  1. Better not to bother with this. Not only is it unfinished (and will probably remain so), but also the quality takes a marked dive with book 4. Maybe HBO will be able to turn it into a decent product. We'll see.
  2. Well, Avi actually met Lanfear before (disguised as the fat merchant in the Waste). The feeling of familiarity wouldn't therefore exclude Lanfear (IMHO).
  3. I think the 'murderer on the Seanchan throne' might be a red herring. Well, ok, the whole royal family was murdered (by Semirhage), and someone unrelated took the opportunity to put him/herself on the throne. But for anyone in Seanchan it must look like that this person obviously has murdered the royals, even if in truth that isn't so, because it is so in line with expectations.
  4. Nakomi had a bit of a 'Selene' feel to her. That made me think she might be Cyndane/Lanfear/Mierin. Then Mierin pops up in the Epilogue. Made me think. A true mystery of ToM.
  5. That's more or less how I see it, too.
  6. I thought this was mentioned in the books as early as book two or three?
  7. There's a few things which need to be resolved in the last book. The main thing is clearly how to get the Seanchan to fight in the last Battle together with Rand, the Aes Sedai etc. The plotlines which will play into this are 1) the whole 'suldam can channel' thing which hasn't had much impact, yet, and of course the fact that Tuon is a suldam. 2) Mat+Tuon 3) Perrin and the Seanchan general 4) possibly Rand's new sword, and Berelain's name (remember she calls herself something something Paendrag) 5) The Horn of Valere which actually brings back Arthur Hawkwing. That should make an impression! 6) Avi's second visit to the glass columns Anyone things the Seanchan will actually execute their second raid to the White Tower? Also, are all the sad bracelets gone? Well, even if they're all gone, the knowledge is still there. At some point the Seanchan might get it in their minds to collar all the male channelers as well.
  8. There's really not many places where Demandred could be. Let's, for the sake of this discussion assume that countries which have been pacified by Rand (meaning they are or will be present of the field of Pellenor Merillor) or by the Seanchan, is out of question. We're really only having time in the last book (i) to deal with the Black Tower, (ii) to unite Randland with Seanchan (shouldn't involve Forsaken), (iii) and possibly to visit Murandy where something might be brewing. Realistically, another Forsaken plot involving Arad Doman, Cairhien, Tear, Illian, Mayene, Tar Valon, Andor, Borderlands, Ghealdan, Amadicia, Tarabon, Ebou Dar, the Whitecloaks, the Sea Folk etc. seems unrealistic. This excludes, obviously, straightforward attacks with large armies of the shadow such as what seems to be going on with Andor, and could happen with any other country as well. At this point, I can see Demandred in three locations. (i) the Black Tower, (ii) the Blight, herding Trollocs through the ways, or (iii) Murandy. 1) Demandred at the Black Tower. Now, Taimandred has been shot down by the author, but it was a very popular theory because it was very well supported by hints and oddities. Maybe, the right answer is that Taim is the front figure, and Demandred works from behind the scenes, but still at the Black Tower (teaching Taim, which would explain many of the hints in support of Taimandred). New stuff which supports this theory from ToM: the Black Tower is obviously shielded by a dreamspike. Moridin had two, he gave one to Graendal, maybe he gave the other to Demandred at the Black Tower? Also, the 13+13 thing has finally surfaced at the Black Tower. Would Taim know this trick or would someone (Demandred?) have to teach him? On the other hand, maybe Moridin has actually been behind Taim and the Black Tower the whole time? 2) Demandred in the Blight directing Trolloc armies. We see the attack on Saldea which was orchestrated by someone who knew what he was doing. Demandred? Also, there was a male channeler bringing Trollocs against the Whitecloaks. Demandred? Alternatively, the first could have been managed by any of the Forsaken or Shaidar Haran, the second one could have been a random darkfriend from the Black Tower. 3) Demandred in Murandy. Nothing really new supporting this. The only mention is that Egwene, in her infinite wisdom, wrote a letter to the King of Murandy to ask for support at the Field of Merillor. If Roedran=Demandred, this was likely a very stupid thing to do. In other words, par for the course, really. Conclusion: IMHO Taim had to be instructed somehow by an AoL male channeler to do some of the new things we see in ToM. Now, the only two left at this point are Moridin and Demandred. Moridin doesn't seem the type to expose himself in this way. So that would leave Demandred. ETA: I just noticed the 'Demandred rules Seanchan' theory. Yes, it could be, and having Rand remove Demandred from the throne might just be the thing to turn Tuon around. However, this would likely require a visit to Seanchan (which has been excluded by the author). Also, the whole 'bow to the Seanchan empire' thing (not sure about the precise wording) seems to contradict this. Well, ok, it is a solid theory, but IMHO second to the 'Black Tower' theory.
  9. I think Graendal is dead and stays dead. I don't think we'll see her pre-BF in ToM.
  10. Let's not forget that there are three AS with Mat at the moment. For one more night by the end of the chapter. I find that less likely, and it's three AS. We need only two.
  11. So with the gholam in Caemlyn, could the two Aes Sedai which Mat has to balance be ... Elayne and Moiraine? I.e. he would have to decide whether to guard Elayne or to rescue Moiraine? That's a pretty momentous decision. No wonder dice are landing on their corners.
  12. Haven't had so much fun with a new book release since ... ever. And it's still 7 weeks until it's out? Release day is two days before my tenth wedding anniversary. Finding the photo booth in Italy, decoding a text where +90% of the letters have been removed. Fun fun fun. Can we please get some more? Ah, and I pre-ordered the book. Go Brandon!

  14. Yeah, and it's somewhat readable. Some sentences at least.
  15. Hopefully we'll get some replies from the La Ruota del Tempo page soon, it's something like 4 a.m. over there now. They are following the hunt. So far the closest frequent poster that I saw is in Milan (although my geography isn't perfect). Someone's bound to have a brother or cousin or friend who's willing to go out to the Lagoon. *facepalm* Of course it would be the "Three-Fold Land" from Avi's POV, if it wasn't "Rhuidean" or another specific place. But it isn't unlocked, yet.
