f.

Lastly capital R or maybe A.

It actually looks like "SPICKER" to me, which is senseless.

From Brandon:

# Clue #3: "Mervin's" (Note that there are only 2 codes left to enter to unlock everything. This one, and one other I will give out today.)

# Clue #2: to location of the final code: "My aged grandmother!" (Note that all of these are clues to the location, not the code phrase.)

First clue for the final code: "Demoux." (Note, all of these are going to be only obscurely related. Much like third/leather.) #Wotgh

Venice seems likely from clue #2, but after that i've got no idea. Bit too obscure for me.

Mervin most likely refers to the character Mervin in WoT who invented the steamengine.

It is very likely at a train station in Venice called Santa Lucia (Demoux was/is a Saint).

Also, Peter Ahlstrom said (right after we guessed the Mervin link), "Ask me if you're on the right track" (emphasis added by me on "track").

When asked, he said, "No comment." But still... Track, Mervin, Steam Engine... All adds up, probably, to trainstation in Venice.

Long time lurker, first time poster. But I am so excited about all the lead-up to ToM that I can't resist!

I have an idea about the guy named Ryan, and why he would be in Italy. Does Brandon know anyone in the military? There are 4 bases for US forces in Italy. It's a long shot I know, but wanted to throw it out there.

'my aged grandmother' is something Bayle Domon says four times during the series, most recently at Falme in TGH chapter 43 'A Plan'

TEOTW CH 20 'Dust on the Wind'

"No, Captain, no. It was him." Gelb pointed straight at Rand. "I was on guard, just like I was supposed to be, when he sneaked up and hit me with a club." He touched the bruise on his head, winced, and glared at Rand. "I fought him, but then the Trollocs came. He's in league with them, Captain. A Darkfriend. In league with the Trollocs."

"In league with my aged grandmother!" Captain Domon roared. "Did I no warn you the last time, Gelb? At Whitebridge, off you do go! Get out of my sight before I put you off now." Gelb darted out of the lantern light, and Domon stood opening and closing his

hands while he stared at nothing. "These Trollocs do be following me. Why will they no leave me be? Why?"

TGH CH 9 'Leavetakings'

He had men to meet, and he was not happy about it.

More revelers ran past singing off-key, wine mangling their words. "The Horn of Valere, " my aged grandmother! Domon thought glumly. It be my ship I do want to hang on to. And my life, Fortune prick me.

He pushed into an inn, under a sign of a big, white-striped badger dancing on its hind legs with a man carrying a silver shovel. Easing the Badger, it was called, though not even Nieda Sidoro, the innkeeper, knew what the name meant; there had always been an inn of the name in Illian.

In thin red wax below the signature were impressed the Rising Sun seal of Cairhien and the Five Stars of House Riatin.

"Defender of the Dragonwall, my aged grandmother," Domon croaked. "Fine right the man do have to call himself that any longer."

TGH CH 43 'A Plan'

"Aye, mayhap it will be as you say. But I will remember it until I die. Ryma, help me. That is what she did scream. And one of the damane did fall down crying, and they did put one of those collars on the neck of the . . . woman, and I . . . I did run." He shrugged, and rubbed his nose, and peered into his wine. "I have seen three women taken, and I have no stomach for it. I would leave my aged grandmother standing on the dock to sail from here, but I did have to tell you."
