The clues to the final GREAT HUNT code!

"The only thing better than a double-cross is a triple-cross"

Ladies and gentlemen, we have successfully out-foxed the master Aelfinn (Brandon) and received the answers to 20 questions!

Here's what happened. Around 4 PM U.S. Pacific Time yesterday, Brandon challenged Dragonmount and Theoryland to compete against each other to find the last hidden clue in his GREAT HUNT. He encouraged us to fight over the bragging right. But we had other plans. He said each site could submit (5) Yes/No questions.

Brandon was giving clues to where the codes were --really obscure clues-- and his assistant Peter would tease the Hunters every once in a while. They thought they were out-FOXING us. But like a certain gambler... it was time to toss the dice and take the fight to the 'Finns.

The first thing we (Jason, Jennifer, Tamyrlin and Frenzy from Theoryland.com) did was get on a conference call. We came up with a plan to manipulate not each other but BRANDON to trick him into giving us even MORE clues.

In public --on our websites and on Twitter-- we declared that we were peacefully working together. It seemed like Brandon was disappointed because he wanted us to FIGHT! But our motives are pure. We want to find this code as fast as possible. We're not totally sure, but it looks like the reward could be a whole chapter's worth of Towers of Midnight content!

So once we collected our 10 questions (5 from Dragonmount and 5 from Theoryland) the Dragonmount team sent Brandon an email, claiming that we had "stolen" their questions.

It worked! Brandon replied with the answer to all 10 questions.

Shortly after that, the Theoryland team followed up with their own email, asking for 5 more of their own questions. And THAT worked too! Not only did Brandon answer those five, but being a fair sport, he then offered to answer 5 MORE for Theoryland, matching the total Dragonmount had.

When all this settled, we now had a total of 20 questions (!!) when we originally expected to only have 5, or 10 at the most!

So here you go people. Dragonmount and Theoryland have been working together to trick the master Trickster himself. Our goal from the start has been to give the entire WoT community a better chance of seeing the hidden prize as quickly as possible. Let this be a point made for all: WoT fans are never divided. We are united in our causes. We uphold the positive ideals set forth by the books. Tai Shar Dragonmount. Tai Shar Theoryland.

Here are all 20 questions and answers. Read them over. And let's get some feet in the ground in these places so we can unlock that hidden prize!

- Jason

- Jennifer

- Matt (aka Tamyrlin from Theoryland)

- Mary (aka Frenzy from Theoryland)

Great. Let's narrow down the country.

Original NATO signatories: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, UK, US, Canada, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Iceland.

All of which are in the Northern hemisphere/ north of the equator.

Some of which are member states of the EU: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, UK, Portugal, Italy, Denmark.

Some of which have a population of more than 36 million: France, UK, Italy

France and UK are partly in the Western hemisphere, so parts of those countries are excluded. All of Italy should be possible.

Does anybody know whether Brandon has ever visited any of these countries? Surely he has been in the UK.

ETA: and well done, jenniferl!

Combining 3. and 17. it must be in one of the following:

UK

France

Italy

Netherlands

Belgium

Luxembourg

Denmark

Poland

With western hemisphere and size that leaves ITALY!!

Cities in italy that match population are: (according to wiki)

Bologna

Florence

Bari

Catania

Venice

Verona

1st letter: B F and V are divisible by 2 (not C) leaves

Bologna

Florence

Bari

Venice

Verona

2nd letter: A E and O not divisible by 2 (L is) leaves

Bologna

Bari

Venice

Verona

3rd letter L N and R are all divisible by 2 so no reduction

That I think is a far as they can be narrowed down... (I think) (also I may try looking into french cities as whilst part of the country is in the western hemisphere not all of it is so it could be in one of those cities)

Brandon just tweeted that the first clue is "Demoux". I assume it is Captain Demoux from the Mistborn series. I am not sure I can post a bunch of info about him here, since it would be mistborn spoilers.

Demoux is based on a real person, IIRC, have to search the mistborn annotations...

Demoux's History from Book One

This might be a good place to give you a little bit of Demoux's history, by way of reminder. He was one of the first recruits to Kelsier's army, and Ham promoted him to captain almost as soon as he (Ham) took control of the troops who were hiding in the caves back in book one. When Kelsier came to inspect those caves, Demoux led him around a bit. Then, Kelsier used Demoux in a display where he humiliated a dissenter.

Eventually, Yeden took the army and decided to attack a fortified position. Some of the troops thought this was against what Kelsier had told them to do, and these stayed back in the caves. Demoux was their leader.

He's also named after my good friend and former roommate, Micah DeMoux, who also did the jacket photo of me in the backs of all of my books. Captain Demoux actually looks just like Micah, in my mind, though with the fitness of a soldier.

is this demoux's website ?

Ok, I found a list of cities in the UK (including Northern Ireland) with population between 250k and 500k. Thanks Wikipedia

Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Leicester, Coventry, Kingston upon Hull, Bradford, Cardiff, Belfast, Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton.

All of them are indeed in the Western hemisphere.

My off-topic question, but still topic related is, is this really the last code? Does anybody know? According to BWS Great Hunt page we're missing 25-32 and 33-39. So do just assume these numbers never mattered and after 18 is unlocked by Brandon this will be the last code to plug in? Sorry, just scratching my head since Brandon says this is the last code and the numbers don't match up. Anyone in the know have any idea on this?

Ok, beside Venice/Verona, we know:

(i) it's not with a person/WoT fan; it's at a fixed location which is not a bookstore, but which is overseen by a guy called Ryan.

(ii) it's somewhere which starts with the letter a, c, e, g, i, k, m, o, q, s, u, w, y

(iii) Brandon has never visited Italy

And we have a photo clue.
